Trying to drag and drop edit-clicking on image in viewer...
will not create a thumbnail that i can drop into the timeline. It just moves the image around in the viewer.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Your not dragging far enough. Hang onto the clip (from the viewer) until your over the video (or audio) track you want to drop it into. Also notice with way the cursor arrow is pointing. Down is overwrite. Right is insert.

I just posted this fix to another thread and thought it might be useful to post to all of the threads I read trying to fix the problem. Here it is:
Having the same issue over here with Mavericks 10.9.1 on a new Macbook Pro/Retina. Just now found a workaround/fix/whatever:
- click on your group in the group pane of the address panel
- click anywhere in the name pane and select all (command + a)
- click the "To:" or "Cc:" or "Bcc:" tab right above the group pane at the top of the address panel window.
The names of all of the individuals in the group will appear as an expanded list in whatever field you clicked. It takes a second or two to happen. -
I am trying to drag and drop one page of a .pdf into another .pdf in Acrobat Reader. I used to be able to drag and drop from one .pdf to another.
If you could drag and drop pages before, it wasn't in Reader. You no doubt had Adobe Acrobat (Pro or Standard) which shouldn't be confused with Adobe Acrobat Reader. They recently added Acrobat to the name of Adobe Reader so the confusion about which product you had and/or have is understandable.

I would like to copy all the songs from one Ipod into another. All the songs are into my Itunes account, I tried to drag and drop the songs from the old Ipod to the new one but it doesn't work. Is there a way to do it ?
I share one Itunes account with other people from my family and one person would like to keep the same songs on the new Ipod as the ones which were on the old one.

If you do not have a local copy of a song which you have purchased (i.e. it is available via iTunes in the Cloud), you may need to redownload it before you can transfer it to your device. You may find the following article helpful:

transition".

Hmmm, I've never seen a movie that has been paused by an
interactive object just take off on its own again and simply
complete with no intervention. Are you talking about a
demonstration and not a simulation?

I DO find Captivate useful - just really frustrating when it
comes to developing interactive tutorial simulations. And what I
find most frustrating is that it's a really really good product -
but that doesn't quite do what I need it to do
Hence the rant .....
And what I meant was:
1. Right click - probably the biggest gripe. Yes, I know that
there are a few workarounds, but they all seem to require you to
start coding, or work in some situations and not others; if I'm
releasing a sim to 10000 people with varying setups I need to be
absolutely certain that it'll work.
How many applications do you know that don't use right click?
So Captivate must have full right click interactions (and by that I
mean - anything you can do with the left button you can do with the
right button).
2. Mouseover stuff. That example of yours looks pretty
impressive - not quite what I had in mind though - I really mean
transitions on mouseover to next slide, back to start of slide, to
slide x, etc etc. - example: to activate a submenu by hovering over
it, or to correctly show the change in a button's appearance when
you move your mouse over it.
I know you can do this with a rollover image - at least, you
could if it didn't crash my PC when I tried to open the image
- but that's so time consuming to have to manually
grab and overlay an image for every mouseover. So again, I really
need an 'anything you can do with a click you can do with a hover'
interaction.
3. Proper keypress interactions. I need to be able to detect
a keypress, regardless of where the mouse pointer is or where the
focus is. I know there's a partial solution involving text entry
boxes and jiggling with the shortcut key, but there are pitfalls if
the focus isn't in the text box. What I really need is an
interaction that covers the entire slide and simply detects a
keypress and gives me the same navigation options as a click.
4. Text entry handling. Yes, there's the text box
interaction, if you don't mind it not really looking like your
actual application
- but where's the pre entry text? Most apps will
squirt some default (preselected and editable) text into text boxes
- as far as I know Captivate won't - unless you klutz it using an
image - which you then can't edit.
And when you do edit the text in the box, the highlight
colours don't match system settings. And you can't get the text to
wrap properly according to the size of the text box - it sort of
scrolls horizontally. And the multiple correct answers is good, but
it won't give any leeway to spelling errors - other other sim
builders will allow you to allow, say, 6 out of 8 characters as
being enough to count as 'correct'. Oh, and there should be an
option for Captivate to monitor typing and immediately spot the
correct entry's been typed without waiting for an exit key or
click.
5. I might be about to admit I was wrong here ....
- my understanding was that you couldn't keep a
slide active for more than 3600 (?) seconds in a simulation, and
that if the slide reached its maximum time it automatically went to
the next one? Have to admit I haven't really experimented with that
side of things.
So are you saying that if you have a clickbox interaction
that moves to the next slide, and the user doesn't click it, and
you don't have a playbar, then the slide will just stay there. For
ever? If so, that does make Captivate a bit more useful to me!
Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick on that one.
I know all this may sound like minor niggles, but it's very
important to me that my sims look and behave as close as possible
to the original app as possible. I'm more relaxed about demos -
which is where I'm using Cap at the moment. In comparison to the
sim builders you get with LMS systems it looks fantastic and is
miles more intuitive - it's just that they tend to have all the
interactions I really need - and Cap doesn't.
If they can get what I've mentioned above into Cap 3 - or,
hope against hope, 2.1 - I'll be abandoning traditional sim
builders. -
I cant seem to get cd's that I have uploaded onto my iphone 5 via itunes. I have tried to highlight the items and drag and drop them into my phone but this isnt working...; This is really starting to frusterate me!!!

