Trying to create "popup" photo scenes

Hello! I found a photoshop roadmap tutorial but seem to be having some issues with this particular thing I want to do and was hoping adobe tv or other, had a better tutorial. Here is a link to the tutorial, since I'm not exactly sure what I'm trying to ask for, just what I want to do.
http://photoshoptutorials.ws/photoshop-tutorials/photo-manipulation/create-a-scene-with-po pup-photos-in-photoshop.html
I will check periodically to see if anyone is familiar with this technique, making "popup" pictures. Landscape image of grass and a tree, where the tree like pops up out of the rest of the picture that was laid flat.

The tutorial is explaining pretty much everything, so I'm not sure what you hope to get by just posting a blanket thread basically saying "I have no clue." This sounds more like a general lack of PS knowledge, so for what it's worth, perhaps start by reading the help? And not to put too fine a point to it, tutorials can't teach you creativity, either. If you don't have the slightest idea how to conceptualise the whole thing, then you have an even longer way ahead of you... (yeah, I know this all sounds harsh).

I'd recommend linking your flex app to a PHP file, it'll automatically handle all the photos for you without you having to embed them all. Keeps the app size small and lets you add more pictures without having to alter any code. Here's the example code of a very simply image gallery that i'd build on if i was making a photogallery.
Flex:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" applicationComplete="getPictures.send()">
<mx:HTTPService id="getPictures" url="getPictures.php" method="POST" showBusyCursor="true"/>
<mx:TileList dataProvider="{getPictures.lastResult.Pictures}" width="500" height="500" x="349" y="129">
<mx:itemRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:Image width="200" height="200" source="{data.imagePath}"/>
</mx:Component>
</mx:itemRenderer>
</mx:TileList>
</mx:Application>
PHP:
<?php
foreach (glob("*.png") as $filename)
print "<Pictures><imagePath>".$filename."</imagePath></Pictures>";
?>

You can still have a photo for a text page background. Go to the layout pane for the text page and click on the photo background icon:
Then drag the photo you want as the background into the page.

• When trying to create a photo album on facebook it keeps crashing when i click on my photos

i pull up myphotos in my documents and as soon as my pics load up it shuts it down

VmusicV,
No one said anything about their being old, troublesome versions causing the problem. Sometimes, at no fault of Mozilla or Firefox, installations can become corrupt. This presents the need to erase the install and start over. It takes only a few minutes to accomplish and should only be required on rare occasion unless there is something seriously wrong with the computer. Your claim that "it's untested" is simply unwarranted, false and does nothing to assist with this issue. This does not appear to be a systemic issue with Firefox 25, so a local root cause is most likely.
If you don't like this possible solution, just wait for another contributor to offer advice. The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox ''Help'' menu and select ''Submit Feedback...'' or use [https://input.mozilla.org/feedback this link]. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Give this a try: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

• Creating a Photo Gallery

Hello there,
I've, for a considerable amount of time now, been trying to
create a photo gallery the same as the one on the following site:
http://www.workingtitlefilms.com/film.php?filmID=38.
I just don't seem to be able to make it and would be very grateful
if somebody could help me through the entire process.
If you don't know which part of the site I'm meaning then
please feel free to email me and I'll send you a screen shot of the
object I'm wanting to create; my email address is:
[email protected]
Thanks in advance,
Kristopher (UK).

You will need to create a movieClip to hold the scolling
pictures and a clip to present the pics. The scrolling clip uses
mouse coordinates to control the scroll and a click event to pass
the picture info to the pic clip. There are many ways to develop
this. I have done these in the past. You are looking at many hours
of coding and defelopment to get it done.
Email me if you would like to discuss this further.

• Unable to create a photo calendar from iPhoto

Hi,
I'm trying to create a photo calendar for the first time and it just will not work for me. I've watched the tutorial and followed instructions but something is broken. I select an event with a dozen or so pictures, then hit the calendar button. Then I choose the Big Date theme, set the start month to June 2009 and set the # of months to 1. I do not choose to import any ical calendars. After clicking the OK button, the dialog windows stays open and the OK button goes gray. Nothing ever happens. The only thing I can do at this point is Cancel to dismiss the dialog. If I try a second time, both the OK and Cancel buttons are grayed out. At that point, the only thing I can do is kill iPhoto with Activity Monitor.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? Please help a mac newbie!

