TRYING TO DO SYSTEM RESTORE BUT "NO PARTITION FOUND"

I have an HP Pavillion g6 notebook that operates on windows 8.  I was trying to do a windows system restore because my computer is having lots of issues lately and it is less than 1 year old.  The fan is constantly running very loudly, computer is hot, there seems to be a process running in the background and flash plugin is constantly crashing on mozilla/I.E. The problems got even worse when I upgraded from windows8 to windows 8.1.
When I went to do the windows system restore through the hp support assistant, it gets stuck, and when i tried to do it while powering on by continuously hitting f11 to get to the boot menu, it says it cannot restore due to no partition... I also cannot do a complete HP reset because when i power on my computer now since the upgrade to windows 8.1, it seems to skip the point when I am supposed to hit esc for boot menu and goes instantly to the start screen.
I looked into this missing partition mess, and tried "test disk" as suggested in this post, which seems to only assert the fact that a partition is missing and gives me know way to add one.
PLEASE HELP! any advice (and please keep in mind while i do consider myself rather computer savvy, i'm no geek squad so dumb it down a bit) would be VERY HELPFUL! My computer is too new for this crap.

I had an important app. (Memos by bluemarblesoftware.com) that I accidentally deleted. It of course had many memos, some with quite a lot of information. I did sync my phone on a regular basis and I think the memos should be on the desktop computer. I tried to do a restore function but I got a message saying there was not enough room on the iPhone. How much room is needed?

    generally you need 1.90gb
what you can do is back up your phone to your computer before doing the update, just as a precaution.

Sounds like a 'stuck' Shift key. You could try to take the key off and put it back on yourself (should be some info on that from ifixit) or just take it to your local Apple Store and have them fix it.

    Try a few things:
First, try double tapping the home button. You should see a row of apps at the bottom; these are your recenty opened apps. Hold your finger down on any of the icons until they start to shake, and a red minus() appears. Tap the red minus for each app. This will close the app, not delete it. If you have too many apps open, this can cause crashes.
If it still crashes, try the basic troubleshooting steps here:

    Hi Mike:
The second chapter of this saga.
I did order the recovery USB.
I did what it was asking and wiped out the HDD clean.
But the system is still unstable.
It took a very long time to configure itself. Several times I had to run the process again because it would either not boot or it would be just sitting there at the attached screen.
Sometimes it would go to Win8 boot window, but then suddenly come back to the same screen.
It seems that HDD is completly out. What is the warranty on the HDD? This laptop is just two years old.
And a side note: we had to send it for repairs twice already for monitor issues; the keyboard is not flat; there are some loose parts inside. I really expected better quality from such a reputable brand as TOSHIBA.
    -Ilya.

  • IPad 2 was updated to latest iOS 7 and has been not working right since. I have tried to do a restore but still continues to go into reboot mode by itself and very erratic. Can no longer trust it. I tried to complain to Apple but have to give them 20 buck

iPad has not worked right since it updated to latest software. Tried to question Apple about it but it costs 20 bucks just to lodge a complaint. Is this normal Apple behavior or am I missing something. Also anyone else having issues with upgrade to iOS7. It was working great until that point and now goes into reboot mode often and sometimes will continuously reboot several times. I have tried to restore but that didn't clear the problem. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • System restore but no need to restore external HD

I need to do a full restore from my Time Capsule (going to boot from Leopard install DVD, re-format internal drive and restore from Time Capsule).
How will the restore work with my external drive that I use for Movies? This external drive does not need to be restored, but is backed up along with my boot disk to the Time Capsule. When it comes time to restore, will Time Machine only restore the files to my newly erased and formatted internal HD, and ignore files in its back up that were from the other drive, or will it try and restore those too? If it does try and restore them, will it look for my external drive or will it chuck everything onto one drive?

yes. full system restore utility on the leopard install DVD restores the system drive only. all other drives have to be restored separately while booted normally using TM interface.
or will it try and restore those too?
    no.

  • Locked phone wants system restore, but cant enter pw to connect to itunes

My iPhone suddenly froze, said there was no service, then upon restart, told me it needed a system restore via iTunes.
I plugged into computer, but it would not connect to iTunes without a password on the phone.
The phone does not display the pw screen, so I cannot enter it.
I called AT&T and iPhone and got nowhere. They said I could pay $30 to troubleshoot. But told me they cannot remotely control the phone or pw anyway, so what can they do? (she had no answer)
Can anyone help me get past the pw lockout so I can get the phone to connect?

Does the iPhone display the Connect to iTunes prompt?
If so, it should not be asking for a password in iTunes to restore the device.
You can always try putting the phone in DFU mode, use the search in the upper right hand corner of the forums page to find instructions or search google.

When clicking to start Firefox IE starts instead. I have unistalled Firefox and reinstalled and thought I removed IE also but it still opens. I don't know of anything I would have changed or done that would have started the problem.

  • System restored but doesn't boot

The hard drive in my Macbook died. I replaced it with a 320gB drive.
We have a Time Capsule that Time Machine backs up to.
I booted from the Leopard install disk and restored from the time machine backup. The system said it restored successfully but then when it tries to restart and boot I get the gray screen and the spinning icon for a few seconds and then the system shuts off. It does this every time. The install disc is still in the drive so if it simply wasn't finding a startup directory there it should have booted from there.
I tried zapping pram and I used the Leopard install disc to make sure the HD was set to the Startup disc which it was.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Shawn

I have also run disk utility on the drive. Repair drive said the drive was OK. I repaired permissions which did some repairs to some printer libraries but that didn't make a difference in the system not booting.

  • System restore for multiple partitions

    Hi guys,
This is probably an easy question, and I think I have the answer from reading other threads, but I want to make sure I have the right idea before I start reformatting things!
I want to install linux on a partition of my 500 GB HDD on a T410 currently running windows 7, and I want to create backup disks to:
    a) Get a factory image on my newly sized windows partition (400 GB windows / 100 GB linux) in case I need to reformat the windows partition alone; and
b( Restore everything to the factory fresh windows only system, the way it shipped, in case I ever want it as all one windows partition again.
As I understand it (I've never played around with laptop installations before), I need to make a backup partition as soon as I turn on my new laptop, create a recovery DVD from that backup partition, and then I can delete the backup partition.  But that will only work for the factory fresh 500 GB windows installation, so, after I partition the drive, I have to create a new recovery partition to create new recovery DVDs, and then delete that recovery partition.
If I'm right on all that, I should end up with two sets of recovery DVDs, no recovery partitions (because I've deleted them after making the DVDs), and I can use the set of DVDs that corresponds to the way I have the drive partitioned when I choose to reformat.
Does all that make sense, or have I missed the boat on any of it?
Thanks for taking the time to ease my fears before I mess with my new laptop's drives!

Yes to both questions.  The factory media will give you the factory configuration, Q: and all.
You should be able to install to just about any drive.
