Trying to get more RAM.

My DV8310CA came with 1GB of RAM, but I want to max it to 2GB. Can you please tell me what module in the Kingston make I can get for my laptop?

You may have 2 x512mb modules installed, so you would need to order 2 x1gb modules to upgrade to 2gb.

Get more Ram or new computer?

I have an iMac G5 with 1 GB (I think) of RAM. I run programs like InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and find myself watching the spinning rainbow more than I am getting any work done. Would getting more RAM help my computer run faster or do I have to resort to getting a new computer? Any help provided would be greatly appreciated!

You have not maxed out your memory. Since you did not indicate which model iMac you have, see the following:
Rev A models - 2GB
Rev B (Ambient Light) - 2GB
Rev C (iSight) - 2.5GB

As Miriam already stated, make sure that the RAM you purchase has a lifetime warranty.

How do i get more RAM in my iMac G4 800?

I'd like to expand the RAM on my iMac G4 800. I read a few discussions and am not quite sure what I can do. Here is what I have and what I want to do:
Have: I have a iMac G4 800 with 512 in the J22 slot and 256 in the J20 slot. I am assuming the J20 slot is the one I can make changes to. Is that right?
Want: I'd like to add a 1 GB DRAM and make my memory 1.5 GB. I realize there is some debate about whether this machine can handle over 1 GB of main memory. So, can I do that?

I'm afraid there is no debate: 1GB is the maximum on the 800MHz iMac.
Personally I don't believe that going from 768MB to 1GB is cost effective on this older Mac given that you will have to throw out a 256MB module.
On my iMac G4 J20 is the internal "Factory" slot which is difficult to access; this notation may be different on the 800MHz model.
Some tips to improve performance:
Quit Safari often; it suffers serious memory leaks that Apple doesn't seem in a hurry to fix and will gobble up your RAM.
Keep your hard disk nice and empty. Once you fill your hard disk above the 85% level you'll start to get fragmentation and the available space for virtual memory is not there.
Use a system maintenance application like MacJanitor (link).
Quit applications when you're not using them.
Have a look in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor. How much Free and Inactive RAM do you have? If the processor regularly being tasked to 100%? How many Page Outs do you have?

[SOLVED] Trying to allocate more ram to /dev/shm

I want to allocate more than 50% ram to '/dev/shm'.
In the wiki it says to edit '/etc/fstab' and add the size parameter but I know that '/etc/fstab' no longer mounts '/dev/shm', '/etc/rc.sysinit' does.
Is it safe to add the '/dev/shm' entry in to '/etc/fstab or should I edit '/etc/rc.sysinit' now?

You should add an entry to /etc/fstab.
rc.sysinit (or systemd) will indeed mount /dev/shm with standard options in early boot, but then rc.sysinit (or systemd) will call /usr/lib/systemd/systemd-remount-fs, which will remount all the api filesystems (such as /dev/shm) that have entries in fstab, with the correct options specified there.

Still trying to get more space on my hard drive, how to move final cut?

Is it possible to just move final cut pro, all the videos and everything inside, to my external hard drive? My macbook pro 2012 hard drive is getting full and I think its because of all the HD video clips... I am trying to store them on my external, but not sure of the best way. Move all the events or just move the application as a whole?

It depends whether you imported with Copy Files to Final Cut Events Folder in your Import Preferences. If you did then moving the contents of Events and Projects should do the trick. One way you can check is simply move a project/event out of the Movies folder and relaunch with your external drive.
If the projects load without any issues or offline media then you can safely delete the copy on your system drive. And yes you'd need to have the external drive attached to use any Events or Projects stored there. FCPX will still launch if the drive isn't attached- it will just not load those contents. Projects and Events will default back to the system drive.

HT4847 i deleted some photos from my camera roll on ipad by mistake trying to get more icloud storage. can i get them back?

I was trying to free up icloud storage in order to back up my iphone 5 using my ipad. I mistakenly deleted some photos from my camera roll and they were deleted from both iphone and ipad photo albums. Can I retrieve them somehow or are they gone forever? Now I read that doesn't help to free up space...not sure what does free up space so I can back up my phone again. Help!

