Trying to connect to database via jdbc

I'm tring to connect to a mimer database currently running on my computer. This is what I've done in main:
Connection con;
try{
               Class.forName("com.mimer.jdbc.Driver");
               String url = "jdbc:mimer://sysadm:frenulum@C:/Skola/Examensarbete/Testbasen";
               con = DriverManager.getConnection(url);
          catch(Exception e){
               System.out.println(e);
          }I have included drivers and all that. The Exception I get is:
java.sql.SQLException: Illegal port: , java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: ""
Does anyone know what's wrong?

  • Connecting to IDMS database via JDBC

    Has anyone successfully set up JDBC connectivity to generate reports using data in an IDMS mainframe database containing multiple schemas, where several schemas may contain tables with the same name?
    We have no issues when using ODBC to connect to the various schemas in this IDMS databases, but we need to convert the connectivity for existing reports to JDBC.
    When I open the JDBC connection, I see the expected hierarchy of schemas and tables in the Database Expert window.  If I try to select a table I get the following error message if a table of that same name exists in other schemas:
    Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details:  SQL exception: [SQL State:]  42000  [Error message:]  DB002046 T11094 C-4M347: Duplicate table ids for ASISCHEM.SR-ACT and CORPCHEM.SR-ACT in area CORPDB.ACTIVITY-AREA [Database Vendor Code: -4]
    So although we can connect to the database via JDBC, we can't use the connectivity because Crystal  does not appear to correctly resolve that I'm selecting the table from within a specific schema.
    Can anyone advise on how to make sure the table name selection is qualified by the correct schema name?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    Try running the query outside of CR to verify the JDBC driver is passing the fully qualified name also.
    Then look in the Designer and Show SQL to verify it's there as well as Set Table Location. You may be able to fully qualify it in that UI.
    Thank you

  • Not able to connect to database using jdbc

    Respected sir/madam,
    I am new to java and i am trying to connect to database which is necessary for me in project when i wrote the code using class.forName i am able to compile but when runnig i am getting two exceptionns one is oracle.jdbc.driver.oracledriver not found or excetion in thread main class not found please help me

    Subash,
    1) Please refrain from cross-posting (posting the same message into two or more forums). This question was better asked in the JDBC forum as you eventually put it but you already posted here so if that happens again next time just leave the original thread be.
    2) Your compilation classpath and your runtime classpath are not related. As a matter of fact with well written JDBC code and under most conditions you should not need your driver in your compilation classpath at all, only your runtime one.
    3) Your driver is not in your runtime classpath. That is the error that you need to resolve.

    Can anybody help me in determining the problem ? Is there a systemtic incompatibility in connecting a 7.1.3 client to a 9.2 (or even higher) database ?

    Thanks for your reply.
    But the funny thing on this compatibility issues is, that this configuration worked before. The only thing we did, was to setup the client-PC on a new hardware with also a new operating system (upgrading from Solaris 5.8 to 5.10). And from that time we encountered this problem.
    Are there any OS-related problems known or better to say: is (was) ORACLE 7.1.3 supported on Solaris 5.10 ? Should we look for any patches which might help us ?

  • Cannot connect to database via TNS

    Hello!
    I installed XE with default settings and have some trouble. I cannot connect to database via TNS. Two symptoms:
    1. I can connect with SQLPLUS system/pwd (locally, without tns name input), but CANNOT connect with SQLPLUS system/pwd@EX (WITH TNS NAME input).
    2. I cannot start Database Home Page.
    How to avoid this problem? Any ideas?

