Trying to find an app

I recently heard about an interesting app for phones. Basically, your smartphone(iPhone 5 in my case) scans and then reads a code(I'm not sure if it's a code or something similar). That code points to a website(or maybe just to some kind of text), and your phone decodes it and tells you which website is coded. Sorry for being so unspecific but I was told by a friend who really had a vague idea about this app and asked me if I knew something. So any ideas about such thing?

No way to do that on a non-jailbroken iPhone. Why don't you just passcode protect your phone? That way no one but you can use it...unless they know your passcode.

I've been using "Burn" for years and it has been the only DVD burning software I have ever used for the mac. I have never needed to look at other apps. Unless you want something that has more bells and whistles such as Roxio's "Toast" : http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/pro/overview.html
There are thousands of quality free apps out there for the mac that are not part of the App Store. All you have to do is read reviews online, do a little search, the Apple forums are full of recommendations from experienced users that have been here for years...

Did you download the "OS" version? How & where did you search? Use Sherlock or a 3rd party search software?
Check inside your Download folder as well as your Applications folder if you have not already done so.

Trying to find netflix app

I have been trying to reinstall the Netflix app onto my ipad but can not find it in the App Store. I have also tried to connect direct from the website but had no luck either. I had deleted the original app as the site was not working properly and it was suggested to reinstall it. Maybe a coincidence but I have just updated to the ISO 7. I do not have any restrictions enabled. Thanks

Not all apps are available in all country's stores, and it's up to the developer to make their app available to Apple to sell in a particular country (and sometimes a country's laws). You can try requesting that it be added to the Cypriot store : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Apps purchased from the itunes store CANNOT be used/played on your computer. They are for the ipod/ipad/iphone.
They would be under the Apps category in your library, but you can only use them on your ipod/iphone/ipad

Trying to find the app preference for Final Cut Pro 7

Normally if I had an issue in Snow Leopard, I could TRASH the FCPplist and re instate my preferences from the start.
Im having some home made issues due to poor file keeping, changed a few project files destinations and the like and now wanted to trash the
FINAL CUT PREF plist file but its NOT in the Preference file. WHat did Mavericks do with the preference files??? I noticed that Mavericks did away with
the usual System Library and User Library now only having ONE Library folder with preferences. I searched ProApps and did not find a FCPplist only a
RegFinalCut Plist is this the one I want????
ANy help appreciated!!
SHould I go back and buy Mountain Lion and revert my entire system back???

I'm trying to find Mail.app rules enhancements...

...that make the rules act more like the filters in Eudora. Except for this issue, I am so happy I switched, but Eudora has three functions that I wish I had in Mail.app:
1. Eudora filters are marked as old if they haven't been activated in a period of time (I think 30 days.) This way you can delete filters that aren't necessary and you can keep your filters list managable. Especially good for filters that I create to combat spam, which changes all the time and renders some of my filters obsolete.
2. Within Eudora filters you can can have more complicated boolean conditions... Mail.app only gives you the choice of "all" conditions in a rule or "any" (all "and" or all "or",) whereas Eudora let me use both "or" AND "and" to create a more precise filter. I constantly wish I had that.
3. In Eudora there's a hot key to automatically create a rule on the fly, as opposed to Mail.app which requires you to open up the preferences every single time.
Am I missing something? Please tell me if I can activate features like this through some special voodoo on the app, or if there are plug ins or enhancements that I can download... but this is becoming a real drag. I spend so much more time futzing with the rules in Mail.app, tweaking them to make them work right than I ever did with Eudora. I almost tempted (gasp) to go back...

I second John's mention of JunkMatcher for fighting spam - I use it and don't need any custom rules to weed out spam any more.
As for your third point - you might want to check out the Create Rule script available as part of Mail Scripts - it might prove a little easier way to set up a new rule based on the currently selected Mail (and you will be able to invoke it from the script menu):

Does anyone know if there is an app that hides your apps. Or better yet with the new upgrade you can combine apps into one folder... is there a way to lock the folder?

Why do you need to hide these apps? If it is due to the iPod being shared with someone who these apps are age inappropriate for, try using parental controls. They can be found in your settings: General>Restrictions.

Never heard of Orbit. As far as I know RealPlayer streams but doesn't download video (and audio). So are you looking for another streaming app or one that actually downloads the video file? And what kind of video? For example, you can download flash video from sites like youtube with many flash video downloads. There are many youtube flash downloaders. Just search macupdate.com for them. FWIW, a somewhat more general flash downloader is Jaksta. Use the macupdate link I provide to Jaksta and look at near the bottom of the page for related apps.