The minimum number of months in an iPhoto calendar is 12 - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3412 - try doing a 12 month calendar and I think it will work. Hanging is not a good "error exit" for the incorrect number of months but I suspect that is what is going on

• Can't see photos while creating a photo album

Hello,
Why will my pics not show up when trying to create a photo
album in DWCD3? I have tried to open any photo, but it never shows
in the folder as being there. They are all jpg, of gif so I am
puzzled how to create this?
Thanks
I have fireworks cs3 loaded. no matter what photo folder i
navigate to, no pictures show up once the folder is open? I know
all of these pics are in jpg or gif, as they are my photos.
Any help?
Angie

Angie, are you having the problem during the photo album
creation process, or after it finishes? I'm guessing that it's
after it finishes.
I suspect you're running into a pathing issue, as if you've
specified "images" as the directory where to
create your album, the Create Web Photo Album routine will place
the index.htm file in the images directory, and the thumbnails in
an images\thumbnails subdirectory with the full-size images in an
images\images (yes!) subdirectory.
If you then run your index.htm file from where it is, it
should work fine. But if you move it (or copy the code to a file)
to your web's root directory, the path to the images will be
broken. So you've got to edit the code to correct the new pathing.
Anyway, if this isn't it, or if you're still having trouble
with this, please be a little more specific about where exactly you
are running into the problem and we'll try to help.
Cheers!

• When creating a photo book, how can one import photos older than 12 months?

I am trying to create a photo book (I'm using iPhoto 11). For my project, I'm trying to access photos older than 12 months, but that is not an option in the photo library at the right of the screen.
I have tried to click and drag the old photos into my project event. They show up fine in "photos" but do not show up in the photo library!
I have also found that photos downloaded from a CD do not show up in the photo library either.
Anyone have any thoughts?

You can not - they are soreted by date
-- the only solution I have seen is to put them in an album sorted the way you and and then use the batch cnage command to redate them with a small invrement between so a data sort matches your desired sort -- I personally do not want to redate a bunch of my photos nor do i want to have to go through and un-re- date a bunch

• Create a photo collage from iphoto

I am trying to create a photo collage from pictures from iphoto but I have no idea where to begin. What program do I open for this and do I do a lot of cutting and pasting? I am new to the computer thing so any help would be great.

lilgag:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There are several 3rd party application that will take a folder of photos and create a collage or mosiac of them. One will create a selected picture out of the rest of the photos. They may or may not do what you want. Search VersionTracker.com for "collage" or "mosiac".
The other way, as you're mentioned, is to use an image editor that will let you create a blank canvas and then open, cut and past other photos to it. Photoshop Elements would be my choice for a 3rd party editor for that and most other edits. Here are a couple of examples of the extreme types of edits that can be performed by it with a little experience.

• IPhoto freezes when I try to create a photo book

iPhoto 9.5.1, MacOS X 10.9.5
I create photo bokks with iPhoto since 2006 and never had a problem with that. The last book I created was just 2 months ago.
Now I tried to create another photo book with appr. 300 photos, but whenever I click "New Book" iPhoto will show the beachball for 10 or more minutes. When I quit iPhoto and restart it, it will ask to repair the mediathek because that is corrupted. However, even after the repair I cannot create a new book!
Please help!

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists when trying to create a new book. Does it?
NOTE: FWIW I prefer to create a new library for each book I make because that way I can isolate it from the day to day usage that my main library gets. It helps isolate it from accidental deleting of photos already in the book in case I want to order another copy at a later date. The library is small enough that it can be "archived" to a CD or DVD disk. I use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to transfer the photos I want in the book from my main library to the book library.
You will still need to determine what is wrong with your main library.

Can anyone help???
do i need to revert to the old iphoto or is there a way to have a picture in the background with a bigger text box on one of teh photo books now avalaible?

And quite frankly I would recommend creating a Path and using »Embed Path« instead of a Brush as Actions that include Paths can be more easily transferred without the risk of forgetting the Brushes.
