Trying to find a CS3 installer

Why does the folder at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/mac/cs3/ contain an installer for CS2 but not one for CS3?
The folder for CS4 does not have and installer for CS3.
THe folder for  CS2 does not have an installer for CS.
But the folder for CS3 has a dmg file called "ps1001.dmg", which, after you download it, turns out to be a CS2 installer.
Anybody know where I can get a CS3 installer?

I fear that you are trying to download OLDER Software on a newer Operating Sysytem Meaning that you need to Install the Latest Version of Adobe on the Newer Operating System for it to work Properly. Be sure to always check the minimum System Requirements.

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows 8 PC and when I run SETUP.EXE it says "The Installer Database is corrupt" on both my original CD and backup I made.

    The error is here:
Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows 8 PC
This will most likely never work. CS3 wasn't even fit for Win 7. Delete the caps.db in the respective caps folder (info here) and then take the usual steps of running as admin, turning off UAC and security tools and possibly using compatibility modes, but as I said, be prepared that this may be futile and you spend a Sunday afternoon without achieving anything...

A google search of the problem suggested it may be an error related to the number of times I can reinstall this product due to licensing issues.  Please help.

Absolutely not. You are misinterpreting things. The activation check never happens when just running the installer, only much later. It means what it says - there is another "install" pending/ active on your system, meaning somewhere there is an (invisible) process still blocking things. Either way, since you haven't provided any real technical info, we can't advise specifically. if you are on Windows, you may want to check your task manager and terminate any setup.exe and msiexec.exe processes plus potentially may need to manually fix/ delete some registry keys. For anything beyond that you will have to be much more specific.

Do you own Illustrator CS3?  An older version should not only not be asking you to utilize a newer version in any way, it couldn't even know about the existence of it.

  • Cannot install Adobe CS3, Installer fails

    Hi, everybody,
I hope somebody can help me here, as for almost 3 weeks now I am trying to install Adobe's CS3 Design Premium and I can't get it to work. Adobe's tech support is very friendly and comes with solutions and things to try now and then but first response time is really slow (48h) and secondly they haven't found a solution yet, though being escalated up in Tech Support levels already.
    Problem:
Can't install CS3 (English version), Design Premium
    Platform:
WinXP Professional SP2 2002 (all patches) US
    Intel Pentium M 1.7 GHz
    1.5 GB RAM
    C:, D: Partition
On C: still 25 GB available
    Computer is in domain.
Have tried to install it as local Admin and Domain-User (who is also in local Admin group with all rights).
Furthermore CS2 is installed, Macromedia, Office products etc.
    Details:
    1. Can start installer, all screens are accessible, can make entries everywhere.
    2. Installation starts and progress bar appears.
    3. Installers runs to the end (without any problem), summary screen comes.
    4. Summary says that some products could not be installed.
    5. Installer installed the "smaller" apps, like Acrobat, Device Central, Bridge etc. BUT NOT Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
Side effect is that, as Acrobat and Distiller cannot be activated by itself, I cannot use them anymore and the CS3 installer does remove these two CS2 products. Well, working with Reader currently :-(
Also, the numerous uninstallations (45 min!) remove also PDF plug-ins and Flash plug-ins, so a terrible situation to be in.
What I have tried so far (and which hasn't worked):
    1. Ran CHKDSK over the hard disks, no issues.
    2. Installed from hard disk (instead DVD).
    3. Disabled all services and startups, as well as firewalls, virus scanners etc.
    4. Let the cs3clean script run (provided by Adobe, which resolves problems if you had CS3 beta installed, which I didn't), with level 1 and 2.
    5. Tried to install only specific applications (not all).
    6. Ran MSCLeanup app.
    7. Analyzed CS3 Install log for FAILED, Error Code 3 etc., no dramatic entries. Only thing that sometimes appears:
    - Error 1303, not enough privileges for CONFIG.MSI, which seems to be a known MS issue when the hard disk responds too late. Of course privileges for CONFIG.MSI are there, also tried reapplying them, deleting folder etc.
    8. Applied privileges new to all folders.
    9. Ran a registry cleaner
    10. Deinstalled Bridge 1.0
    11. Tried it in Safe Mode, not possible (Installer says cannot be run in sfae mode).
    More:
Adobe tech support also suggested to uninstall Bonjour, but I cannot find any entry and therefore have no idea how to uninstall. Add/Remove programs doesn't list it.
As the Installer runs about one hour, it is not only time-consuming, it also kills my productivity, as no Browser, Adobe or MS product can run when the installer is running.
Googled for error 1303 and CONFIG.MSI similar problems. Found numerous entries with CS3 installation issues, with some the CS3 Beta clean script helped, others had success with copying installation folder to hard disk, everybody something else (or no solution). And nothing that helped me.
As I know haven't heard from Adobe Tech Support for four working days, does anybody have any idea what else I could try?
    Thanks
    Matthias

