Trying to get ATT Uverse Service

I live in a small neighborhood on a private street with only 13 homes.  The road that our road branches off from has Uverse service and the homes to either side of our neighborhood entrance currently have Uverse.  For some reason our street does not show up in the ATT system so the service representatives are unable to enter a ticket for adding service.  Half of the people in my neighborhood and I have been attempting to get to the appropriate person to have our street added to the system so that we can get Uverse for the past 3 years but have yet to make any headway.  Is there anyone here who can help get me to the right person or department?

Came in here thinking this post was mine for a second... Same situation here, let me tell you what I've learned: My situation: I live in a neighborhood of 24 homes where no broadband is offered. The neighborhood to my north will have 96 homes in the future, but is currently under construction and over the past 18 months have managed to build only 1 home (and it has not sold). However, each and every address in that neighborhood shows U-Verse available. Yes, not a soul lives there. So, I went through this forum thing once, got nowhere. Then I made a map of U-Verse availability within 5 miles of my home. That helped me map out the fiber lines, and from there I was able to locate all the VRADs near me. Just a little refresher on how U-Verse works: Big fiber lines are like water mains and they run from ATT's central hubs to boxes called VRADs. VRADs are basically neighborhood distribution hubs. There are two ways you can connect to a VRAD: fiber (FTTH, fiber to the home) or DSL (FTTN, fiber to the node which means copper telephone lines leading away from the VRAD). FTTH is preferred because it is faster and can travel longer distances, but it is also much more expensive to install. I located the VRAD closest to me, which to my surprise was something I had always assumed was an electrical box just 150 feet from my home. The big fiber to that VRAD goes right over the telephone poles in my yard. However, my VRAD only contains the "guts" (not that I'm saying I broke in and looked inside the thing, but take my word for it) necessary to provide FTTH, which might seem good but here's the problem: ATT installed FTTH fiber (small fiber) underground when the new neighborhood was being built, probably with money from the developer. They neglected my neighborhood because some bean counter decided it wasn't worth the investment. So, ATT's VRAD near me won't work with the existing telephone copper lines (DSL), and they won't install small fiber underground (too expensive) nor over the telephone lines (that's just for big fiber). So that's why I'm stuck with no internet at home, and that's probably why you are too. Maybe the details are different, but the story is the same: ATT is a big company, they only deploy internet service when the cost/benefit ratio is very hight, and their technology is a little backwards when it comes to compatibility. Now, there is a silver lining POSSIBLE in the future. ATT's new "Gigapower" offering does away with VRADs and instead connects the big fiber directly to homes via splices rather than a central hub. However, in my case the fiber is already in place for the new neighborhood near me and I doubt they'll install new fiber just to serve my neighborhood. And don't expect them to tell you what their plan is, because it's a "company secret" and God Forbid they let Time Warner know they plan to service this neighborhood or that one in the next few years. Wow, that was a long rant... Sorry. It's cathartic for me to vent once in a while. I'll keep posting this stuff here, and all over the internet, until I have a connection that will let me do something more entertaining than complain about ATT's greedy bean counters.

What router can I buy to be compatible with my ATT Uverse service?I would like a fairly fast moderately priced one. My current router does not work and I prefer to own the router than rent from them.

You may purchase any router you desire, preferably a dual band, and place behind the Uverse RG in either DMZ mode for pace/2 wire products or IP Pass through for Arris/Motorola products. However you must have a Uverse RG for actual connection due to certificate authorized service.Resulting in the need for the company owned/maintained equipment fee, currently $7 per month, for new installations and repairs of existing accounts requiring the RG replacement.

  • I cannot get ATT to cancel my old Dial-Up service.

Very frustrated here.... I have held on to my old att account after moving to an area which is not covered by ATT and was given an ATT Dial Up service to keep my old email accounts. I do not need it and have called to cancel in March and was told it was done. In April I recieved another bill so I called and was told it was canceled for sure this time, I even recieved a confirmation number. Today I recieved another bill with 2 months now past due. What gives with the incompetence in this department? I already tried to call again but they are only open on week days so looks like 2 more days of pinned in frustration. I will be filing a complaint with the FCC this week as many years ago I was only able to resolve an issue with Sprint after lodging a complaint in this manner. In that case I tried to cancel my Cell plan with Sprint on the last day of the 2 year plan and they told me to call back the next day otherwise I had to pay an early termination fee, the next day I called to cancel and they said I already started a new month of service so I had to pay for the whole month. It was an outrageous Catch 22 and the FCC made them remove the charge. I hope they are able to help me here as well....