  • Ora-12154 when trying to connect to database from fortran application

    I am trying to connect to database and run an simple select query to a table(without any where clause) using pro*fortran code.
    the connect strng is like
    exec sql connect :uidpwd
    where uidpwd = username/password@SID
    SID and tnsnames connect string are the same.
    The fortran (profortran) code is placed in the database server and there are no errors when make is run.
    Tnsping is working fine, also i am able to conect using sql*plus and run the same query.
    Please help
    Thanks and Regards
    Nitin

    Hi Nitin
    Thanks for the helpful! With your point I'm now Pro! Great thanks.
    By the way have your seen that?
    Files such as LISTENER.ORA, TNSNAMES.ORA, SQLNET.ORA, if configured manually, or copied and edited from earlier releases of Oracle Database may have record attributes that are incompatible with Oracle Database 10g release 2. The software cannot read such files. The required record format is stream_lf and the record attributes are carriage_control and carriage_return.
    This may result in:
    Inability to start the listener
    Services not registered with the listener
    Inability to connect to other databases
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
    Run the following command on each file affected:
    $ DIR/FULL filename
    An output similar to the following may be displayed:
    Record format: Variable length, maximum 255 bytes
    Record attributes: Carriage return carriage control
    If the output includes the preceding entries, then run the following command:
    $ CONVERT/FDL=SYS$INPUT filename filename
    RECORD
    CARRIAGE_CONTROL CARRIAGE_RETURN
    FORMAT STREAM_LF
    ^Z
    Otherwise herewith an interesting metalink note. Doc ID:      Note:437597.1

  • Error while trying to connect to Database using Oracle instantclient

    I have a linux box where i have downloaded"instantclient-basic-linux.x64-11.2.0.3.0.zip". I have unzipped in /opt/instantclient_11_2.
    I am using this as a client in my code for connecting to the oracle 11g database which is in a different server. I have set the below env variables.
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/instantclient_11_2
    CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_11_2:...
    PATH=/opt/instantclient_11_2:...
    When i run my program i am getting the below error.

    Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");
                   Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@hostname_orcl", userid, pwd);
    I have seen in some forums that we need to set $ORACLE_HOME and $TNS_ADMIN env variables as well. But, here i am trying to connect to a remote database. what should i set these variables to as i don't have oracle in my machine??
    Thanks

    looks like you didnt complete the install of the instant client. the ORACLE_HOME and TNS_ADMIN points to the location of the tnsnames if you dont have the full tns string in your jdbc connection string

  • Connection to mySQL via jdbc

    I'm currently programming a GUI to access a database. Therefore I executed a query, which worked fine. But when I tried to exit my program with
    System.exit(0)my DOS-Prompt crashes without exiting.
    Now I tried it with a kind of minimalistic Connection like that:
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/stock");
    conn.close();Here the same problem occurs, so it must be the Connection that causes the error.
    If I would exit the program right away after the Connection, that is
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/stock");
    conn.close();
    System.exit(0);then the program exits properly. Unfortunately it doesn't make any sense to quit the program right after reading the data.
    So, as you can guess, I'm quite confused. I used the same driver and the same database in another program on the same computer, and it works fine. So I'm left totally clueless.
    I'm not using a special programming environment, I just write my code using UltraEdit. I've got installed Java 1.4.0 on my machine.
    Any help is very appreciated
    Martin

    I don't get any.
    It just crashes. There's neither an exception thrown nor any other error msg.

  • Unable to post data to a database via JDBC adapter in PI 7.1

    Hello experts,
    The scenario I am trying to implement is Proxy -- to -- JDBC. Earlier it was assumed that the table has primary key and therefore I started with UPDATE_INSERT structure but later on we came to know that the table does not have any primary key.
    Now, I am supposed to insert data into a database table with no primary key. Therefore I am using INSERT structure. The structure on the receiver side is something like this:
         <Statement1>
              <SKU_TMP action="INSERT">
                   <table>SKU_TMP</table>
                   <access>
                        <SKUCODE></SKUCODE>
                        <SKULIB1></SKULIB1>
                        <SKUPUC></SKUPUC>
                        <SKUNUC></SKUNUC>
                        <SKUUCLOT></SKUUCLOT>
                        <SKUNBFAR></SKUNBFAR>
                        <SKUNCHE></SKUNCHE>
                        <SKUPBRUT></SKUPBRUT>
                        <SKUEANU></SKUEANU>
                        <SKUEANC></SKUEANC>
                   </access>
              </SKU_TMP>
         </Statement1>
    The problem is that I have tried everything, even logging the DB query (though unsuccessful) but am not able to insert data into this table. The user name and password is correct. Below is the latest error:
    "Delivering the message to the application using connection JDBC_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'SKU_TMP' (structure 'Statement1'): java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00913: too many values ."
    Earlier I have also received the following error (while using ):
    u201CJDBC Message processing failed, due to Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'SKU_TMP' (structure 'Statement1'): java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01747: invalid user.table.column, table.column, or column specificationu201D
    Experts, please help me to resolve this predicament.
    Best regards,
    Varun