There are log files that record the process of installation. If errors occur, they will be recorded in those log-files.
You should open up the log file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers. The file is called something like Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium 1.0.log.gz (depending on your install type).
Pay attention to the file extension: it should be .log.gz and not just .log
To open it you should have a program like Winzip or Winrar, because it's an archive file containing a text file.
Search in the text file for the error message. Search for "Error ".
In my case it was "Error 1401.Could not create key \Software\Classes\.svg\OpenWithList\Illustrator.exe. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
    Now follow these steps:
    1. Make sure you are logged in as an Administrator in Windows XP.
    2. On the Windows TaskBar, choose Start, Run, type "regedit" (without quotes), and click OK.
    3. Navigate to the following key that was of your error message (in my case it is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.svg\OpenWithList)
    4. Right-click "OpenWithList" and choose Permissions.
    5. Make sure your user name displays under "Group or user names."
NOTE: In the Windows XP Pro edition, the user name displays next to the word, Administrators.
In the Windows XP Home edition. the user name may display without the word, Administrator.
If you are not sure whether or not you are logged in as an Administrator, you can verify user rights in the Control Panel, User Accounts.
    6. Verify that "System" also displays under "Group and User Names."
If the System name is not there, add it as follows:
    7. In the Permissions for OpenWithList dialog box, click Add.
    8. Type "System" (without quotes) in "Enter the object names to select" and click OK.
    9. In "Permissions for System," make sure "Full control" and "Read" are set to "Allow."
    10. Click OK, exit the Registry, and proceed with the install.

  • CS3 Installation Problem, please help!

Hi there ive been trying to install Photoshop CS3 and having great difficulty, it will only install the shared components and nothing else, Ive gone through all the tutorials on the Adobe help pages and still not had any luck, I've tried looking through the log and the only thing I could come across is the following:
    [    5028] Sat Apr 11 00:41:19 2009 ERROR
Default installation language not valid, falling back to first supported language.
    [    5028] Sat Apr 11 00:41:19 2009 DEBUG
couldn't find any info on the error code or anything, ive uploaded my installation log here:
    http://www.2shared.com/file/5313464/86af2f33/Adobe_Photoshop_CS3_10.html
please help! I am using windows Vista but not sure if its 32 or 64

just tried that and still does not want to work, really just does not want to install for some reason!
I did try this and it wouldnt let me allow inhertible permissions to the admin on Solution 11 of this: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401401 this part here:
Select both "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object" and "Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions," on the Permissions tab.
Click OK in the "Advanced Security Settings" dialog box. Windows will now reset the permissions for each child object to correspond with its parent.
If you can't change permissions or rename that key, then contact Microsoft or your hardware vendor for assistance.
not sure if that has something to do with it?
appart from that i'm completly out of ideas, very frustrating as i have been trying for days to get this to install! any more suggestions are welcome

  • CS3 installer disappears

I'm still running CS3, and after calling Adobe support I was informed they don't have phone support for this product and the only suggestion by tghe rep I talked to was that I start a discussion in the forums to see if someone else can help.
My system crashed and I lost several of my programs. I've cleaned the computer up, and am trying to avoid doing a total windows reinstall. I got hit with a virus that took out some of my programs, including Photoshop.
My system meets the minimum qualifications, and it's been running CS3 absolutely fiune since 2008 when I installed it. It's only now that I'm trying to reinstall it that I'm having problems.
When I run the installer, in "initializes" then that disappears and nothing happens. I've been all over the forums trying to find solutions. I've uninstalled Flash, set IE as my default browser, disabled my virus program - same result. I went into msconfig and restarted with minimal services running - still no luck.
I tried the install disc in another computer to make sure it wasn't damaged - it starts the install process just fine on my laptop so the disc is not the problem.
I copied the install programs to my desktop and ran them from there.
I'm assuming something is causing a conflict. I've tried to read through the install log but I don't know what I'm looking for.
    Any suggestions?

Dennis: I think in the deep dark recessed of my mind I know that's where it's headed. I have a lot of programs I need to save setting files for, etc. if I'm reinstalling everything and I don't have the bandwidth for it this month. I was hoping I could get CS3 installed so I could get some projects out of the way that need to be finished and then do a system reinstall after.
I do have multiple hard drives, but I didn't have my programs segregated.  I was using a separate drive for the PS & Lightroom cache files. I'll likely make that change if I have to reinstall everything.
PE - I forgot to add that I can the cleanerscript also. Not sure how well it worked for a CS3 install, but it said it didn't find anything to remove.
If I can't get an answer that will let me install it I'll have to put my projects off and dive into reinstalling XP - not really what I wanted to do this week...
I read in one of the forums that someone found a way to use the CS4 installer to install CS3 - does that even make sense? I wasn't sure what they were talking about.

