Trying to download free app
When ever I try to download a free app I need to complete my info and put a credit card number in. I've also looked at the guide to select the None option but I can't seem to find it where it says it is.
No, definitely don't do that. Your apple account is key to your whole iTunes and beyond world.
You have to have an up to date account, with credit card information or now you can use Paypal, even if the app is free. I have yet to find a way to do that in the settings of the iPod touch orr iPhone for that matter! You have to do it online when you are in your Apple ID account (Which I believe you are in when you post here?) You can also get there through iTunes. When you are in the iTunes store, you should see your ITunes account name in the corner of the iTunes browser. If you click on that, it will take to your account settings and payment information. You'll need to put in a cc or choose Paypal to complete the set up.
THEN you can go back and get the free app. And it won't charge you - it will be free but apple requires that you have an up-to-date functioning account. Annoying, but true.

Your account needs to have a credit/debit card on file. If you don't have one, you'll need to setup a new account without one.

If you have an existing ID, & you don't want to use a credit card, you'll have to redeem an iTunes gift card. If you don't want to do that, you'll have to create a new ID by following the directions here, EXACTLY:

Try to take a look at the top right corner on iTunes. Does it say "Sign In" or "Apple ID" like [email protected]

If you are an Admin on the system and the owner of the iTunes account, then you should be able to download, unless there was a problem with the app, and Apple has blocked it.
If your not an Admin or iTunes account owner... you are probably seeing Parental Control restrictions working as designed. -

If you can you can choose the None option and only put the card info in when you want to buy something. It also makes your account less suceptable to hackers as there is nothing that they can use to buy anything. -

Based on what you have said so far there is no way to answer your question. You must have a valid payment method on file with the iTunes store, even to download free apps. The payment method is used to verify who you are. The profile information in your iTunes account must match the information for the credit card you have entered. -
Hi I got my son a I pad mini for his Christmas first he used I tunes card which was fine then I entered my bank details to download a game you pay for now because I've entered the bank details every time he try's to down load a free game it wontlethim get it as its asking for credit card information ,
Can somebody tell me how I can get it back to when he first got it and he could down load all the free apps. Without card information or how I can get the card information bit away thanksGo to settings on your device then select app store. If you tap on the email that is shown it will give you an option to view your apple ID. When you are viewing your apple ID, tap on payment method and it will show a list of credit card options. The one at the bottom should say none. If you then tap none for payment options the credit card will not be connected. If you go on to the app store again you should be able to download free apps with out any issues.

HT1918 Error message when trying to download free App
When trying to download a free App I am receiving a message that my pay pal payment method can not be verified. I checked my pay pal account and my payment method is accurate and shows verified but this should not even matter because my default payment method on iTunes is a credit card.

Getting security message when trying to download free apps
It wants 3 security questions, but I try to choose a question, I get a blank screen and I can not download the app.
Tried going to the apple site but there are no 3 security questions there.
Annoying!
Canceling the security question leaves me without an app.
What can I do?
And yes, have done the reboot, App Store behaves the same.
