Trying to create index cards in pages

Hello,
I am trying to create a 3x5 flash card template to study, and can't find an easy way to set this up on Pages. I need to make about 150 double-sided cards with text on the front, and text wrapped around a small picture on the back. So I need to create an efficient system to plug in data as well as a picture for all of these items. I've tried several things so far:
1) Create a blank document 8.5x11 landscape orientation, then pull the guides down to fit 4 cards on a page. I would then ideally enter the info, print double-sided, then cut with a paper cutter. This formatting works fine for the first page, but I can't seem to replicate this page or the guides onto subsequent pages (guides can't be made to master objects I guess). If I try to select all 4 text boxes, copy, then paste them into the next page they for some strange reason scale down in size, so I lose the dimensions and placement of the boxes.
2) Create a brand new template with aforementioned guides and text boxes. And again, when I tried this I couldn't get the page and formatting to be replicated to subsequent pages. When I made the text boxes into master objects to try and achieve this, all text I enter into them gets replicated into every subsequent box, which is not what I need because I need unique text on each card.
3) Create a 3x5 page size document, which works ok but I cannot get a placeholder image to be replicated to subsequent pages. That means I need to drag the pictures on and format them one by one, which is again time-consuming. This is also tricky because I need to find a printer that handle printing directly onto index cards, which is a little specialized compared to printing on standard letter paper.
I've also searched the forums and google to try and find add-ons or shareware that can do this, but haven't come up with anything!
This is weird because surely I am not the only student who wants to create index cards on the computer rather than by hand! Please help..my final is next week..

Try to "capture" your first page thru the menu Format > Advanced > Capture Pages"
Then you will be able to insert a new page with the defined attributes from the menu entitled "Sections" in the toolbar.

I was too impatient to wait for your solution and finally figured it out for myself. But I came up with a different method of dragging the one master card to the other blocks and that was by using the "option" key on the Apple key board. Apparently, it does the same as Cm + D. It's strange that we can't just copy and paste as normal.
It's a shame too that we don't have a "how to do things" directory for our keyboard.
But I want to say thanks for being a good Samaritan out there willing to help people like me and Samdelrussi.

ORA-01450 when trying to create index on xmltype column

Hi,
I have a table that contains an xmltype column. It is a schema-based column and uses object-relational structured storage. When I tried to create an index like:
create index ssual_sipuser_idx on ssua_line (extractValue(ssual_configuration, '/ssuaLineApplication/sipUser'));
I got the following:
ORA-01450: maximum key length (3118) exceeded
The sipUser tag is of string type. I have also tried creating the index on the extract function.
create index ssual_sipuser_idx on ssua_line (ssual_configuration.extract('/ssuaLineApplication/sipUser/text()').getStringVal())
Gave me the same error message. My database block size is 4k. This is Oracle 9.2.0.4 running on Solaris.
Any help will be appreciated.

My field is really small, probably around 10 bytes. Actually I've been testing on two servers, a 9201 and a 9204. I know that Oracle doesn't support XML DB on 9201 anymore but our company hasn't switched over yet. Anyways, here's really what I saw:
9201
- creating an index with extractValue() or extract() doesn't work
9204
- extractValue() works
- extract() still doesn't work
Now I'm using the substr() workaround. I should also mention that extractValue() with a numeric field works (using getNumberVal()).
I wonder if specifying the field length in the XML Schema would make a difference. I may try that next.

Creating business cards in Pages with background image

I am trying to use the Pages business card template and background image function of pages to create a business card that has an image on every business card on the sheet. I can't seem to find out how to do that. Can anyone help?

Here is the basic method of having white text on a colored background: Insert a shape. While selected go to the Graphic Inspector and select a Fill color. Re-proportion the shape as needed. Insert a text box (or boxes) and type your text. Drag it (them) over the shape and change the color of the text to white (or any other color you desire). Select all and group. Duplicate as needed. Apply this procedure to your business cards or anywhere else.
Another method for applying a colored background to a text box: select the text box and Fill it from the Graphics Inspector and adjust the Inset Margin in the Text Inspector.

IPhoto '11 crashes trying to create post card

I've tried several times now, after converting from iPhoto '09, to create a post card and every time I try to add pictures (clicking add photos to project), iPhoto goes snowballing and then crashes.
I've tried, as suggested on another thread, to create a new account and see if iPhoto does the same there, and it apparently doesn't, but that doesn't really help me, when I try to create a project with pictures from my main library...
I guess there must have been something that've gone wrong converting the library, but isn't there a way to fix it?

First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If the above doesn't work create a new test library in your primary account, import a few photos, create a book and see if you can duplicate the problem. If you can't then your primary library is damaged so try the following:

Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.

Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:

1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Since iPhoto works OK in the other account and a new library doesn't work there is something in your primary account that is the culprit. It could be another preference file other than iPhoto's that interfering. Here's how to check that out:

1 - close all applications.
2 - open your Library folder, Home/Library, and drag the Preferences folder to the Desktop. A new Preference folder will be immediately created in the Library.
3 - run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
4 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button.

Generally this sounds like a mail merge and would be better handled in the previous version of Numbers and Pages (iWork '09) since the mail merge feature was dropped.
Make a table to contain the list of attendees where the columns represent the various fields you listed. Then mail merge to Pages. In Pages you could then add the photo ID (there is not automated way to move a picture.)

