Trying to download OC X Mtn Lion and it says my Mac OS X version 10.6.8 is not compatible?

I am trying to download MTN Lion on and I get a msg that it's not compatible the minute I hit download button. Why would it be saying that? I have updated everything.
Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
That means that your computer isn't compatible. OS X Mountain Lion requires a Mid 2007 or later iMac. Read > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
As your computer isn't supported, you can't upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, but if your computer has got the Intel Core 2 Duo, you can upgrade to OS X Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949 Call Apple to purchase OS X Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

Apple's servers are being hammered by everyone and his dog trying to get the update the minute it was released. I'd suggest you wait a few hours, or perhaps until tomorrow, and then try again.

  • I am trying to download words with friends app and it says it is no longer available from itunes.  I had already downloaded it and did a update in my I phone 4 and it is still not letting me download it?

I am trying to download words with friends and itunes is saying it is no longer available for purchase.  What is going on??I

First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.

  • Im trying to download a movie from itunes and it says i dont have enough memory. I can see that I have 13G in icloud but i dont know how to add the movie to that memory

    Hi,
Im trying to download a movie from itunes to my ipad 2 but it says i dont have enough memory. I have 13G of space on icloud but cant figure out how to down load it to icloud. Can anyone advise please.

    Hi back,
Icloud cannot be used to increase internal memory of ipads, otherwise nobody would buy more expensive 32, 64, 128 gigabyte versions. Hype with "movies in the cloud" is more of itunes store, keeping movies available for you in order to download on any device. That does not go against your storage in the cloud, though.
So if you go to your computer and you purchased movie ( not rented ) you can download and watch.
There is something else to pay attention to, your ipad (if I am not mistaken) is not capable to run HD movies, make sure you do buy Standard Definition, and they will take less space on ipad.

  • I'm trying to download the app FIFA 14 and it says I don't have enough storage when I have more than double the storage it takes up whats the problem and how do I fix it? Thank you

IM trying to download fifa 14 but it says I don't have enough storage when I have not than double the amount it takes up does anyone know how to fix this?

To download and install an app the iPod needs storage available equal to about three times the file download size.
If you sync from your iTunes library less storage available is required.
Or delete some media from your iPod

If it is Windows 8 RT/Surface then that is correct, iTunes cannot be run on such devices.

I understand you are talking about your WiFi connection bars.
This does not mean your internet is as fast as your WiFi - rarely is.
Your unupdated system has little impact on the speed of the download.

also this takes huge amount of time, almost 10 hours to download, even using 3G Net connection.

    Hi kiwirudy,
I've had the same problem more than once since I started trying to download my 14 April purchase of OS X Mountain Lion.
I found a property list called manifest.plist in my ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder which had a Boolean property called failed checked. I unchecked it and afterwards I was able to resume my download.
Here are some steps I've found useful:
    Close the Mac App Store.
make a copy of the  ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder. For some strange reason the Mac App Store likes to just delete it in some circumstances, which will mean that one has to start one's download again from the very beginning.
Double click on the manifest.plist in one's ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder.
This should open it in Property List Editor.
Expand all the nodes (holding down the alt key and clicking on the highest collapsed node should do it.
Find a key called failed of type Boolean and uncheck it.
Save the manifest.plist and close it.
    Open the Mac App Store.
The red message "an error has occured" should now be gone and one should be able to resume one's download.
In the event that the ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder gets deleted:
start the download again (it will start from the beginning), pause it and close the Mac App Store.
copy your backup copy of the pkg file back to its sub-folder (it's a numbered folder in the ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder).
Open the Mac App Store and resume your download.
It should continue from where it left off.
This has worked for me so far. I'm holding my breath. Don't know if I'll still be alive when it's finished.
    Regards
    Nic

  • I am trying to download a calendar into ical and keep getting this message-Some of the events in this calendar have alerts that open files or applications.  What am I doing wrong???

I am trying to download a calendar into ical and keep getting this message-Some of the events in this calendar have alerts that open files or applications. Remove alerts or cancel
What am I doing wrong or missing??

I have this same problem in October of 2013. I am unable to import .ics files into Lion that I exported from my Snow Leopard MacBookPro without losing all of my future events (which all have alerts attached). All of the events from BEFORE today's date are successfully importing, presumably because they are no longer expected to trigger alerts via Apple Mail. After my first unsuccessful attempt, I learned that iCal was communicating with iCloud by default. I have since turned off iCloud, but I have not found a solution to the problem. Harvey

  • Mtn lion and Apple ID problem

I finally succumed and uploaded Mtn lion and could kick myself where the sun don't shine.
My prpblem is: I cannot open this forum,  my apps account and my apps update cos they need a login (this is my girl's username). I have two email addresses and tried through both of them to connect via the login, using my Apple ID (my e address), I have changed the password, with Apple sending successfull reset info to my E adress multiple times. I would then go back to login and be asked to place my user name only and then, be told it is taken (of course it it is I've had it since 2003). Or I would be notified that "An account utilizing this email address already exists", once again, (of course it it is I've had it since 2003). I decided to go over the Grand central Apple store to get some help, huh what a waste of time that was, the guy there told me it is not a situation they can deal with and I have to call in. That's the first time I've heard that one, usually the people in the stores are are real knowledgable and extremely helpful.
Anyway this has been a day and a half of wasted time. If there is anyone out there that can help or, direct me to someone who can, I would be extremely grateful

Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once. You can download from the Safe Mode.

i have an iphone 3 and im trying to download apps but it wont let me says i need 4.4 or later but my itunes is on 11

It's not referencing your iTunes version.  It's referencing your device's iOS version.  An iPhone 3G has a maximum iOS of 4.2.1.  If an app requires an iOS higher than that, it will not work on your iPhone 3G.
