Trying to deactivate PRE8 on one computer, to register on another

Greetings, all.
I got a new computer, and when I loaded PRE8 on it, I was told that I exceeded my allowed installs of PRE8 per my license. One of the options it gave me was to deactivate PRE8 on one of my other computers, and it had to be verifiable by Adobe.
So, I launch PRE8 on the computer I wish to deactivate it on, and after much hunting, find the deactivate function under the HELP pulldown. But, guess what? The deactivate link is never hot. I've rebooted the computer, turned off the (new) computer with the PRE8 Loaded, but nothing seems to help.
Do I have to uninstall the program on the new computer before I can deactivate it on the old one? I'd really rather not do that if I don't have to.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Chat wasn't particularly helpful, but during the 2nd iteration with Chat, I figured it out on my own.
FYI and future use: To deactivate, you must be in a project-work view (any project, new or old, it appears). Then and only then will "deactivate" be "hot" under the "HELP" pull-down menu.
My problem was I was trying to do it from the "gray" blank screen, with no project open, just the pull-down menus across the top. One would think that "deactivate" would work from such a state, but apparently not.
So it is what it is.

I dont know if you have your music on your other computer was on itunes, but if it was, make sure that you signed into your itunes account on your other computer. If you are signed in then your music should show up in your library.

Trying to move VI from one computer to another w/ all sub VI's

Hi all
New to the community, LabView, and computer programming; needless to say, I need some help. I'm trying to move a VI from one computer to another, and this VI has a number of subVI's used in it. When I tried to move the VI itself, I'm not able to run it on the new computer because the subVIs aren't there; in their place are a number of gray question marks. I figure I need to go find the subVI's on the other computer and move them over as well, but (a) the computers I'm working on are so disorganized and jumbled that I can barely find anything and (b) there's a lot of subVIs that need moving, and doing an individual search for each would take forever. Is there a way I can move the VI over while automoatically taking the subVIs it uses with it?

The simple solution is the source distribution under the build specifications.
Buy you really should clean up your directory structures. If you can't quickly find a VI, it is next to useless. Then I highly recommend getting a source control software to maintain your projects. Something like Tortois SVN works very well (and is free).

Trying to take songs from one computer to another

I am using iTunes on one computer with three ipods. My mother has a laptop and she wants to put all the songs from my computer onto hers so she can use her ipod on her laptop instead of using mine. I searched online to see how to do it and was told to plug ipod in and click on enable disk use, then I went to my computer and dragged over the artists and songs from my music to the ipod. I then plugged the cord for the ipod into my mothers laptop and dragged each artist into itunes under music. When I tried to eject her ipod it said it was in use so I just left it in. When I had plugged it in a box came up that said that the ipod could only be used on one computer so if I wanted to use it on this new computer I would have to delete it. I thought that's what I was supposed to do so I pressed delete. I went through the songs and took out ones I didn't want and then synced her ipod. I took it out and when I go to play a song that is listed under music in the library it says it can not be found. It only works when I have the ipod connected. My father wants to use the laptop as well and I don't understand what happened. Did I mess it up when I pushed delete? Should I take everything off her ipod and then redo it all on my other computer? Although an iPod can be used in disk mode, it is easier to move songs from one computer to another using a USB flash drive.
When the songs are on the computer where you want them, add them to the iTunes library on that computer, and then you will be ready to sync the iPod.

Tried to transfer songs from one computer to another and lost most of them

I had iTunes installed on one computer but the program was removed so I reinstalled it on another computer and thought that the songs on my iPod would automatically be uploaded into iTunes. There was a screen that popped up that asked if I wanted to replace the existing playlist from the old computer with the new libray. I mistakenly selected yes and now all of the songs I had on my iPod are now gone. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get those back somehow? Help me please!

Pressing "Yes" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in iTunes unfortunately does exactly what it says. If you linked to an empty iTunes it will have erased your iPod as there were no songs to replace yours with. There are some data recovery programs on the market but I don't know how technically or cost effective they are. Here's an example I found using Google : iPod Data Recovery

Replacement Photosmart 6520 not installing on one computer but fine on another

I'm bewildered. I was having an issue with my 6520 not printing black ink, and was sent another (same model) printer as a replacement. On my Windows 8.1 laptop, it installed just fine. But on my Windows 7 desktop, the installation software cannot find the printer on the network. The HP Print and Scan Doctor found it, but was unable to print a test page. The printer is obviously on the network because the laptop can use it. The blue light is steady and reports connected to my network. I've manually entered the IP address but it remains invisible to this one computer. (Heck, my Android can access it!) I've disabled firewall,uninstalled and reinstalled twice, and am pretty frustrated right now. Anyone have a clue as to what's going on?

I understand you received a replacement printer, of the same model, and now you are having some difficulty installing it on your computer running Windows 7.
Have you tried the Printer Install Wizard (PIW)? The HP Printer Install Wizard for Window was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer.

Text Track font is missing on one computer, but not on another

I brought in a text track into my QT movie, then saved the whole thing as "self-contained". The font that I set for the text track (with QT descriptor) is Verdana. The problem is that on one computer, the text shows up fine, yet on another laptop, the text shows up as a bunch of boxes instead of characters.
I know that laptop has Verdana as a font on the system, so I am not sure what's going on.
has anyone had that problem before?

I use a lot of text tracks in my "movies". Since mine are made on a Mac I also use Mac "specific" fonts for some of them. When viewed on a PC the Mac only font always defaults to an appropriate substitute and no one is the wiser.
If there is an issue with a PC only font it should also revert to a similar substitute.
Other issues could be a corrupt font or even duplicates or a conflict.
You may want to experiment a bit with some text track QT files.
Create your plain text (.txt) file and import into QuickTime.
Export it (with text descriptors) back to a text file so you can edit the font. Make a few versions and test the file onvarious computers (Mac and PC).

I have created a slideshow on my home computer but need to be able to edit it on my work computer. I have all of the photos on both computers, but I don't see how to transfer the slideshow. It is an extensive show with a lot of editing that has already been done.

I just purchased a new Nano and, having dial up internet at the house and having just seen my kids setting up their new Nano's this Christmas, I expect to spend the next few days downloading and updating the software on this Nano(Why doesn't it come with updated software is another question). But I was wondering, can I use a computer (with iTunes) at work that has a very fast connection to update the software on the Nano but NOT register it on this work computer?

You don't need to register an iPod for it to work and you can use it on multiple computers so you can use your work computer any time you want to update it. If you choose to register it, once that's done you won't be required to register it again on another computer. One thing you need to be aware of though is that if you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
