Trying to Delete Stubborn Files

So after trying to Log and Transfer some files from Final Cut Express (yes, express...) I ended up with these strange files taking up huge amounts fo space on my hard drive!
I ended up with a file that is a whopping 180gb and the second clip is saying it is zero kb in size. I can not delete the files. They do not drag or drop, I cant open there enclosing folders and i cant simply two finger click to delete them either. (open enclosing folder and move to trash are simply not given options)
I can access the Get Info option to see the persmissions and all it says is "You have unknown access"
When i try to simply open them they throw up a blocken alias warning. Delete Alias does not do anything, and I can not Fix the Alias as the original files no longer exist on my camera.
The files have the .mov file extension and yea... really trying to avoid having to do a full reinstal of my system!
any help would be great!

I have the same issue but it's also impossible to drag or send these 6 MP4 file to trash.
It happened after I tried to delete them form Vuze.

Have you confirmed that you successfull purged iTunes Match by also looking on an iOS device? If so, keep in mind that Apple's servers may be experiencing a heavy load right now. They just added about 19 countries to the service and I've read a few accounts this morning that suggests all's not running perfectly right now.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

If she can't remember the ID/password, she will need to go to https://iforgot.apple.com to recover it/reset the password or she will have to call Apple and speak to someone in account security.

Problem when trying to delete rejected files in LR 5.2.

When I try to delete rejected files I enter the library module, select all photographs by their rejected flag status and using the cmd and backspace keys, I get the usual message offering me the options of canceling, deleting from the disk or remove from catalogue. Choosing delete from disc I then get a pop up window that says there were (x amount) of files that could not be moved to the trash folder. It does this whether I try to delete all images flagged as rejected at the same time or go file by file and delete them in ones and twos. I am using a mac. The trash folder is empty.

Got it sorted so I thought I would share the solution here: The problem wasnt related to LR 5.2 but was to do with Mac OS X 10.8.5 AKA Mountain Lion. I had also noticed that I was having an issue around deleting anything on my MAC. When I tried to delete a file from anywhere I was asked to submit my password. The message I got was finder wants to make a change please submit password. Hi I am trying to delete some files from a flash template I purchased, when I open the .fla file in flash and go into the library, I would like to delete the contact box and the mp3 player, when I locate those files in the library and delete the files, the website no longer opens up (it will not work when I delete those files from the library) what am I doing wrong ? please help, I am fairly new to flash.

I am trying to delete a file called Novamediadisksupressor

It is a unix Executable file and it was installed when i tryed to use Vodafone Mobile Broadband software. Now i ama trying to use another usb stick also by Huawei and the computer can't install the software . It olny recognizes the stick for a moment and then i cant find it anywere.
I have deleted the vodafone app and the modem script for huawei tha i fount and then i tryed to delete a vodafone folder that i found in Macintosh HD --> library-->Appsupport but it tells me that it is in use.
How can i delete it.
My macbook pro has 10.6.8 leopard snow.

If you're trying to uninstall the Vodafone software by searching for it in the Finder, you'll almost certainly fail to get it all. It's scattered all over the system. Use the uninstaller or instructions provided by the vendor. If you're following the vendor's instructions, boot in safe mode.

You should also be aware that the Huawei device probably won't work unless you boot in 32-bit kernel mode.

USB broadband modems should be avoided unless you have no other choice. Use a mobile WiFi hotspot instead. It needs no driver.

Firefox won't re-install, saying that it's running. I was trying to delete the files manually.

I tried re-installing firefox and it wouln't let me, saying that i had to close it first. so i tried to manually delete the files instead of uninstalling and now nothing works.

Reboot the computer. That will close everything.

I have a tabular report displaying the uploaded files with one of the columns showing a delete icon.
When you select the delete icon it has Column Link details of the following

Why not do the following then...
I think confirmDeleteFile is a custom function correct? As the second parameter, just pass in the file ID. Then in the function use JavaScript to set the value of P11_DELETE_ID to the file ID. Then call doSubmit('REMOVE_ID');

Trying to delete a file with Powershell script ran by a service but issues with uac

I'm having issues with a script that will delete a file on the C-Drive of a server. the script looks like this:

The script is initiated from a Nagios quick action which will use nrpe to pass the host as parameter and make the nscp service, which runs as local system, run it. It works perfectly on servers that have no uac enabled, but I can't get it to work on servers
with uac. I've tried numerous options, but none seem to work. Any tips or advice to get this working with Powershell v2 code on servers with uac enabled is highly appreciated.

Hi Willem,
one thing to note: I don't see why your script itself has a hostname parameter.
One way around UAC has always been the Windows Task Scheduler. If you register a task as System run and triggered by an event, you can simply call the event locally (which doesn't require admin permissions) and it will perform the task.
I don't know how your Nagios construct works and the script by itself doesn't make much sense. If you want advice on how to do this without resorting to tasks, I'd need to know more about the system you are using.

I am trying to delete a file that will not let me

Ok , so I use to a Seagate Backup Plus Portable Driver 1T to hold and run certain games on mac. I am trying to remove something from my TRASH can , in which in wont budge.
- I try to EMPTY trash , makes the trash empired noise, but is still there and closes down the trash can
- Only appears in trash when the external is connected to the laptop
-Tried to delete in through the terminal, didnt work
-Tried restoring it, then deleteing it again, didnt work
This is casuing add ons and mods in my game to not function properly.
What am I doing wrong besides tryna play a game on an Apple computer?

First, never empty the Trash in the shell. It's dangerous and unnecessary.
In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-C, or select
Go ▹ Computer
from the menu bar. A window will open showing all mounted volumes. Select the one in question and open the Info window. What is shown as the Format in the General section?

Getting error code -1407 when trying to delete large file

I'm getting the following error when I attempt to erase a file that I just copied to my 1TB WD boot drive. The file is 2.94 Gb and is an uncompressed video file.
"The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -1407)."
I repaired permissions on the disk and still won't let me delete the file?

I copied the file to another drive and I can delete it. I can delete other files from the boot drive.

Trying to delete original files on card after Log and Transfer in FC 7

Log and transfer is working great. But how do I delete the original files on my 32 gb class 6 card? Can't just select and hit delete. In fact theres a typo in the pop up box, "Warning, The selected media cannot deleted". They forgot the "be". Weird.

as you have seen already, you can't delete those files using the L&T menu; however you can delete those files either from within the camera's menu or accessing the card directly from the OSX.

Trying to delete multiple files with very basic VBS script

I've found a script and modified it for an input box to accommodate multiple files being deleted but I'm not sure if it is capable or if I'm just using the wrong syntax within the input box:
Script:

obj.DeleteFile inputbox("Enter files and path to be deleted") 'Deletes the file throught the DeleteFile function
When prompted and I put just one file path to the file I want deleted it works, but if I put in multiple files and their paths either separated by colan, semi colan or space, it says "bad file path or number". If anyone knows of a VBS
or powershell script that references a text file or .csv spreadsheet that would be sooper handy!

Sounds like I need a different method all together. I found this script that references a .csv file with the folder paths and file names; does it seem legit to you guys? Also for files that are past the 256 UNC character length, is there a work
around for that?