I too am trying to cancel ATT Internet services - spent 3 hours getting transferred, dropped, ignored, etc. I must have signed up for dial-up many years ago to keep my att.net email. I am charged monthly via the credit card, so I don't get paper bills. I can no longer log into see any bills, so I don't know the account number.  And it must be a different address than my current one, since they cannot find me by address or phone number.  And the 8667223425 number is not helpful for people in New Jersey apparently. So nobody can look up my last name, find my account and cancel???? Literally spoke to 9 ATT reps over 3 hours. A couple tried to help, but eventually I got to people that transferred me to a line that either hung up or went to att wireless.

  • Does apple tv work with att uverse

Does apple tv work well with att uverse service?

    Doubtful.
What allows for streaming content from an iPad to a television thru an Apple TV is Apple software included with iOS on the iPad and the Apple TV software. Unless there is a 3rd party android app that provides for this, no.

  • WHY CAN I NOT GET DSL OR UVERSE SERVICE AT MY HOME.

I would like to know why i cannot get either internet service at my home.  its a new home i understand.  but you have a UVERSE fiber cable running under my front yard.  you have DSL wiring under my front yard.  i have  a box in my front yard.  and yet you dont want to turn on the service for me.  i have had ATT at numerous homes in the past and the service and customer service have always been exemplary, however this time no one will give me an answer other than its not available.  to me not available means we dont have the infrastructure to support it.  that is not the case is i know the lines are in place and others in the area have your service.  if i had other options i would not be so frustrated, however i refuse to install an ugly satelite dish on my new home so that leaves me no where to go.  i would like a supervisor or engineer to call me and let me know a specific reason i cannot have the service that is in my front yard.

  • Can't connect to the internet in my home yet other devices can. I tried it in other Wifi places and it connects without a problem. My home Wifi is with Att uverse

Can't connect to the internet in my home yet other devices can. I tried it in other wifi places and it connects without a problem. My home wifi is with ATT Uverse. I cheched the IP address on my laptop and its different than on my Ipod although it on the same network.

Move off WEP to WPA or, preferably, to WPA2 (as recommended by Apple). WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi Alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be cracked in seconds by any hacker).
Note that each device on a network has a unique IP address but if your address starts with 169 then you did not get a valid IP address assigned to you by your router. If restarting the router did not cure the problem then you should check for a firmware update for your router.

  • How can get ATT Dial Up internet service?

I currently have ATT Uverse for phone and internet, however, the cost will almost double after the promotion ends.  I am on a fixed income and I don't want to change my phone landline number of more than 30 years.  With this new technology, I now find it necessary to have internet which I don't use very much.  Why don't ATT have a senior discount program that will meet our basic needs. Can anyone give me some answers.  I am told by ATT that DSL is not available, however, Direct TV is still in my area but I must get TV to get the phone and internet.

    Hello
What plans do you currently subscribe to and how much do you pay? If you're not already, I would suggest downgrading your U-verse phone service to voice 200.
The current lowest rate for internet + phone is for 6 Mbps(or any lower tier) and voice 200 which comes out to be $34.95 a month on a promotion, plus a $7 gateway rental = $41.95. Once your promotion is nearing it's end, you should try to get in touch with the AT&T retention department and explain your situation. They are usually willing to provide another promotion if you agree to a 1 year contract. Once you upgrade to U-verse service, you cannot get AT&T DSL/POTS.

  • Trying to install the latest iTunes on my Gateway w/ Windows XP.  I keep getting the message "Service 'Bonjour Service' (Bonjour Service) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

Hi, I'm trying to re-install the latest iTunes on my Gateway w/ Windows XP.  I had to update it a while back to put songs on my brother's iPod, but my computer froze halfway through and nothing has worked right since.
I keep getting the message "Service 'Bonjour Service' (Bonjour Service) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
I looked through older discussions that told me to go to right click My Computer - Manage - Services and Applications - Services - Find Bonjour and restart it.
Well, the only option that I can click on is Start.  When I do, it says "Windows could not restart the Bonjour Service service on Local Computer.  Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
Where do I go from here?  Help would be greatly appreciated, I've been trying to fix this for over a year now with no dice.  Also, I cannot do a factory reset (last effort) because it says the administor's account is disabled and I do not have the disc.

Sorry if double posting is a no-no here, but I forgot to add that I've already tried disabling Spyware Doctor.