click on the black arrow in the search box and untick Search Entire Library

Within music Library can anyone please explain why after I select the option to sort 'Album by Artist' a number of tracks are being treated as separate albums? How can I fix this? I have tried to manually correct by 'drag and drop' individual tracks but that doesn't work. My music library includes a number of repeat album artwork images simply because not all tracks are being listed under the one album making my library more difficult to use than it should. Any advise would be appreciated.

Trying to drag and drop music in slideshow
I want to play 4 songs from my itunes library to play in this long slideshow and when I click on to drag them down into custom playlist box it won't let me drag the music. It highlights multiple songs when I try to drag and drop. what the....am I doing wrong here
I had the same problem.
Instead of dragging the icon with a vertical movement to the bottom, start with a movement to the left to bring the icon outside the window, then go to the bottom, then to the right to bring the icon in the right place.
In short : instead of "to the bottom", do "left, bottom, right". -
Trying to drag and drop a text parameter, but it only applies to one letter

In Motion 3, you could drag and drop a Text - Style Parameter to another text object.
Now, in Motion 4, when I try to drag a Parameter it only applies to the first letter of my text object.
So when I drag my Glow from one object to another, my Bleary In Behavior has a blue glow on T in THIS and a yellow glow on HIS in THIS.
I'm guessing this has to do with the ability to adjust each letter with the glyph tool. However, it won't allow me to drag the Parameter to each individual letter...
Which I see a need for...
But why would I want to do a time consuming thing like that?
It's stupid.

Thank youWell, I'm not sure what to say. I can't replicate your problem. I can drag the outline parameters onto a text object in the viewer, layers pane, or timeline and it copies it exactly as it did in Motion 3, over the entire text object.
However, if I have the glyph tool selected and try to do the same thing, it crashes Motion 100% of the time.
Neither situation is what you're reporting though. It helped me find a bug, and something to avoid however.

Drag and drop or place multiple images
Hi,
I'm working with Photoshop Elements 12 and would like to place multiple images (on different layers) in my project but am only able to place one image with the option "place" at a time. Is there a way to place multiple images at once?
Other option that works in Photoshop is drag and drop mutliple files from my finder window (I'm a MAC user) into the open project. This would create multiple new layers with the imported files. This doesn't work for me with Photoshop Elements 12. When I drag and drop, new projects are created with the imported files.

I've just tried that and the export 'current' option does indeed re-create the edited photo file with exactly the same file size at that shown in iPhoto. I did consider the 'current' option but was put off by the loss of the metadata with this option. But maybe the old drag and drop approach was the same?
It's curious that the resulting file size from 'export, current' is different (larger in the example I just tried) in comparison to that resulting from 'export, jpeg' (with either the medium or high option selected).
OK there seems to be a couple of reasonable options available although neither is as nice as the simple 'drag and drop' which used to be available!!! Why would they remove that option?? (and yet not for single files?).

Cannot drag-and-drop copy a section in thumbnail view in new Pages?
Just like in PREVIEW of a multi-page PDF, I used to be able to press OPTION+LEFT CLICK then drag that section down to copy it. Now that feature seems to be gone? I hope this is an error!
This is a very helpful feature I hope you bring back or perhaps tell me the new way to do this!? For documents with extensive, complex content (text, graphics, photos) I made lots of sections. This way I could drag and drop copies of things I wanted to re-use.Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5.
