Trying to copy effect into anther project

Sorry for the vague info. I created a movie and I am trying
to add a text effect to the movie. The text effect contains an
Actionscript. How do I transfer the effect to my movie in progress,
short of rewriting the script.
Merge two seperate files into one, or transfer effects from
one file into another is the basic gist of what I am trying to do.

You could "Copy Frames" and "Paste Frames". While doing it
all the clips that
are used on these frames and clips within these clips will
automatically be
transfered. Along the action script attached to frames.

Tried to Copy Files Into Home Folder

I tried to drag all the folders into my Home Folder to clean things up. I copied my Pictures Folder, my Documents Folder, my Music Folder, my Movies Folder into the Home folder.
Is there some place to read about what should be where and how to start to clean up my duplications and alias's

I am sorry for the confusion...I don't know the correct terminology.
I am calling the finder window the 'dock' and what is the dock I call the docking station.

Applications (with the A logo icon not the folder Icon) (inside this folder is all my apps but also an alias of the applications folder but when I highlight this alias I have a duplicate of all the contents of the applications folder)

Pictures (just a folder no active logo or icon on folder)
Music (just a folder no active logo or icon on folder)
Sites (just a folder no active logo or icon on folder)
Public (just a folder no active logo or icon on folder)

(and then if I click on the home folder this is what I have inside my home folder)
Bill-Work-Folder (folder where I keep all my stuff)
Burn Folder (with burn logo / icon)

Documents ( folder with the active logo icon....the contents of this folder match the contents of the documents folder on the dock)

Now restart iMovie.
If You run Mac OS X.7 or more - then the Library in the User-account folder is invisibly and need to be set to be viewable. IT IS NOT in the Library on Root level (when opening MacintoshHD - first window = root level)
( It can be done like this: Open Terminal, then enter: chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press return, then restart, and it will always be visible until the next major update, when you do the same thing again. )

When trying to copy something into InDesign it crashes and gives error faulting MSVCR90.dll ?

I am IT support person for one of our clients and they are complaining about InDesign crashing every time they try to copy text from Ms Office or Open Office. I checked the event logs I found the following error is thrown many times:

If so, you have me puzzled. It's not wrong information, but we don't want a memory dump. We just want a stack trace. That's the 'kp' command, I believe. I don't have a nice fancy URL to recommnd, so maybe I shouldn't nitpick yours, but it doesn't look very helpful for the problem at hand.
p.s.: it also seems to recommend loading a bunch of extensions that are not helpful here. Like SOS. All that's needed is the core WinDBG.

How to copy part/all of a project into another project in PE4?

Is there a way to copy some or all of the workof one projedt ( clips, transitions and effects) into another project. I would especially like to use the same rolling credits in all my video's. I've tried copy/paste and Get Media from a file but I get "file format not supported" when I try to import a .prel (project)

There is a also a Clipboard "extender," ClipMate, that will allow one to Copy/Paste from one Project to another. I have not used it, but many have and few have any issues.
The Export to DV-AVI method is the main one. The only thing to think about is that you will want either a perfectly tight edit, before the Export, or a very loose edit (I'd go so far as to add 02 sec. of Black Video between un-Trimmed Clips), as you will not want to, say replace a Transition, as you would have to Trim even more of your Clips to create the necessary Handles.

Is there a way by which I can preserve my work done on DV PAL and switch it preserving its proportions, scale and orientation, but on a HD project sequence?? Appreciate your help and advice..

Yes. A couple of ways that might work.
First Way
What you need to do is load one of your hd clips in the viewer and edit into a new HD sequence. Does it display correctionly?
OK, select the clip in the hd timeline and copy (command-c). Now go to the HD sequence with the material that's distorted. Select all (command-a) and paste attributes (option-v) and choose basic motion and distort. That should maek things work. What won't work is anything that you've adjusted as far as basic motion or distort in your PAL sequence. That I'm pretty sure you'll have to redo.
Second Way.
Choose your original PAL sequence and do a Media Manage changing the sequence preset to the appropriate HD paramenters with the media offline. You then should be able to reconnect these clips with your original HD media.

