Trying to find a hdmi to component converter

Home theater only has component inputs

I suggest you re-read the post as I made so such suggestion. I simply stated that it is the only Supported method, therefore you will have no guarantee with any converter you find. Even if it does work intitially you may encounter issues after updates (that is if you choose to update).
If you wish to proceed with a converter make sure there is a return policy.
I was also just giving notice that you also won't be able to play any protected content, such as the services menotioned above and similar. If you don't intend to view those then it is of no concern.

  • I'm looking for a good HDMI to component converter,

I decided to get a 2nd Apple TV for our basement room where we have an older TV with no HDMI input.  I bought a cheaper HDMI to component converter but whenI hooked it up to the TV, I just got some weird green images and after triple checking all the cables, and testing the new Apple TV on our main TV with HDMI, I decided that the converter was the problem.  Has anyone had any luck using a converter to get Apple TV to work with an older TV?
If so, please let me know what to look for.
    Thanks.

Potential issues for you with such a converter.
If the converter is HDCP compliant then you wont be able to watch content from the iTunes store or netflix.
If your TV isn't widesceen or doesn't accept 720p then you'll likely find your picture is squashed or doesn't fill the screen properly.

  • Can I make apple tv2 work on an HDTV with component connections using an HDMI to component converter?

I bought an apple tv2 and hooked it up through an HDMI to component converter then to my HDTV as it does not have an HDMI connection. When I turned it on, I got the start up screen x3. Three of the start up screen all across the display. Is there any way to make it work? Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I'd strat by restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds. It may however be the converter, compliant converters won't let you watch HDCP protected content and probably won't support scaling either.

  • Homemade movies with chapters question? I have numerous VHS movies converted to DVD and then are converting the DVDs into MP4 via HandBrake.  I am now trying to find the chapters within the converted DVDS with no luck using QuickTime 7.  Help plz.

How do I find the chapters within a Homemade DVD when it has been converted via Handbrake to MP4 and editing ready on Quicktime Player.  I want to get chapters only out of the movie that has 23 chapters so I can edit one chapter at a time. .  Found it once when it said divide into chapters (or something like this) , but can't find it again.  Thanks for the help.

How do I find the chapters within a Homemade DVD when it has been converted via Handbrake to MP4 and editing ready on Quicktime Player.
If you included the chapter information originally contained on the DVD as part of your HandBrake conversion, then it will be located in the "Text" track of your converted file. Did you actually check the "Chapters" tab in HandBrake before converting the DVD content to ensure the chapters were to be included in final export? I.e., not all HandBrake presets automatically include a "Text" (Chapter) track.

  • HDMI or Component to DVI or PC

I would like to connect an AppleTV to a Hitachi 26LD6200 TV. The Hitachi has
    DVI and PC connections.
I managed to find this quote " while the 26LD6200 has a digital DVI input,
it's not configured for HD. This is a bit of a shame, as the 1,280 x 720
resolution screen has ample pixels to show such footage. The only way to get
HD onto this screen is via its PC input."
If it is possible to connect with a HDMI or Component converter and get sound and vision,
how do I go about it.
    Jay

HDMI to DVI doesn't need a convertor, but as pointed out DVI doesn't carry audio and so you will need another cable, you will also need to ensure that the DVI and audio ports on the TV work off the same AV selection, unless you intend send audio through another audio device.

  • HDMI to Component

I have a pretty nice rear projection HD TV (Mitsubishi 1080i) but it only has component connections!!! I know I need a HDMI to Component converter but there are not many out there for sale and I was hoping someone with some experience can point me in the right direction!
    Thanks!

No sure which model Mitsubishi you have but my Mitsubishi model # WS65813 has a DVI connection that Im using. So it's HDMI from ATV to DVI to your TV for video and Optical audio out from ATV to Audio receiver for audio. Here's the cable you need for video (much cheaper than a converter).

  • Lightning Digital AV Adapter to Component converter

Would the Lightning Digital AV Adapter work with running it into a HDMI to Component converter like the ones below?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDTV-V1-3-HDMI-to-Component-YPbPr-R-L-Converter-1080P-Ad apter-/251773898393?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a9ee4ce99

Really stating to feel like the Lightning Digital AV Adapter was a complete waste of $50..
Anyways to get something like this to work?  Thanks

    Hello abnaji1984,
It sounds like you are able to see the video from your phone on your TV but cannot hear the audio from the phone on your TV. This is expected behaviour, and in the article that you used it shows that the iPod Touch only support video mirroring with the lightning AV adapter:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • Only green when connecting  thru an hdmi to component video converter

I get only green color display when connecting Apple TV 2nd gen thru an hdmi to component video converter and I tried resetting and all the video output options - any ideas???

Only HDMI is officially supported with the device. There will be no guarantee with a converter.

  • Trying to find epoch dates and convert them to dates

I'm trying to find every epoch time in a string and convert them to a date. I have tried the below with no luck.

    Hi,
I was not able to copy-and-paste your example due to unknown characters (which are displayed as squares on my Ubuntu laptop).
I modified them replacing those characters by spaces.
Maybe that won't totally fit your needs, or might behave differently on your system.
    Anyway, I propose the following :Scott@my11g SQL>l

  • I can't find the HDMI output version on my HP envy laptop. Is it 1.3 or 1.4.

I purchased a HP envy running windows 8.1.  I need to purchase a hdmi to rca component converter.  The one that I have found will not work for HDMI 1.4 but I can't seem to find anywhere in the literature for this HP device the HDMI version.

    Hi @rockinjb ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I would be happy to assist if needed as HP does make many different models, I would need the product number.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Please let me know.

  • I have an Retina display MacBook Pro with HMDI out port. I also have an HDMI to Component cable with Audio Plugs. How can I get HDMI out to work with this cable when plugged into the Component and Audio ports on my TV?

I have an Retina display MacBook Pro with HMDI out port. I also have an HDMI to Component cable with Audio Plugs. How can I get HDMI out to work with this cable when plugged into the MacBook Pro and connected to the TVs Component and Audio in ports.

Will not work.  To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported.  The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.

  • I have a Samsung HD TV and I purchased a Mini Display port to HDMI Adapter today. For some strange reason I get no display on my HD tv. I even tried switching a few HDMI cables and nothing popped up. I made sure my computer was updated. Help pls

I have a Samsung HD TV and I purchased a Mini Display port to HDMI Adapter today. For some strange reason I get no display on my HD tv. I even tried switching a few HDMI cables and nothing popped up. I made sure my computer performed all software updates, and I even tried calling Apple Support. They just told me to keep trying different hdmi cables and see if anything pops up. Does anybody know what the problem is? My HDMI cable is from "rocketfish" also my display port is too.

You may have the screen refresh rate set higher than the TV is generally able to track reliably. It may be able to get there most times, but occasionally loses sync because it is out of its nominal range.
I suggest you sit down with the manual for the TV and find out what resolutions at what refresh rates it intends to support through VGA, and make sure your screen settings are near (or below) those limits.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)
