Trying to Export Palm Desktop to Verizon Voyager

I just updated my Palm Desktop (have the Z22) to PalmDesktop by Access.  I would like to transfer my calendar to my Verizon Voyager.  I heard that you can do it through BitPim.  BitPim wil recognize vCalendar or .vcs files or csv Calendar.
I do not have Outlook Express.  Is there a way to configure my datebook or calendar into one of those formats that BitPim will recognize?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
My best,
dbalsamo

    Use both Mac and Windows--had a PDA crash and bought an itouch. Any suggestions on how to sync the itouch to grab data from Palm desktop? Or export? (don't have Palm destop installed on the Mac)

    Since you do not identify which PDA, you can sync to Outlook on the PC and then get the Outlook data onto the iTouch. If a newer PDA, the install CD has a Sync options menu item where you can switch between Palm Desktop and Outlook. If you no longer have the original install CD or have an older device Pocket Copy from Chapura.com will move the Palm Desktop records to Outlook.
    There are possibly other options on Mac, depending on whether you sync to something other than Palm Desktop for Mac. Since I have not used a Mac is a couple of decades, I'm not qualified to outline these options.

    I have datebook data from 2003-present on my Palm Desktop v6.2.  I would like to archive everything before 1/1/14 by exporting the data into a *.dba archive, and then delete that data from Palm Desktop.  The export dialogue says I can choose to archive items I have selected, but does not tell how to select them.  I wish to select a date range -- specifically, 1/1/03-12/31/13.  Anybody know how to do that?

    Do the export again in Palm Desktop, and pay attention to where they are going.  It should show the directory where they are going to be saved.  If you still can't find them, do a "Find files" on your PC and search for .aba

    Try to "clean" uninstall PD and re-install 6.2. 6.2 has data loss issues, FYI. You can export the data to backup and if the data is lost, import the data to recover.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to Start --> Documents -->
    Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and
    copy. Then go to your PC desktop right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    If this is the first time you are installing Palm desktop and encountering a problem, skip the previous step.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer.
    Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below.
    C:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or
    PalmOne
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata
    *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go
    into your control panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck
    hide hidden files.
    Once this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your PC Operating System.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to delete. To make sure we have a good copy of the current registry, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    Go to start on the PC, in the search field type "regedit.exe" without quotes.
    Highlight COMPUTER, go to File --> Export. Should pop up with a Save As box.
    Current location is fine, should be in My Documents or save to a location you will remember. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer.
    Then reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks
    you for a username, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right corner of the hotsync screen.
    The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a separate folder on your PC.
    Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb2/common/article/28734_en.html
    Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
    With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
    Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
    With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
    For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.hpwebos.com webpage.

  • Can't install Palm Desktop 4.14, 4.2 or 6.2

    Help!
    I can not install any version of Palm Desktop.  I had a working version of 6.2, but with Palm support, tried to uninstall and reinstall 4.2 (for compatibility reasons).  After several weeks everyone has given up.  I run Windows XP Pro, SP3, am the only user on my computer, have admin rights and do NOT have a handheld.  I only use the desktop for the calendar and address book.  Now I am lost without it.
    I have uninstalled using Add/Remove Programs, deleted Palm and PalmOne folders, deleted every single Palm entry in the registry over and over again.  When I try to reinstall, the install stops after the Finish window, but does not continue to the second step which continues the installation with the hotsync options.  This is where I would tell it to skip.  The Palm.exe and many dlls never get installed on my computer.
    Obviously, there is something on my computer that is still remaining.  I've seen several posts with the same question, but not an answer that helps.  Any thought would be most appreciated.  Short of reinstalling the operating system and all software.
    TIA.

