Trying to download an attachment from email, Word identifies it as .html file

I am trying to download an email attachment using Word for Mac to open. The file won't open. The name of the document changes to .html. Any help appreciated. I am new to Mac.

This solution will not solve the problem but maybe handle it:
1) Right-click on the attachment and choose "open with"
2) When it doesnt work, Right-click the attachment and "save to Downloads Folder". Go to the Downloads Folder and check the end of the file if it is .html. If true, select the saved file and choose "Get Info" from the menu or Press Command-I (which does the same). Then rename the file under "Name & Extension" to .doc

Delete the book from the iPad and download it again, directly from the iPad, not your computer. You will not be charged again for the download. See if the complete book downloads then. If not, either email Apple at the store or call the number they provide under support.

Have removed everything I can to make space but still need another 1.2 GB. Is there any way I can delete it so I can delete the version I wanted, or even better change to the SD version? The film is still queuing in the downloads list. I've tried edit and delete but that doesn't work. I also can't re-download the film from iTunes.

I am trying to download my contacts from my iTunes to my new iPhone. I never did a back up on my old one. So I tried simply downloading whats on my itunes contacts list and that didn't work either.

iTunes does not have a contacts list and only stores contacts in a back up file. You need to check if there is a back up that was made when the contacts were on the phone. If you do locate one then you would need to restore from that back up to get the contacts back on the phone.

You should be able to view them natively within iOS. If you can view them in safari and want to save them, then download iBooks or search for other apps that can view and save them.