I recently had some 8mm film transferred to DVD. I am trying to edit the film clips using Premier Elements 4.0. so I can reburn the films on a single BluRay disc. Some of the film clips copy into the project but others don't. I tried copying the VOB filed onto my hard drive and then changing the file extensions on the VOB files to MPEG but this was no help. Some of the VOB files contain numerous film clips but my software does not appear to be able to recognize them as such. I need to know if replacing my old Premier Elements with the new Version 13 would solve this problem or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What do you have now.....
What computer operating system do you have?
We can go into the finer points of source and your intentions, but for now it would appear that you are using SD 4:3 source media to get to a HD 16:9 result. Lots to discuss in this regard.
What was given to you on the DVD disc? DVD-VIDEO 4:3 or something else?
If DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you should expect to find on the disc a folder named VIDEO_TS. That is your target for your video files.
If you were given a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, then all you want from it are the video files, specifically
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, and so on through that series until possibly getting to
VTS_02_1.VOB, and so on. How many files you have beyond the VTS_01_1.VOB file will depend on the size of the DVD-VIDEO.
Does the above scenario apply to you?
The alternative might be someone giving a DVD disc (data disc) which contains just the VTS files mentioned which were copied from
the VIDEO_TS Folder. So, you do not get the whole VIDEO_TS Folder, just the essential video files. Does this scenario apply to you.
I see no need to replace your Premiere Elements 4 with a later version unless you have a huge project and need a later version that will be a 64 bit application running specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Consider...Premiere Elements 4 and if you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD....
1. Place the DVD disc in the burner tray
2. Open Premiere Elements 4 and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard (assuming you are working in a NTSC setup)
3. Go to
Get Media
"DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader"
"Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" and its Advanced dialog.
Set the Source in the latter dialog for the drive which has your DVD disc inserted in its tray
You should see your VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail in the "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" Advanced dialog.
With this VOB selected, click on Get Media to get the file from there into the project.
Should work fine.
Complications may be involved if the people who processed your footage gave you something other what is described above.
Please review and consider, and then we can plan our project strategy accordingly.

Copying a whole timeline with effects onto another project

I'm trying to copy a whole time line from one project to another. Basically adding on one project into the whole finished export file. I have no problem doing so, but all the transition effects are missing. How would I copy everything including the transitions and audio edits into my new project without any problems?

