Trying to Find the Right Phone for Me
Hello,
I'm thinking of switching to a BlackBerry, and could use a bit of help finding the right phone for me. I've browsed through them, but so far haven't been able to find what I'm looking for (and I'm not able to find out which phones have UMA or not in the compare section).
Provider isn't important, as I'm fine changing my service.
I'm looking for a phone that is:
* Both WiFi and UMA compatible
* GPS compatible
* Preferably with a Camera
Thanks for the help!

Trying to Find the right KVM For my 3 Sunfire v250's
Hello All,
I currently have 3 SunFire v250 systems running Solaris 9/04. I tried using a Belkin PRO2 series KVM with USB ports. When rebooting the systems, I would get USB Timeout Errors, and some if not most of the time the system would not come up. I would need to go into the ALOM to reset each system usually several times before they would actually come up. The documentation for the KVM suggests booting the System up with the KB/Mouse/Monitor directly connected, and once the system is up then adding the KVM in the mix. This works, however when I reboot the system I am back to square one.
I am looking for suggestions for a KVM switch (if there is one) that will work well with SunFire v250's. Also, I am using xvr-100 graphics cards in each system.
Thank you in advance,
-ChrisHello Chris,
in the past there have been numerous posts on this topic (search for KVM).
Unfortunately there is no easy answer, except that most people would recommend to use a terminal server/console server instead.
Is your KVM listed on the following site or does Belkin recommend this KVM for Sun <b>SPARC</b> systems ?

I accidentally clicked add to dictionary on a misspelled word when I was trying to click the right spelling for it. How can I undo that so it will catch the misspelled word?
You need to edit a file in your profile folder, for details see [[using the spell checker]].

I did not find the right place for my question but Is Apple's products are shipped to the Gulf States by Aramex ?
An absolute URL will be a complete URL, it traces from the abosulte root of a file's location on a server...
http://www.thesite.com/assets/images/Front_Page_Rotating_Banner/banners.xml
A relative URL is anything short of including the http://domain..., and is read relative to wherever the file using it exists
assets/images/Front_Page_Rotating_Banner/banners.xml
In Flash files though, relative links need to be specified relative to the HTML page that embeds the swf. So if the swf is in a different folder than the html page that embeds it, the swf's targeting must be adjusted as if it were actually in the html file's folder. -

Deleting the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults.
You can rename ''localstore.rdf'' to '''localstore.rdf.sav''' to test if that solves it.
Then you can restore the customization by copying ''localstore.rdf.sav'' to ''localstore.rdf'' if it didn't work.

I am trying to find the tap size for the A1342 m4.3 Case Cover screws
I seem to be having a hard time finding out what the thread size is for the 922-9903 screws used in the A1342 Macbook. I know it list's them as 4.3mm but I would like a bottoming tap to chase the back threads. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks too all for your input. BP
Sounds as though you need to contact an actual service technician or other person with technical knowledge of the product; so maybe someone with that background may be able to get back to you on this...
Or you could try email or phone to a company that does that for a living to see how good their customer service and public relations are. Short of the call center at Apple Support, where you may get an answer, or not. http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
I'd check a smaller venue and ask if someone there can help.
From Alaska, I've called a few and emailed others on occasion.
A few are superior, some are good, a few never replied at all.
{So you'd get an idea, where I'd consider doing business later.}
If no one replies here, instead you could try the above concept to see if a trades specialist at a business that does this for a living can give you an answer. Here's a place I've talked to http://wegenermedia.com/
There is this little place in South Carolina that does fix things, and may be looking into a processor overheat sensor issue in my early macbook 13" 1.83GHz coreduo, & also replace a switch or cable to a flickering backlit display. I figure the thermo-couple to heatsink needs a cleanup and arctic paste applied, while its there for the display issue.
Hopefully this helps, since these kind of questions seldom get a rise here.
A bit too technical, if you don't catch the right person who may be visiting.
And I've had to repair mechanical film cameras with tiny tap/die sets before.
But not in the 200+ Macs I've owned, repaired, upgraded, donated. Yet.
Good luck & happy computing! -
Where can I find the right doc for SunStudio For Linux ?
I can find the docs for SunStudio here, http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5265/6n7c29ck9?a=view
but it seems that it doesn't right on linux platform.

The above are not predefined in -Xc mode.
These predefinitions are valid in all modes:

I'M TRYING TO FIND A APP FOR MY IPAD THAT YOU CAN TYPE A LETTER OR PRESENTATION THEN CLICK PRINT AND IT WILL GO TO A WIRELESS PRINTER!!!!!!
There are a large number of word processing programs available. A simple app store search in the productivity section will bring up a wide range, from Docs2Go to Pages and many in between. There are also simple text editors, such as Elements and others which are cheaper, but not as full featured.
For printing, you need an HP printer that supports AirPrint. No special app on the iPad will allow you to print to any printer, just to those that are AirPrint enabled.
Being on a PC, I don't know of any other printing options. If you have a Mac available, you can install Printopia, and print wirelessly to any printer your Mac can print to. -
Received the standard email this morning stating I can downgrade to purchase within 15days. Unfortunately I cannot find anywhere to contact apple regarding this. Using iCloud support only allows express method for which I would be charged?
Thank youRan into the same scam today trying to cancel the bogus $40 iCloud upgrade.
Call Apple Support vs. the pay Apple $50 to get them stop charging you $40. Tell them you want to cancel the iCloud charges. It took me five calls and finally one of the reps put on her surpervisor who looked up the account and removed the autopay and "upgrade". They would not refund the money from the "free signup" scam, only cancel it going forward. Even that is problematic since on the iPhone under Settings/iCloud/Account/Storage Plan it still shows $40 a year being charged and it will not let you change the plan. -
Trying to find the best format for an external hard drive
I have a new iMac 20", and I am now converting an external hard drive I had on another computer to be compatible with this one. The ext. HD was formatted as NTFS, and I would like to make it much more easily read/write. I've tried using various tools to enable write support on the drive, but I'm giving up on that, instead opting that I just format the drive to something else.
Disk Utility doesn't really offer me a comprehensive comparison of UFS and Mac OS Extended (Journaled), or any of the OS Extended derivatives.
Since Everything is either:
a) Mac OS Extended
b) MS-DOS or
c) Unix File System
What are the differences between a) and c) and why would I choose UFS over the others? For the time being, I just want to set up the drive as a backup, but I may use it for more than that, since it has a Firewire connection to it, enabling much better performance than USB.
Thanks in advance,
NickFile system formats and partition map schemes are two different things.
OS X requires the Mac OS Extended (HFS+) file system formatting scheme. Details on file format schemes are in http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Performance/Conceptual/FileSystem/Artic les/MacOSXAndFiles.html
ICBMs (Intel-chip-based Macs) require the GUID Partition Table scheme. Details on partition mapping schemes are in http://developer.apple.com/documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/universalbinary/universal_binary_tips/chapter_5_section10.html and further information on GUID is in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GUIDPartitionTable.
Erasing. When you erase a volume, you delete the volume's file directory (when you erase a disk, you also destroy its partitions and directories); and, when you zero out the data, you write 0s and 1s to the disk and map out bad blocks.
So, I suggest using Disk Utility and erasing, zeroing out data, Mac OS X Extended, and the GUID partition scheme. -
Finding the right resolution for MBP to projector
Hi there,
I have a lecturer who uses a MBP 15" to project powerpoint slides and him using circuit modelling software.
What I've noticed is the whole setup is quite cumbersome:
eg:
The projected image is not wide screen like the MBP (i am guessing the projector is at 1024x768)
This means when he runs a simulation for eg. the output pops up in it's own window, and usually off the visible screen on the projector.
needless to say, he spends alot of time awkwardly resizing windows and shifting them around just to illustrate a basic point.
My question is, if I help him resize the resolution so his MBP matches the projector, will the MBP switch back to native when he unplugs it? Will the MBP remember the projector settings next time, and resize automatically when he plugs it in, or will he have to fiddle with resolutions everytime he plugs it in? ( if so, shame on you apple!)
If so, does anyone know of a utility out there that would make this process easier? ie Detect that the projector is connected/disconnected and change the resolution accordingly.
Thanks for your help - it's difficult watching him fiddle as the proj screen is behind him and he has to turn around to see what's acutally visible to the class! It should be easier than that - it's an Apple!
Mac Book Pro Mac OS X (10.4)Hi
I have the same issue - when I'm presenting, most of the time I use the customer's projector, so I have no idea what resolution it will be. My MBP 17" widescreen generally offers me different resolutions after the autodetect, but they're either larger than the projector display, or half the slides are missing on the right hand side.
Is there a way to choose other resolutions?

Trying to find the serial number for my InDesign
Greetings all,
I work in the art department of a printing company that has 11 artist on Macs using Adobe software. I'm currently reformatting some of the Macs we use to clear off old software. My problem is that I need to reinstall the same InDesign back onto the respective Mac, I have 11 copies of InDesign, and I'm not sure which one is on a particular Mac. As you can probably infer the organization of our software up to this point is not exactly well thought out.
So, long story short, how do I locate the serial number for InDesign on the Mac? I know it used to show you a partial serial number in the opening splash page, and in Illustrator you can find it in the system info panel under the help menu. But, I just can't find it in InDesign.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.[email protected] wrote:
> I don't know what version of ID you're using. In CS2 you can get the first 10 digits of the serial number from the About InDesign under the InDesign menu column.

It's the first 20...
He's probably using CS3 which doesn't have an easy way to find out. -
I am trying to find the serial number for Adobe CS2 within the program?
I want to locate the serial number for adobe CS 2 within illustrator or photoshop.

I have a 10.5.8 os and need the simplified Chinese languag pack which I have not been able to download. It says I need an update installer which I cannot find as well/ or one that will work. Any suggestions?
Are you sure it is not already there? In system preferences/international/language, don't you see simplified Chinese on the list? It is supposed to be there. You just move it to the top and restart to put the OS into that language.
Missing language packs can also normally be installed by running the Language Translations installers found in the OptionalInstalls.mpkg of the Leopard DVD.