    Hello All,
    Thanks for your valuable suggestions.
    The problem was with the 'FormatNum' function.
    This mapping is being designed for an European client and they use "," (comma) for a decimal point. But in the database insert query, the comma was being taken as a separator between values and that is how I was getting "too many values" error. I am inserting the records with a decimal point now instead of a comma and the scenario is working fine.
    Thanks again,
    Best regards,
    Varun

  • Connecting to database via Dreamweaver

    Hi All
    I am trying to build a site using asp.net and SQL Server via
    Dreamweaver.!!!! To help me on my way I decided to build a tiny
    test site just to establish the connections. However, try as I
    might I can’t make a connection to a database and am now
    rapidly loosing the will to live due to the quite unbelievable time
    I have spent trying to sort this out. Now this post is my last best
    chance.
    I am trying to connect to either of the databases that come
    with the freebee SQL Server package (Is it called express or
    something?). They are pubs and Northwind.
    I am using Dreamweaver 8, XP Professional with the .Net
    framework v2.0 and IIS.
    However, when testing the connection in Dreamweaver I get a
    choice of two different error messages depending on my
    computer’s mood (I don’t change ANYTHING) The first is
    the beautifully succinct and entirely unhelpful “an
    unidentified error has occurred”. The second reads:
    1) There is no testing server running on the server machine
    2) The testing server specified for this site does not map to
    the
    ttp://Localhost/RootFolder/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.asp URL,
    Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site.
    After more hours trawling the net for answers, than I care to
    admit to I decided in desperation to try out the Dreamweaver
    tutorial that deals with these things (Café Townsend) to see
    if it offered any clues. However, when attempting to connect to the
    database (tutorial.mdb) I get the same two error messages:
    “an unidentified error has occurred”.
    1) There is no testing server running on the server machine
    2) The testing server specified for this site does not map to
    the
    ttp://Localhost/MySampleApps/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.asp
    URL, Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site. Again
    dependent on my computer’s mood.
    I am convinced that I have all the necessary components in
    place and my connection strings are correct (I am aware that the
    path given in the Dreamweaver tutorial for Café Townsend is
    incorrect and have altered the string accordingly).
    I now strongly believe the problem is something to do with
    the MMHTTPDB.asp file in the _mmServerScripts folder but could
    easily be wrong.
    Does anyone know of a problem with Dreamweaver of this nature
    or one that would result in my error message for either an Access
    database or a SQL Server database?
    I know Dreamweaver MX had a problem viewing database tables
    whilst using .net and Adobe created a patch to fix the problem. Has
    Dreamweaver 8 any similar problems?
    I’m sorry this post is a bit long but trust me I could
    have made it three times as long if I included everything I have
    tried to resolve this!
    Any help in the right direction would be appreciated more
    than you can imagine.
    Cheers
    Burnsie

    Sorry for jumping into the thread with a bit of an off topic question, but how do you find out what kind of a db the asp server is using? I've asked my company's web host a number of times for info/help in getting connected using Dreamweaver so I can redesign our site and I never hear back from them. It's a very specialized web hosting server set up for rubber stamp web sites. Looks like most of their customers use the online website design tool that they provide, but it is very limited in what it can do. Very limited.
    They give me ftp access and I've changed what I can on the page, but with out access to the db it's hard to really change the look of the site.
