Trying to enable/configure an IPS software module on ASA 5545

I've been trying to get our IPS module working on a pair of ASA 5545-X with nothing but grief.  First we lost our license paks, then I found then and genned the license files  FALCONXXXX.LIC. Cisco told me that I have to config the CX module and use Prime Security Manager to load the *.lic files.
Finally get that done but the IPS module is still inactive. Okay missing IPS image on disk0: copy that on to ASA and try loading it using the
sw-module cmds and return error is can't load image another service is running
So do I have to stop the CX after all this Prime Security manager stuff?  I can't use ASDM since it only wants an activation key (hex) which I don't have..
Ideas? suggestions?

The thing to keep in mind is what IPS you have purchased. There are three distinct types.
The classic IPS uses the IPS software module. That uses a subscription that is bound to your ASA via your Smartnet support and does not require an license file once the software module is activated using an activation key.
The CX module also has an IPS license option. That is configured from within the PRSM interface and will only be visible in PRSM - not in the "show module" output. Your output indicates the CX module is installed so if you have that IPS license type for CX (i.e. the FALCONXXXX.LIC) you need to follow the CX quick start guide and apply the license file via the PRSM GUI.
There's also an IPS license type for the sfr (FirePOWER service module) which is installed via the separate FireSIGHT Management Center and applied to the module remotely.

  • IPS software module management

Is it posible to manage (over IP) IPS software module (ASA5555-X) in a different way than through ASA management interface or I have to use mgmt int if I want to use IPS?

If you want to use the GUI, you need to use the management interface.
You can ssh (or telnet - not recommended as it is insecure) into the ASA from any interface where you have enabled ssh access and session to the module to configure from CLI (painful but possible to do).

  • Configuration Error This Software requires certain hardware or software. .

I installed FCP on my ibook so I could do some work in transit, and got the following error when I tried to open FCP. Is There a way around this?
Configuration Error This Software requires certain hardware or software which is missing - APG graphics card

    #29: Need AGP Graphics card
Shane's Stock Answer #29 – Error: “Need AGP Graphics card”
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302667
The Final Cut software is looking for a graphics card type that is required for that version of the software. FCP 4 and FCP 4.5 were released when AGP cards were the requirement. Attempting to open this on a Mac with a PCIe graphics card, such as an Intel Mac, will cause this error. FCP 4.5 is not supported on the Intel Macs. If you happen to have a PowerPC Quad processor Mac and get this error, you can try this hack:
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/finalcut_pro_on_oldmacs.html
You can also press the "esc" key as you launch FCP. This enables FCP to open and run, but know that it might not work optimally.
If that doesn’t work, or if you have an Intel Mac, you are going to have to upgrade to a supported version of FCP…and FCP 6, part of Final Cut Studio 2, is the latest version.

  • Error while trying to enable remote on hd insight cluster

I'm trying to enable remote on our hd insight cluster, but every time I do, I get this error:
"An invalid passthrough request payload was submitted"
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Are you enabling remote on your HDIsight cluster via the management portal or .NET SDK?
Are you following the following steps?
    To enable Remote Desktop
Sign in to the Azure portal.
    Click HDINSIGHT on
the left pane. You will see a list of deployed HDInsight clusters.
Click the HDInsight cluster that you want to connect to.
From the top of the page, click CONFIGURATION.
From the bottom of the page, click ENABLE
    REMOTE.
In the Configure Remote Desktop wizard, enter a user name and
password for the remote desktop.  Enter an expiration date in the EXPIRES ON box.
The expiration time of day is assumed by default to be midnight of the specified date. Then click the check icon.
You could refer the following link for details:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/hdinsight-administer-use-management-portal/#connect-to-hdinsight-clusters-by-using-rdp
Please Note that the user name must be different from the one used to create the cluster (admin by
default with the Quick Create option) and that the expiration date must be in the future and no more than a week from the present.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Malar.

  • IPS SSP module vs standalone 4200 series devices

Looking at price to performance ratio it seems that the IPS SSP modules are the winner.
The 4200 series devices however has hardware bypass which can ensure traffic flow is not interrupted even if the power to the IPS goes down. How likely is it that a malfunction of the IPS SSP affects the work of the ASA?
We are looking at ASA5585X S20 with IPS SSP S20 or same ASA with IPS 4260.
Any and all input in terms of pros and cons you are aware of will be appreciated.

Yes, you can have the IDSM2 module in your CAT 6K. However, please check how much traffic will be traversing the IDSM2 module since you mention internal as well as traffic towards the internet. Please ensure that the performance of the internal traffic is not impacted. Also depends on whether you will be configuring the IPS in promiscuous or inline mode.
Here is the datasheet for IDSM2:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2706/products_data_sheet09186a00801e55dd.html
You might even want to bundle a few IDSM2:

  • Record enable more than 1 software instrument?

I don't currently have Logic.I used to use it on PC(4.5)
I was wondering if it was possible to record enable more than 1 software instrument. What I would like to do is send midi from Live to Logic via IAC bus triggering Logic synths.Basically using Logic as multitimbral tone module. I like Live for working up arrangements but would like to use Logic for mixing/editing.
    Macbook Pro 1.83   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes, in Logic Pro 7 you can record-enable multiple software instrument tracks.
I'm using a similar setup with IAC.
    IMPORTANT:
If the tracks are assigned to different midi channels, make sure to
check 'Auto Demix by channel' in File > Song Settings > Recording...