I am working on a TV show for a community television network in Australia. I created the opening credits in a seperate project to the edited footage of the show, because my computer is struggling with the size of all the files. So I have two project files. Recently I copied and pasted the edited footage of the show into the project where I have the opening credits (by highlighting all the footage, right clicking and going to copy, then opening the Project with the credits sequence, right clicking and selecting paste). This seems to work. I can hear the sound and continue tweaking and editing. However, when I export the project, the sound from the footage I have copied into the project can't be heard. I can hear the sound from the credit sequence, but not the sound that has been copied into the project (although on the timeline of the project, I can hear the sound... This problem only presents itself after export).
I have tried doing the opposite... Copying and pasting the opening credit sequence into the project with the edited footage, and I get the same problem. It doesn't seem to matter which file type I export as. I have tried .AVI and .MPEG2, with the same results.
I am using Windows 7 64bit version, and Premiere CS4. I have a mixture of .MTS, .WAV and .MP3 audio files in the footage that I copy and paste across. None of them are exporting.
I have tried moving the copied and pasted audio files on to the same audio tracks as the sound already in the project, but this doesn't work either. The original sound will export, then when it gets to the copied and pasted sound nothing can be heard.
I have included some screen shots to illustrate the problem below. If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Sounds like cut and paste is not an option. Wow, I didn't realise how much trouble I'd be causing for myself by having different parts of the show in different projects.
I am reluctant to export the project then import it into another project, because I do not want to lose quality through compression as Ann suggests.I don't know what you mean, Ann, when you say "Dont think CS4 could import single sequence (forgot)."? Jim, I'm also unsure what you mean when you say "That's what UT is for"?
However, I went to File/Import/Import Entire Project, and imported the project this way. Then I dragged the little folder icon that appeared in the top left hand corner of the screen onto the timeline. However, when I did this, a few problems occured. Firstly, the original project had footage and audio on many different tracks, but when I imported the project nearly all of the video and audio was on to the one track. Secondly, instead of going for 10 minutes, the imported footage went for a few hours. Thirdly, the sound and images were all out of sync. I have included two images to illustrate this problem:
Above is the original project. As you can see, I have audio and video on many different tracks, and lots of cuts.
This is what the project looked like after I had imported it into another project. Nearly everything is on one track, the footage goes for a few hours now (instead of 10 minutes) and the video and sound are all out of sink.
Then I tried File/Import/Import Selected Sequence. The only sequence I had the option of importing was Sequence 1. I did this, then dragged the folder icon onto the timeline, and I had a similar problem to before. Everything on one track, footage out of sync and going for a few hours.
Is there a way to import a project and maintain all of the editing (the cuts, the multiple tracks, etc.) as they are in the original? I have spent many hours editing both the footage and the opening credits, so I really don't want to lose all this work when I import one into the other. The good thing about copy and paste is that it maintains all of the original cuts and editing. Shame it is so unreliable.

Merged Project - Can you share images between multiple projects/topics without images actually copied into each project?

I have a merged project that I use the same images in several topics in different projects. I use the resource manager but each time these images are being copied into each project. My merged project is getting so large it is taking forever to download. I hope I'm just missing a step to eliminate the redundant usage of these images.

I'm concerned since the complete merged projects have increased in size on a steady basis. For example, January 2014 project size was 288mb and I just published again today and it has increased to 353mb. There are so many images replicated over and over in each merged project. We are getting complainants from our customers on the size of our online documentation. I was hoping for a easy solution and thought this might be the best way.

I was refering to the "sample rate", normally 44.1 KHz, the iPod might not be able to play tracks with a non-standard rate. Otherwise I'm not sure what the issue might be.

Do I need to somehow change my Layout to make the Document accept numerical values instead of requiring alpha-numeric values? I need to be able to populate the Document with a large amount of transactions and cannot feasibly go through every transaction to add the alpha-valued name of the account segment to every segment that requires it. The segments in particular causing the problem are "Expnd Type" and "Organization Name" which are both alpha-numeric and as such contain the segment number and name; I need to be able to only have to enter the Natural Account Number (6-digit number only) and the Organization Number (5-digit number only).

Copy/pasting content into one project from another.

When I copy pictures from one project into another, it just leaves me with black pictures for the duration of the other ones...how do I fix this?

Feature Suggestion: Auto Copy Libraries into Project from GUI

I'm surely not the only one to think of this but I know I would find it very useful. When going to the Libraries section in the project settings under the desired configuration, we choose from all the libraries Jdev knows about. Of course when we shuttle them over to be in the project classpath, the jar files stay where they are. Could there be an option during this operation to add them to the project? What I mean by that is to copy the jar files from their referenced location into a directory underneath the project root and then add the files into the jpr. This would be similar to what the Struts wizard asks when it says, "Would you like to copy the struts libraries into the project?". If you say yes, it does just what I described.
I find myself more often than not wanting to control the environment on a project by project basis - regardless of what libraries are local to the workstation. This type of library management is especially useful in a team setting. When the environment JARs are tied to the project, we can put the whole thing under source control and never have to worry about not having the right libraries on our local machines. They always get downloaded with the project. Not to mention how much easier it is to upgrade Jdev without wondering where that library went that I knew worked with my project before but now is a new version bundled with the IDE.