Ever since i upgraded to Mountain Lion I experience occasional problems: 1) trouble restarting and 2) Browser freezing. Someone suggested getting more RAM. Would that help solve my problems?

iMacs are particular about their RAM - I stick with the two most recommended here: OWC (macsales.com) or Crucial. Both have fair pricing and lifetime warranty.

I wanted to get more RAM, but I want to be able to upgrade it later, can I install two different RAM cards?

I currently have 4GB in my Macbook Pro. I'm realizing that this isn't sufficient. I like to edit photos and have Photoshop, Lightroom, and a web browser open at the same time. I'm pretty sure that maybe 10GB of RAM will do (I'd buy one 8GB card and keep one of the 2GB cards already installed), so in case I would need to upgrade again I could buy another 8GB card. Is it possible to have two different sizes of RAM in the two bays?

Yes, you can have two different RAM sizes in the slots. Apple doesn't recommend that, but it works. If anything make sure the RAM is the same brand. You'll need the standard 1333MHz DDR3 memory. See HERE for info on installing the memory yourself.

Can I get more than one account on iphone microsoft exchange server

I was trying to get more than one account on iphone microsoft exchange server for mail, but it seems to only accept one. Is this true with everyone else out there. I guess I am one of the few people with more than one email account that uses microsoft exchange. I would love to have the convience of accessing them through iphone mail but it seems that I will be forced to use safari for the other two by typing owa... in the url.

Yu can only have one Exchange Server account per device. This is true to iPhone and any Windows mobile device in the market. The work around is to set your other accounts that reside on an Exchange server using IMAP or POP settings as you used to do before the Version 2 update allowed you to sync directly to the Exchange Server. This methode will allow you to add as many accounts as you want or have.

In our solution manager, we are trying to get more customer information from sap.
In report AI_SC_GET_SAP_CUSTOMER_NUMBERS that call function BCSN_Z001_GET_VARS_DEBITS in remote RFC SAP-OSS to get all customer numbers.
i see that this function fill the table l_debits that have more information than the customer as well as name, phone, country, etc..
but we only can get the customer numbers.
is there any possibility to get more information as name, address, contact person, etc.. from Sap to solution manager synchronization process to get all customers data up-to-date ? thought this report or another one ?

Spry insert master/detail layout Can't get more than two columns?

More RAM for my MacPro

Hi,
Is it possible to get more RAM than 8 Gigs on a Single Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro?
I bought mine fully loaded about 4 months ago but I see now that you can go up to 16 Gigs on the brand new MacPro, as being advertized recently on the Apple Store Web Page.
If so, do I have to change the Logic Board or add/by another card of somme nature? Is there any third party resellers who does it?

Benefit of more RAM

My current desktop system (Quad Phenom II 3,4GHz, / on SSD, /home on HDD) is equipped with 8 GB RAM and no swap. I'm thinking about upgrading to 16GB of RAM. Reason is mainly some memory hungry CFD post-processing software I want to run. I wonder how the rest of the system would benefit from this upgrade? Will the system benefit from the larger disk caches etc. or will be there no effect at all? (KDE is my desktop environment)

When you're not using your memory heavy software you're not getting anywhere near 8 GB (cache included), and when you're actually using it I doubt that you give a damn about cache. Theoretically what you described is correct, but since you already have 8 GB's, then I doubt increasing it any further would have any real effect. It would be much more noticeable if you had say 2 GB's and were considering upgrading to 4 GB, even if you weren't regurarly using all of your 2 GB. So my advice would be to get more RAM only if you actually need it, i.e. if you're regurarly running out while using your CFD software.

Why SSD, you're thinking about heavy swapping? While they're fast, SSD transfer rates still can't be compared to DDR3 speed. Moreover, while I consider the panic around poor SSD longevity (limited write cycles in particular) largely exaggerated, it is still based on truth, and a lot of swapping is one thing you want to avoid.
edit: meh scratch that, I misread your post. Swap is not what you meant, but still might be a thing to consider.