    I am running CA (Computer Associates) Anti-Virus.  It used to be called eTrust.  Windows Defender is running also.  The case is 51395405621.  It started on one computer but ended up trying to reinstall 4.2 on mine.  I should have left 6.2 on my computer, but didn't.  We were trying to get everyone on the same version because we share the calendar.  Most of us do NOT sync to a handheld.
    Yesterday, I tried installing in safe mode, but it didn't help.  Here's what I have tried over the past several weeks (in no particular order):  I have uninstalled using Add/Remove programs.  I have deleted every Palm, PalmOne and Palm Desktop folder.  I tried copying the .exe program from another computer.  It tried to start the program but gives and Invalid Configuration error.  I can't remember the exact error, but when I researched it, the information I found had to do with administrator rights.  But I'm the only user on the computer and I have admin. rights.  I also tried installing in safe mode as administrator.
    The closest we came is it tries to start Palm Desktop, but gives the error...Invalid Configuration...  The splash window for Palm Desktop is an old version per the tech.  I didn't look familiar to me, but it was blue and white and the date at the bottom was 2002.  He couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  So there is obviously something left on my computer that we can't get rid of.  Or find.  That is the closest we came to getting the program to start.  The tech downloaded 4.2 and 6.2 from the Palm website thinking our versions might be corrupt.  We ran several utility programs to clean the registry (USBregclean) and another one from Microsoft.  (I can't remember what it did.)  I talked to Microsoft tech support and my Windows Installer is NOT the problem.  It's working fine.  The Palm tech took over my computer, added himself as a user, installed under his login.  He and I have both deleted every single entry for Palm in the registry. This went on for over 2 weeks.  He finally gave up and said there wasn't anything more he could do.
    Right now, it's uninstalled, but there are some entries in the registry relating to Palm QuickInstall.  I would be happy with absolutely any version installed so I can get into my data again.
    Thanks.

    I had this problem as well. I solved it by using an old Palm Desktop download instead of the one that Palm is providing now. My old copy was provided as a zip archive and the single file in the archive was named simply setup.exe. I guess the only difference between my old file and the file that Palm provides now has something to do with the installation software (it may be InstallShield; I don't remember for sure). In any case, if you are having this problem you might be able to find a usable file out there somewhere.

  • Palm Desktop transport problem

    Has anyone tried to install Palm Desktop (specifically the version for the Palm TX) on a MBP?
    I've tried multiple times & get 'transport' errors each time.
    I actually sync w/ Missing Sync, but I think that you have to have Palm Desktop installed first?
    MBP 2.0/2GB RAM/120GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    You do not need to install palm software in order to get missing sync for palm os up and go. Just copy your (hopefully backup palm user folder) back and install missing sync.
    BTW:
    This procedure applies to PPC. I will receive my MBP on or before 24th, so I can't tell if missing sync will work on MBP right now.
    If not there is a solution to come as a Intel compatible version of missing sync version 5 was announced by mark/space (for end of march though).

  • Palm Desktop - Quits Unexpectedly

    I've been using Palm Desktop to sync my calendar only for years. Synced last night with no problem.
    Came home today and tried to sync and while trying to sync the Palm Conduit Manager unexpectedly quit. Same error happens while trying to open Palm Desktop.
    I've tried to uninstall/re-install Palm Desktop and associated files to no avail.
    Anyone seen this problem in the past and know how to fix in.
    I have installed no new software between the now, and the last successful syncing. My Mac is acting very much like a PC!

    Hi Erik,
    First off your 1st phone call if your going to call anyone should be Palm...not Mac. Sounds like your Mac is working fine..its just the Palm dektop software that is acting up.
    Before you do any of the following steps please make sure you have ALL your important data on your Palm / Computer backed up somewhere off the computer (CD / DVD etc).
    Reinstalling the Palm software is a good bet but the installers do not remove some of the files that may be causing your issue.
    Consider removing ~/library/caches, ~/library/preferences/com.palm.HotSync.plist and then trying again.
    If that still doesn't help I would try running your sync on an alternate user account and see it works over there.
    If it doesn't then I would HIGHLY suggest contacting palm.
    If it does then you get to do the fun fun fun task of troubleshooting your library folder in the affected user account.
    You can simply pull the entire ~/library folder out...but then your account will revert to it's factory state and you will need to put all your settings back in.

