Trying to dowload store purchase from iCloud on new macbook air

All I keep getting is a message 'you must authorise this computer before you can download previous purchases". This mac is signed into my iTunes, iCloud and everything else on my apple account. I've even purchased a tune thinking that would authorise it but it hasn't. How do I authorise this mac please?

Hello kevindunn90,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with authorization issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
Authorize your computer using iTunes
You can authorize up to 5 computers, which means you can play your content on 5 different computers. To authorize your computer, you need to have access to it. You can't authorize a computer using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
How do I know how many computers are authorized?
If you authorized more than 2 computers, you can see how many are authorized.
Open your account in iTunes and sign in with your Apple ID. (Or open iTunes, click Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.) In the Apple ID Summary section, you’ll see the number of computers that you’ve authorized with your Apple ID. You can’t see the names of those computers.
Do I need to authorize my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch?
You don’t need to authorize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but you do need to associate your iOS devices with your Apple ID. Your iOS devices don’t use your available authorizations.
How do I authorize a computer?
Open iTunes on the computer you want to authorize.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You might need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
If your Apple ID uses an expired MobileMe account, you can still use it to authorize your computer.
If iTunes asks you to authorize your computer again, it won't use a new authorization. iTunes uses the same authorization for the same computer.
I tried to authorize my computer, but I’m out of authorizations. What happened?
If you didn’t deauthorize your computer before reinstalling Windows or upgrading your RAM, hard disk, or other system components, your computer might be using multiple authorizations. Try deauthorizing your computer a few times until it’s no longer authorized. Then authorize your computer again, and it will use only one authorization.
Get help
iTunes keeps asking me to authorize when I try to play my content.
I need to deauthorize a computer or deauthorize all computers.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
BobbyD

I'm attempting to migrate files from iMac to new MacBook air. The estimated time shown on the display is over ten hours. Is that correct? Is there a way to do it quicker?

It's quite possible, since you are using an MBA without Firewire, that it could take that long.
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
    >Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    >Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    >System Preference add-ons
    >All Unsanity Haxies
    >Browser and other plug-ins
    >Contextual Menu Items
    >Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    >Kernel extensions
    >Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking
will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.   The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:

    >In your /Home/Library/ folder:
    >/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)

If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the  Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

I've had the Sims 3 on CD ROM (for Mac and PC) for a few years and recently upgraded from an old white Macbook to a new Macbook Pro (the non retina display one). I pop the disc in and click install, but it always freezes on "Installing 3 out of 237 files" and never moves. It says "about 17 minutes" but won't move even 40 minutes later. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this thing to work?

I am trying to transfer my purchases from my iPhone 5 to my new Mac computer.  I get the message stating that it can only be synced with one computer at a time.  I have tried the 2 other ways and I get no options to transfer my purchases.  Help?

If you see Devices in the big list on the left-hand side of iTunes, it should show the name of your iPhone right below it. You can right-click (or hold ctrl and left click) on the name of the iPhone there, and choose "transfer purchases from iPhone".
If you're on iTunes 11, you won't see the big list of the left until you go to the View menu at the very top (where you see iTunes/File/Edit/View/etc) and choose Show Sidebar. Then do the same thing: right-click or ctrl and left-click on the iPhone's name below Devices and "transfer purchases from iPhone".
It'll ask you to authorize the computer for your Apple ID if you haven't yet; to do that, you just type your Apple ID and password in when it asks. If it says you are not authorized but doesn't automatically give you an option to do so, then you can go to the Store menu at the very top and choose "authorize this computer".

  • How do you remove a purchase from iCloud

Is there away to remove apps, purchases from iCloud ?

There is a way to 'Hide' the old deleted apps from the Purchased History of your iPhone/iPad's iTunes account (prevent from them from showing in Purchase History on your devices).
    Follow these steps:
    On your PC/MAC:
    1. Login into your Apple account on your iTunes on your PC or MAC (Menu > iTunes Store > Sign in);
    2. Go to the side tab on your PC/Mac called 'iTunes Store'
    3. Scroll down that page to the bottom. Click the link 'Purchased' under the heading 'Manage'
    4. Within the 'Purchased' page, click the 'Apps' tab > 'Not in My Library' filter
    5. Go to the the specific deleted Apps that you want to hide. Click the Cross icon on the top left hand corner of each App icon (cross appears when you hover over it). This will hide the app showing here (essentially it will ALSO HIDE the app from your Purchase history on your iPhone/iPad -- complete the steps below for this to take effect)
    THEN on Your iPhone/iPad:
    6. Sign out of your Apple ID account on your iPhone/iPad (Go to the 'Settings' app > Scroll down & Click 'iTunes & App Store' > click on your account (email) > then click 'Sign Out' when it pops up.
    7. Sign back in to your account
    8. Go to the 'App Store' app on your device > Go to Updates > Purchased.
and voila ..... The previously deleted apps are no longer shown here in your Purchase History and can no longer be downloaded! (they are hidden).
The apps can be hidden from all your other devices (iPhone/iPad) with same Apple ID provided you also do the sign out steps (6-8 above).  You would also need to do these steps (6-8) each time you hide new apps (i.e. Steps 1-5) on your PC/Mac.
On your PC/Mac, the apps can be unhidden if you want to (though I doubt you would want to) by going to iTunes Store > Account > Hidden Purchases > Manage
Hope this helps and easy to follow!
Please let me know if this works for you.
    Thanks
    Mike

  • I'm trying to use my older Acrobat 4 for printing files from an older Macintosh with system 9, so that I can store and use the pdf documents in a newer MacBook Air, with OSX 10.9.  Acrobat 4 worked previously but no longer works.  Any way to fix it?

I am trying to transfer older files from a Mac PowerBook G4, running system 9, printing those documents as pdf, using Acrobat 4.  Then those pdf documents will transfer to my newer MacBook Air, running OSX 10, allowing me to store and use them.  My problem is that Acrobat 4 no longer seems to work on the old Mac, and I don't know how to fix it.  Can anyone give me some suggestions?

You never know, someone might remember. What happens in detail when you try to use it, and HOW are you trying to use it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Skip the iCloud sign in for now.
Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages.  This should also sign you out of iCloud.
Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
    If that does not work
    Skip the iCloud sign in
Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
Change your Apple ID to the old one
Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.
Sign into iCloud on your device with the correct Apple ID and password

When I Download a previous tv show purchase from iCloud, I can't see where to view it. Help please!

You don't download or purchase tv shows from icloud.
If it's a tv show you've downloaded in itunes, after downloading, you should see a "tv shows" entry in the itunes library in the upper left area.  If you don't see that entry, go to itunes menu >> preferences >> general, and make sure there's a check in the box to display it.
