Trying to get my music library back!

I just bought a new laptop, and never had to re-establish my itunes on another computer.  unfortunately my old one crashed, and i do not know if i had all of my music backed up prior to that on my external hardrive.  when i downloaded itunes, i had hoped that my music would just come right back up as i thought it was saved with my account as well as on the computer.  i have a feeling that i am wrong and just lost all of the music i've spent lots of money on over the last few years.  a horrible lesson to learn.  can anyone confirm this?  i will go on a hunt through my external hardrive, but i think i only had my music backed up on the laptop that crashed.
i do not want to try to resync my device right now for fear that the songs on my phone are the only copy that i have.  is there a way to at least get the artists i have on my phone (downloaded from my old laptop)  back onto my computer and saved into my itunes account? i'm not very tech saavy so any help is greatly appreciated!  i definitely don't want to end up erasing all the songs on my phone...

i think i figured it out, i found in itunes how to download previous purchases.  so they were saved!!! thank goodness.

I am trying to sync my music library to my new iPhone 5C and cannot seem to get the music to sync.  It is in the library but isn't going over to my phone.
I must be doing something wrong during the sync (something checked when it should not bet, etc)  Need some help.  Thanks!!

Manually manage music is NOT checked.  I backed up all my phone information from my old 3GS phone to my computer, then connected my new phone to sync.  Everything else seems ok but music won't transfer.  It is set to automatically sync when connected.

My computer crashed and I downloaded Itunes on a new computer and I'm trying to get new music and it says my Ipod is synced with another itunes library {my dead computer} and I can either erase and sync or transfer itunes purchases. Is there any way possible I dont have to erase my music? So frustrating.

Yes. I have no personal experience with this, but it is possible to recover your music from an iPod. See this link: http://guides.macrumors.com/Recovering_Songs_from_an_iPod

  • A virus wiped out everything on my laptop. Is there any way to get my iTunes music library back?  I never backed it up. Thanks

A virus wiped out everything on my laptop. I am wondering if there is any way to get my iTunes library back? I didn't back it up with anything.  My kids have iPods and between them all, not everything is on them.  Or, am I stuck with what is on the iPods?  Thanks for any info you can give me.

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content (note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time). You can also do this from an iOS device.
    For more information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
You'll need to repeat the process for each iTunes Store account through which you purchased anything.
Once you get things back, I highly recommend that you make a backup and keep it current. Content can be removed from the iTunes Store at any time with no warning, which would render it unavailable for redownloading.
    Regards.

  • Lost ITunes on my laptop how do I get my old library back?

    Hi
My laptop hard drive recently died, so had to get a new one installed.
I've downloaded and installed Itunes 10 however when trying to synch its giving me the message The ipod is synched with another i tunes libraty.  Do you want to erase this ipod and synch with this itunes library?
I cant get my original library off of the old disk as its completely dead, so how do I get the tunes that are on my ipod to synch into the new itunes library as I've not got access to all the CD's now?
    Thanks
    Fiona

The bad news is, since your old hard drive is dead, you cannot get your itunes library back using itunes. It just isn't designed to do it.
The good news is, you can buy a 3rd-party ipod manager that can get stuff off your ipod, even things  you didn't get from the itunes store. These other programs can also get your playlists and CDs you ripped off the ipod.
Here is an article that is a few years old, but it's a good place to start your research:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/P2/
You can always get itunes purchases off your ipod using these directions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US
Going forward, consider backing up your hard drive. You probably lost a lot of other stuff besides just itunes!

  • I have a new computer, downloaded itunes, how do I get my old library back?

I have a new computer, downloaded itunes.  How do I get my old library back so I can sync w/ipod nano?

Do you still have the old PC around? If so, you might be able to still copy the iTunes library from that PC over to the one.
Or is the music still on your Nano?  If so, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your new PC and into iTunes.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022?start=0&tstart=0
Otherwise, you can redownload most iTunes purchases again at no cost using iCloud.  If the music and content was imported from outside of iTunes you'll need to either re-rip the tracks into iTunes or redownload them using whatever utility or store you originally purchased them from.

Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in.
It also could be due to an Apple server problem. and yu will just have to wait and try again.

  • I am trying to change my music library

Basically, i've been trying to 'update' my music library, and I somehow have some old music from my ipod on my iphone library. As far as I know I haven't synced these together because I don't like the music... Now, I want to delete these 70 unwanted songs but it won't let me. I really do not want to have to delete my entire play list and re-upload the songs I want because time is of the essence and that is simply to much fiddling. I can't even delete them off my laptop because they simply do not exist on it, I have tried and tried all sorts of different syncing methods and everything and it just doesn't seem to work!! It's really stressing me out, who knew something so simple to us is so awkward!!
    Thank-you x

my internet connection is incredibly slow - I know it is not the fault of the modem as other devices are fast. This article was suggested to me as a solution. I think they were just trying to get me off their back. Anyone else experience this?

If Safari is getting very slow:
(Presumably you regularly empty your Safari cache by deleting the following file:
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/cache.db
    and clear your History)
Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here:   http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network:please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/best_practices/#your_network and follow the advice given.
If you use a Router, make sure it has the latest firmware installed.
One reason for a slowness in page loading may be the 'DNS Pre-fetching' feature of Safari 5.x as is described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408?viewlocale=en_US
You can cancel DNS pre-fetching by going to Terminal and typing:
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false
You have to restart Safari for it to take effect.
If Safari seems to hang for ages:
If you have a lot of tabs open and/or a lot of pages running Flash, Safari can sometimes 'hang', requiring a restart of Safari. This can often be inconvenient, and as it is rarely Safari itself that is hanging but merely one of its plug-ins, usually Flash, there is a way using Terminal to restart the plug-ins (without restarting Safari and losing your tabs) by quitting the WebPluginHost process:
Open the Terminal from the Utilities folder in /Applications and type
    killall -9 WebKitPluginHost
Note that this command kills all Safari plug-ins, not just Flash. All plug-ins should start back up when you reload the page.
Then go back to Safari and refresh any pages that were using the Flash plug-in. This also fixes the Beachball of Death. Try this whenever Safari gets slow or freezes. The later versions of Flash 10.1 onwards appear to have improved the situation somewhat, but haven't completed eliminated it.