  • Troubleshooting Palm Desktop

    I have a '12 PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz with Super Drive running 10.5.5. I have a Palm Tungsten E which I use for its PIM functionality & to play games on. I also have a 20 GB Third Generation iPod & 4 GB Second Generation iPod Nano (my dad upgraded my Third Generation iPod from 10 GBs to 20 GBs so it's not a factory configuration but the warranty is already void anyways). I also have a Motorola e815 that has built-in Bluetooth.
    My problem comes when I try to sync my cell phone, '12 PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz & Palm Tungsten E all at the same time: it seems that my install of Palm Desktop 4.2.1 Revision D keeps getting corrupted & I'm getting sick & tired of having to constantly re-install Palm Desktop 4.2.1 Revision D. I tried the version of Palm Desktop that shipped with my Palm Tungsten E on its software CD-ROM but it seems that all versions of Palm Desktop I've tried including the Palm Desktop 4.2.1 Revision A which is linked to on Palm's Tungsten E support page all have Leopard compatibility issues. I would just put 10.4.11 back on my '12 PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz since it shipped with a bundled copy of 10.4 but if I do that I'll lose access to my 320 GB OWC Neptune FireWire Time Machine backup volume.

    I agree that Palm transistioning from Palm OS 4.1 to Palm OS 5 has been quite problematic for me. For starters not all of my games were compatible with Palm OS 5 mainly because Palm OS 4.1 & earlier versions of the OS ran on m68k hardware like Apple's older 68k Mac whereas Palm OS 5 has a m68k emulator built into it since it runs off or ARM hardware. The main issue is that the emulation isn't perfect & some software designed for Palm OS 4.1 & earlier is completely incompatible with Palm OS 5.
    On top of all that Xerox won their patent lawsuit against Palm claiming that the Graffiti hand-writing recognition technology present in Palm OS 4.1 & earlier infringed upon Xerox patents for their own hand-writing recognition technology. As such I've been forced to re-learn Graffiti since Palm was forced to use Graffiti 2 in Palm OS 5 due to losing their lawsuit against Xerox. Yes: Palm Desktop is still stagnantly stuck at v. 4.2.1 Revision D which was released back in the Tiger days.
    That's why people have been forced to constantly uninstall and re-install the old Tiger compatible but yet Leopoard incompatible version of Palm Desktop.

  • Running Palm Desktop without Admin Privileges?

    I'm trying to get Palm Desktop 6.2 working on my company's Win 7 laptop. To get it to (mostly) work, I had to install using the administrator password.  In its wisdom, the company does not give me permanent admin privileges but provides a temporary checkout mechanism for the administrator password.  Palm Desktop will only run only if I run it as administrator with the password enabled and checked out (and entered when the program is run), an incredibly tedious procedure just to run Palm Desktop.  Is there any way to do the password checkout just once and enable running Palm Desktop just as a user to avoid this tedious procedure?  Otherwise, running as a user, Palm Desktop will just hang at the splash screen.  I tried changing privileges (UAC) to all the program files in the Programs (x86)\Palm folder to allow access to users but that didn't help.  Is it to the data as well?  Thanks in advance for any help.
    mraki
    P.S.  I posted earlier with the missing files problem listed in the registry (Annanotifier.dll, pdn20.dll, AlarmNotify.dll, EASNotify.dll) and these still post a HotSync missing files error but seem to cause no problem other than the error message.  Thanks for any help here as well.

    I'm afraid I have no personal experience with what you're attempting to do...
    All I can remember is that Full Admin rights were supposed to be granted to the user account during the entire installation of Palm Desktop, and a successful HotSync performed.  Whether the check-out routine is doing this is beyond me.
    Once the above is complete, the rights can be revoked back to "User".
    You might want to search over at Brighthand.com for some information on this subject.