  • CS3 installation frustrations

    This is frustrating.
I have Vista home premium 64bit.
I've had my CS3 design premium installed on this computer before, so I'm not sure what is different other than I just sent it back to the manufacturer to have the HD replaced.
I've done the jscript and vbscript, ran the installer as admin, after a 2 hour installation process, the only thing that gets installed is Acrobat and the flash encoder, neither of which work properly.
The rest is all failed components.
I have about 30+ hours into this.
    Any other ideas?

I Just battled my CS3 installation on XP sp3 for weeks... but, alas,  there is hope!  I was logging on to call Adobe out on their HORRIBLE  installer.  Oh, if you contact them, they do not support CS3 anymore.   HA. They tell you that your PC may have a problem, or your disc... NOT  THE PROBLEM.  Okay, I guess I'll save the ranting for my own post (and a  little at the end), but hopefully my advice will be some help for you.
After trying almost every  suggestion I could find on here, some blessed soul offered this gem.   Install the products one by one... I know, and it will take 40-60 min  per product, and it will always "repair" shared components (which after a  while will be verify components), but everything installed for me  except the auxiliary content for After Effects (3rd Party did install).   It was sketchy at first, but then started with Version Cue, and  everything else fell in place.  If you do happen to fail when installing  a component, be sure to reinstall one that worked so the failure isn't  the last attempt.  Otherwise, at least for me, the products will not  work due to some licensing failure.
Ok,  so here's how you do it... Close the default window that pops up when  you insert disc 1.  . Then go to start, run, browse to the CS3 folder  from the root of your DVD drive, then choose Setup.exe.  It will go thru  the prompt for serial number the first time, but after that it will  allow you to choose which products to install without that prompt  again.  Click "deselect all" then choose one from the top pane.  It  worked, without copying all your files to the hard drive (HUGE waste of  time), and without trudging thru the installer logs...  For me this is  the only thing that worked.
My  original symptom was that the installer would hang or fail gracefully.  I  did not get any BSOD errors.  Just failure.  Oh yeah, they know about  the problem.  Doesn't matter that you spent 3K on their product  (which I  did download at time of purchase with DVD option) 3-4 years ago.  If  you want to re-install your product on the original PC, tough titty.   Buy the upgrade.  Oh, you want replacement discs?  Sorry... you must  upgrade.  AND ITS NOT THE DISCS YOU LIARS.  Even though you and I and  THOUSANDS OF OTHER HONEST PEOPLE bought their product with an  understanding that it would be usable 3 years later.  NOPE.  Not  supported.  Not their problem.  It’s your hardware or your DVD drive, or  else you must have scratched your discs. PFFF, what a huge load of  crap.
I'll leave you with  this.  Whoever is in charge of customer support at Adobe should be  fired. I pray an innovative competitor comes along and pushes them out  of the business.  I hear that HTML 5 is going to make Flash obsolete...  That's a start.  Screw Adobe and their third-world support approach and  their lack of regard for paying customers.  They're despicable

  • Solution for PS CS3 installation problem on Vista does not work.

I encountered the much discussed 2739 error when trying to install PS CS3 on Vista Ultimate. I followed the proposed solution. But instead of a dialog box I received the message: not recognized. I have the latest update of Java installed and I have IE as my default browser.
    What now? Return CS3?

I did and got a friendly guy who apparently had never heard of the 2739 error. I was hoping to get some support here. In another thread I read something about holding the installation window until installation starts. I can try it, but I doubt I am quick enough before the error window opens.

I am trying to find an old mac font.  It's the techno (apple) font that was available with OS 9.  How can I get this font?

I think that was Tecno. Techno appears to be a whole class of fonts.
    Is this the one? http://www.dafont.com/tecno.font
That's a .ttf version which should work OK with current OS.
As an aside, I was searching for Apple Textile for quite some time when it was pointed out to me that it was used by iDVD. Sure enough, opened up the installer package for iDVD with Pacifist and there it was. Now working fine on all my Macs!

  • Dead HD trying to find out about this mac

I am fixing a Macbook for a friend and his hard drive is dead. Almost all the numbers on the back of the computer are worn off. Is there a way to find out what the computer has in it by way of terminal commands possibly? I am trying to find out if I can buy him Mountain Lion and install it on a new hard drive.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
    Laura Drew

Once you've put in the new hard drive and formatted it for the Mac you'll want to put OS 10.6 Snow Leopard on it. The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Put your 10.6 install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot.  As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window.
Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. You should see your hard drive in the left hand column along with your other drives. Click on the drive and select the Erase tab. Set the format value to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Erase button. After that has finished select the Partition tab. Type in a Name for your hard drive and select how many partitions you want from the Volume Scheme. The usual setting is one partition. Click on the Options button after you've selected a partition to make sure it's set for GUID. Then click the Apply button and after the Partitioning is done quit Disk Utility.
You can now follow the instructions on the install screen