    Hi,
    Please try the following.
    1. Open an internet browser type printer's IP address.
    2. Should bring you to the printer's status page.
    3. Select the networking tab at the top.
    4. Left hand side select IPv4 under wireless.
    5. Under DNS address Configuration select Manual DNS Server.
    6. For Preferred enter 8.8.8.8
    7. For Alternate enter 8.8.4.4
    8. Select apply. You might get a warning saying this could interrupt connection that's fine.
    9. Turn printer off for about 30 seconds then try again.

  • PageDef.xml is not found when trying to enable MDS

Our application uses JPA in the back end and fusion in the front end. we donot use databindings for integrating the backend object to the UI. I am trying to enable the mds by following the instructions in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/metadataservices-fmw-11gr1-130345.pdf.  Initially using filebasedmetadata service to check if MDS is working in our enviroment. Can someone help me in figuring out this issue.
    Bhoopathy

    1) Yes I am using file based MDS.
    2) the changed value is stored in the respective jspx file (chartingBreakdownL1.jspx.xml) when i log out and log back in the values are not restored from this file.
    3) In the log it is looking for the pagedef file  (chartingBreakdownL1PageDef.xml.xml) in the mds repository which is not stored as part of the mds file system. i have this file in the code base and using it for compiling but it is not getting saved to mds file system. It is trying to access this file and it is not able to read the values that is why it is saying "base read only = true". If you need this file is there a way to get this in the mds file repository.
I am running this locally as a standalone server. i dont have enterpise manager installed. i have enabled the logging in "oracle diagnostics logging configuration" . for oracle.mds i have to set to finest that is why i am able to get the logs.
thank you for the quick response.

    Hi,
When you first enable WAAS express on a device, it will define a set of policies for traffic optimization. Among those, there is one called BGP, which is conflicting with the current one and as a result, enabling WAAS fails and the error you saw is displayed
To solve this issue, you will have to change the configuration of your device to ensure that there are no classes or policies with the same names as the ones that WAAS will configure.
For your reference, below you can see a list of the configuration that will be added by WAAS Express by default:

  • Trying to enable HTTPs but facing issues

    Hi,
I am trying to enable SSL on my WebLogic server but getting issues.
Here is what I've done so far:
    Created custom keystore:
keytool -genkeypair -keyalg RSA -dname "cn=weblogic" -alias webcenter_portal -keypass welcome1 -keystore webcenter_portal.jks -storepass changeit -validity 720
    Created certificate for keystore:
keytool -exportcert -v -alias webcenter_portal -keystore webcenter_portal.jks -storepass changeit -rfc -file webcenter_portal.cer
Imported this certificate into cacerts (JRE's trust store):
keytool -import -noprompt -trustcacerts -alias webcenter_portal -file C:/Oracle/Middleware/jdk160_24/bin/webcenter_portal.cer
        -keystore C:/Oracle/Middleware/jdk160_24/jre/lib/security/cacerts
        -storepass changeit
After this, on admin console, selected my server:
Keystores tab > selected Custom Identity and Java Standard Trust > specified keystore details > Save
SSL tab > specified keystore details. One important setting I did is 'None' in Hostname Verification.
    General tab > enable SSL.
After all this configuration, I bounced my server.
However HTTPS is not working, Can anyone please guide/help where to look for problems?
    Thanks.

Try the steps in this link

  • SF300-48P gets error message trying to enable DHCP server in unit

We have a SF300-48P that has been used as a dumb switch.  The network is currently a peer-to-peer with all 30 devices (mixed desktop computers and some printers) having a fixed IP assigned or selected in them.  While trying to add a NAS device the device reported it needed a DHCP connection.  So, checking, I found that the latest firmware for the SF300 has a DHCP server inside it.  (At least that's what I get out of the "features" commnets.)  I downloaded the firmware from Cisco and upgraded the firmware to ver. 1.3.0.62.  I changed the password as required and then went to the "IP configuration".  I tried to check the box for "enable DHCP server" but got an error message something like  "must unplug all DHCP devices".  So I unplugged everthing from the switch except one computer with the IP fixed as 192.168.1.149 and tried to enable the DHCP server again.  But, I got the same error.
Does the SF300 have a DHCP server internally with the ver 1.3.0.62 firmware?  (or, did I misread the meaning?)
If the SF300 can be used as a DHCP server how do I go about enabling it?
( I am a complete n00b when it comes to networking so I will require some step-by-step guidance.)

Hi Terry, the switch must be operating in layer 3 mode. Additionally, any vlan interface created must have a static IP address. The error you received is most likely because the default vlan or any other vlan does not have a static IP (assuming you're in layer 3 already)

Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner and choose Force Quit. Look for the item that says Not Responding and force quit it.

Now the previous version won't open. I downloaded and tried to instal 6.0 without software update, which failed, and my old 5.5.3 Airport Utility still won't open.
iTunes no longer recognizes my airport express.
    Error Message:

Can't delete Airport Utility and reinstal from scratch as it is, “AirPort Utility” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X.
    Any sugestions?

I reinstalled AirPort 5.5.3 which worked, but the app still won't launch but iTunes now recognizes my AirPort Express, I just hope I don't want to change its settings.