Q: are you trying to log in, or not? Have you done anything to enable you application to enable security?
My suggestion is you give some detail about your application so people can understand what your problem might be. The screenshot is great, but it is not enough. I would like to help you, but if you go about this like a scientist and give everybody as much detail as you can, I am sure you will get better response on this urgent issue.

I want to create a custom size pop up page using iweb08, using a html generator, I created the html code, I plugged it in using the html snippet widget. But its not working. Do you know what I am doing wrong?
I love the look of http://jquery.com/demo/thickbox/ but I really don't understand the instructions, and if I did would it work with iweb?
I have to say, I am pregnant, and my brain isn't working as well as it usually does. So please think of me as a not very intelligent person when you are explaining how to create the pop up.

Trying to create tab dividers in Pages

I would like to print divider tabs in Pages using the 8-tab divider set I purchased at Office Max. I'm having trouble finding an existing template in Pages for this brand, nor have I figured out how to customize. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have done this before successfully with other software, but not sure how to proceed in Pages.

They are only text labels, hardly rocket science if you own a ruler.
Make a document, probably horizontal to match your sheets and add a tab on the ruler to match the position of the tabs, then type your labels where you want them.

Delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file presented at location:
Win-[C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us],
Mac-[library\applcation support\adobe\photoshop elements\10.0\locales\en-us]
After deleting, launch Editor. Editor will hang for some-time. Let it do its processing. It may take 5-20 minutes depending upon the speed of your machine.

Creating a simple search page

Hi all,
I am trying to create a simple search page using Jdeveloper 9.03 OA Framework that will allow the user to search for records in a view based on a few key columns.
Are there any resources available which show a step by step process for doing a simple search? I followed the User Guide as far as being able to create the EOs, VOs and the query page region but I dont know how to get the results of the VO in the query page.
There has got to be an easy way of getting such a apparently simple task done. I get the impression J Developer is unnecessarily complicated... Why couldnt there have been Wizards for common development tasks? It just seems unnecessarily confusing.
I'd appreciate any help on this, no matter how insignificant. Im at an impasse here.

Thanks for the reply! That is precisely what I need to do.
I did that, and it worked, but with one major problem... For some reason, it only works on the seeded tables in the AK schema. Those work without any problem. I tried making my own test tables also in the AK schema but when I try to search non AK seeded tables. it errors out. Funny thing is it errors out only when there are records found. If there are no records found the page displays correctly.
Ive tried everything I can think of.
I made a two column table with primary keys, unique indexes, not null conditions, everyting that seemed special about the seeded AK tables to see if I could prevent the error from coming... no luck.
I suspect it is a bug... Has any one ever got this error before?

Business Cards in Pages

I am trying to make business cards in pages, and have one done. I would like to have the rest the same, and copying and pasting all the parts is too time intensive

Menu > File > New from Template Chooser... > Page Layout > Blank Canvas
This is portrait format. The canvas will allow you to place and move Text Boxes (it mimics a drawing app).
Menu > Insert > Text Box. Create one business card.
Menu > View > Show Layout. Drag the Text box to just inside the margin (grey fill):
With the Text Box selected, Menu > Edit > Copy (command c). Then Paste and drag the second business card to the right. The blue alignment guide will help you. Now two business cards:
Select both and Menu > Arrange > Group. Copy then Paste. Drag the copy down and paste repeatedly until you fill a page. Dragging the first pasted pair sets the spacing for subsequent pastes.

How do you create a custom size page?

I"m trying to create a card but my sizes are different than what the templates have. How you you customize a new page? Also is there a way to know the sizes of Templates before you open up a page?

+To set paper size and orientation:+
+Choose File > Page Setup.+
+In the Page Setup dialog, choose the printer you will use from the “Format for” pop-up menu.+
+Choose a standard paper size from the Paper Size pop-up menu.+
+If you want to set a custom paper size, choose Manage Custom Sizes from the pop-up menu. Otherwise, go to step 7.+
+Click the Add button, and then enter values in the Page Size fields.+
+Either choose your printer’s default margins from the pop-up menu, or enter your own values for margins in the Left, Right, Top, and Bottom fields.+
+If you want to change the custom size’s name, double-click the name in the list and enter a new name.+
+Click OK.+
+Choose the new paper size you named from the Paper Size pop-up menu, and then click OK.+
+Select an orientation option using one of the buttons at the bottom of the Page Setup dialog.+

Create a custom Master Page in SharePoint Foundation 2013

Hi,
I am new to SharePoint foundation.
I am trying to create a custom master page and save it as template, so that i can use it for all other sub sites. But i don't know where to start. Also i tries searching in Google, i got results for share point and not for share point foundation.
So, Please give me a step by step procedure or a link to step by step procedure on how to create a master page, save it as template and use it for a sub site.

Few points to note related to SharePoint Master page:
You don't need to create master page template. If you deploy your master page in site collection level you can reuse the same master page in subsites without copying again and again, rather just by referencing
You have not mentioned how you are going to deploy your master page. If you have any Visual Studio (VS) solution already, try to add your master page in the VS solution and deploy your master page (and other branding components) as SharePoint WSP
solution.
Deploying master page will not activate the master page, you need to use some kind of 'Web Level Feature' to activate your branding - the feature will basically set the master page property of SharePoint site to your custom master page.
