Trying to delete photos without loosing them completely...

I need to delete pictures off of my iphone to free up storage space.  If my photostream pics are automatically downloaded to my iphoto and aperture on my macbook, can I delete them from my phone's camera roll without loosing them on my computer?

Have you confirmed that the photos have been imported into your libraries?  In iPhoto if the Photo Stream preferences are set like this:
your Photo Streame photos have been imported and will be in an Event.
If that's the case you can delete the photos from the Camera Roll on the phone and they'll be save in the library.

How can I delete all photographs in stream of my iPhone 4 without loosing them on my mac? Because I have too much photographs
in my phone's memory and I need to know a simple methode to get them off.

Login to iCloud.com, hit the "Reset Photo Stream" button. This will delete all photos stored in iCloud, but not any photos pushed to any devices. Then, on your phone, Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream>Off. This will delete all photos in your Photo Stream album, on your phone. This will leave them on your Mac as long as you don't turn Photo Stream off on your Mac. If you first import them to your iPhoto library, you can then turn Photo Stream off on your Mac & they will remain in your iPhoto library.

  • Major Problem Trying to Delete Photos

I never tried to delete photos before from Lightroom and now I find that it is exceedingly weird. I have a set of about 100 photos I want to delete. I guessed at what should be done. Highlight them, hit delete. So I do that. I select 100 photos, hit delete. It asks me if I want to remove the photos from lightroom only, or delete them completely off my hard drive. I select remove from lightroom only. I do that and find that only the 1st photo out of 100 has been deleted. No matter what I do, only one photo is deleted. Lightroom tells me that 100 photos have been selected but will only delete one.
It took me a very very long time to delete 100 photos. Surely there must be a way to do batch deletes?? No?
    help!
Also, I just found out the same issue with keywords. I wanted to assign the same set of keywords to about 90 photos. I highlighted them all, assigned the keywords, and then found that only photo #1 has key words associated with it. All the other photos have nothing even though they were selected.
What is going on with Lightroom?
    Mac, OS X 10.4.9, Lightroom 1.1.
    Thanks

    Anita:
Tom said that Delete of several photos, multiselected in filmstrip is not working. Instead, only the "most selected photo" is deleted.
This filmstrip behaviour differs from grid and behaviour described in help.
This is usability bug, that breaks one of the main UI consistance rule: "if you have similar looking controls, they should behave the same way".
    LR has other such bugs:
    1. histogram view in develop and in library - similar look, different behaviour.
    2. Loupe view and Develop - scroll by mouse wheel on background around picture works in loupe and don't in develop.
    3. Double click on background around picture in Loupe brings Grid, while it is not in Develop
    4. One click on word "Exposure" in Quick Develop resets it, while it is not in Basic Develop (only double click works)
    etc,...
No a big deal, but very annoying.
I think LR team should make some UI Experience profiling.

And what the reasons? I don't see any.

  • I tried restoring deleted photos, now my i photo albums are showing blank spaces with question marks on where there should be photos!!

Can someone help me! I tried restoring deleted photos using time machine...I know I shouldn't have fiddled! When i went back to my i photo albums some of the photos had disappeared and in the space was a grey square with a question mark in. The photo still shows in the top area but i can't put it into a space. I have i photo 08. I don't know if it is an i photo album problem or I have in some way corrupted some of my photos. When i right click on the question mark the photo appears and I can drag back to the top area, it just won't show up in the album. Any suggestions? Thanks

Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • There is no trash can at the bottom of my iphone5 when trying to delete photos.  so how do you do it.  it has two boxes, share and add to

When trying to delete photos from my iphone 5, there is no trash can at the bottom, only two boxes one says share the other add to.  So how do you delete photos

he only photos that would have the trash can are those that you take with the iPhone camera. Other photos are handled through the sync process in iTunes.

Ask Apple to re-enable it. I had an unauthorized purchase last October. They disabled my account until the problem was solved. However, I asked them to reopen it, and they just asked me to provide some security information (billing address, a recent purchase you made, etc.), and then they re-enabled it.

  • Please help - trying to manage photos without deleting them!

I am trying to manage the photos on my ipad, because it is full.
I have imported lots of photos directly from my camera, and these are also backed up on my pc. I want to remove them from the ipad without deleting them on my pc, however when I select them for deletion on the ipad,  I get a message asking if I want to "delete them everywhere" and I am worried that I will lose them altogether if I accept.
    But.......
There is no alternative option offered. So the result is that I don't dare delete them and therefore my ipad remains full.
Does anyone know the way around this?
    Thanks.
    Baffled of London.

Have you copied the photos into other albums that you've created directly on your iPad ? If you have then that effectively just creates pointers to the photos, so if you delete the original photo from the iPad you will also be deleting all pointers to it and therefore remove it from any albums that you've added it to on the iPad. That is one reason why the 'delete everywhere' message appears.
Or do you have photo stream on (Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream) ? If you do then deleting a photo that is in your photo stream will remove it from any device/computer that is seeing the Photo Stream album.
Otherwise it shouldn't be removed from anywhere. I assume that by backing them up on your PC you copied them over by the windows camera wizard or something similar, you don't just mean an iPad's backup ? Any photos copied over by the camera wizard won't be removed if you delete the same photo from your iPad - if you want to be sure then delete just one of them from your iPad, then connect the iPad, and the copy of the photo on your computer should still be there when you disconnect it.

  • Running out of internal storage space! Want to make room by deleting photos WITHOUT LOSING MY PHOTOS! Can I delete the Camera Roll yet still keep my photos in Photo Stream?? Will doing this free up ios storage? Does Photo Stream auto delete ever?

Hello, I am out of internal storage on my Iphone 4 ALREADY (Just purchased 3 months ago!). I need to clear up some space so I can do updates and take new photos. I was thinking about backing up my Photo Stream to the icloud and then deleting my Camera Roll.
1.) Is this a terrible idea??? I do NOT want to lose those photos! But I NEED more space on my phone!
2.) Will deleting Camera Roll free up space (a sufficient amount? My Camera Roll is at 4.5 GB)?
3.) Will deleting Camera Roll delete my photos from Photo Stream also? It doesn't seem to.
4.)  Does Photo Stream ever automatically delete photos???
5.)  Is there anyway I can save the pictures from my phone to my computer??? I can see the photos on my computer when viewing them through Photo Stream, but those are not permanent, correct?
This is one of the most ridiculous, confusing and unnessacary things I've ever known! Why oh why can't we just have a good ol' SD Card??? (My Droid never ever ran out of storage and I had it for 2 years...)
I tried backing up my photos in Itunes, but I don't have a new enough version. I tried downloading a new itunes and it still tells me I don't have the new version.
I have been working on this for 4 hours, its 2:30 am and I am going to bed. I am sorry I had to ask, but I've been searching and searching and just cannot find the answers. Thank you so much for your help!
6.) Also, I haven't been able to find the videos using the Icloud or the Photo Stream either...
7.) Do you have to have your device (pc) synced with icloud to access the info you backed up from iphone?? Like can I show my cousin my photos at her house using her computer by just loggin on??? Or can I only view my contacts, calender, mail, notifications, and such?
8.) Where on the icloud would one find text messages or other saved info??
Thank you so very much for helping me!!!

What I would say is best is to import the videos and photos to your computer so that you can delete camera roll photos with a copy of them in your possession:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083
In regards to backing up Photo Stream
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486:
Does Photo Stream use my iCloud storage?
"No. Photos uploaded to My Photo Stream or Shared Photo Streams do not count against your iCloud storage."
However, you can do the tedious task of moving your camera roll pictures to photo stream by ensuring photo stream is turned on for your device and take a screen shot of each picture in your camera roll to move it over.
To take a screen shot, just press the "Home Button" and the "Sleep/Wake Button" at the same time while viewing the image.
1.)  It's not a terrible idea, it can be tedious though.
2.)  Deleting a bunch of photos/videos from a camera roll 4.5GB in size can definitely free up space
3.)  Photo Stream photos, as you said, appear to stay upon deleting the photos.  (Tested it personally)
4.)  Photo Stream has a limit according to:  (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4858)
Essentially, it won't erase your photos until you tell it to.
    5.)  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083  (As shown above)
6.)  To update iTunes, you must download and then "Run" the download you get off the website.  Otherwise you will just have an installer program sitting there not updating iTunes.
7.)  You can bring up your Photo Stream pictures anywhere you have Photo Stream capabilities.  For a computer at someone else's house, they would have to have the iCloud control panel (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1455) on their computer and be signed into their Photo Stream and viewing your profile's pictures (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4379)
8.)  On iCloud, you can backup your text messages, but you cannot view them independently on www.icloud.com.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4859
"You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails"
Hope some of this information helps!

  • Photo crashes trying to delete photos

Hello. I'm a very satisfied user of iPad 3G and during my vacation, I imported photos from my camera to my iPad. But I had some difficulties getting rid of the photos imported (more than 3000). So as people recommended online, I used Image Capture to delete all of them at once. But when I tried to look at Photos on iPad, there still are more than 380 images left. When I tried again on Image Capture, the app is telling me that there is no photo left. And same thing on iPhoto. But on my iPad, they are there! Plus, when I try to delete them, Photo crashes. I tried hard reboot and nothing got better.
    Please help.

  • How to delete photos without a keyword

I have 10,000+ photos from my son's football season in Events in iPhoto 09. I only want to keep the ones that I have marked with a specific keyword. This seems like it should be a simple task but I can't seem to figure out how to select photos without a keyword and then be able to delete them from my library. Can anyone help?

make a smart album Keyword is not "your special key word" and delete the photos form that album
