Trying to get new installation of TB to find backup profile file
On Sat morning startup of PC, Thunderbird acted as if it was a new install, no folders, abook, etc. Firefox showed no bookmarks, etc. Also, Win 7 would not find my desktop on boot. I've done a complete restore with Carbonite overnight. No real change, except at least now I could d/l new Thunderbird and Firefox; yesterday could not. I realize win 7 desktop problems aren't yours to solve; just trying to relate situation.
I finally found my backup TB profile, with abook.mab and other files, which look like everything is
there in a file, ********.default. I'm trying to be VERY careful about the best way to get the new
TB to find my backup default file so I don't loose it all. I've read the profile move, restore, change,
etc. methods on your site; I just want to do it right the first time.
Any help appreciated.

I've used profile manager to the point where I've created a folder, named
it and when it asks to choose folder, I can't find file I copied to my docu-
ment folder. In one of my several tries, I have been able to reconnect with
my email server and get email and I could send myself a test message,
but I can't seem to tie Thunderbird and the profile folder together and
I have tried many times to do this, so I can retrieve all my old folders and
address book, etc. Can you tell what I'm doing wrong from this message ?

Error message says: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure your file system allows you to write privileges and you have enough desk space to copy the mailbox.

My computer crashed and I downloaded Itunes on a new computer and I'm trying to get new music and it says my Ipod is synced with another itunes library {my dead computer} and I can either erase and sync or transfer itunes purchases. Forefox won't start in windows XP: I get the message that windows "cant' find the exe file" even when I click from the program file, rather than the shortcut.
Delete the current Firefox shortcut on the desktop and create a new desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu on the Firefox.exe program (Send to > Desktop)

Been trying to get new speed from 8 Meg since Febr...
In December we received a letter stating our bt contract was running out, we phoned up to renew our contract, whilst talking with the sales person we also talked about our exchange that was being upgraded in February to 21CN WBC. They told us that renewing this contract would up us on the priority list for the new speed switch over.
We are still waiting for our line to be changed to the new modulation, we have had numerous calls to bt asking what is going on and why we haven't been switched over yet, only to put through countless line tests and being asked to check our master sockets and filters.
on Wednesday the 25 July 2012 it seemed like I made some progress speaking with someone who actually sounded like they knew what they where talking about over the telephone, they stated that our line would be switched from adsl max to adsl 2 and it would take 48 hours and then it would be done. It's now Sunday and our speeds and modulation are still exactly the same.
Could some one please help it's been months of trying to get anywhere over the bt phone helplines.

The main reason We were after the new speeds was the new upload speed, it seems my download speed has been improved but my upload speed is still the same.
Would I need to re contact the care team after the 10 days training period on the line training to see about getting the new upload speed also?

I have Yahoo mail. I got an email that they are upgrading site.so I tried to get the new version. When I did they gave me a message that i needed Safari 5. When I went to Safari to download it on my ipad it was grey. I am afraid I will not be able to access my email. What should I do?
You can set up your Yahoo mail account in Settings. Once you've filled out the information, you can access your mail via the Mail app on the iPad, instead of via Safari.

Trying to get new iBook set up - frustrated!
So, why, if Apple makes such a big deal about easily being able to transfer data from your old Mac to your new one, don't they include the necessary Firewire cable?
I've been sitting here for two hours trying to get my new iBook up and running. Don't have a Firewire cable so I can't transfer my Internet settings; can't find my Direcway satellite Internet settings anywhere on my old iMac; don't know what the heck I'm doing. And it's almost 2 a.m. and I have to work tomorrow.
Grrrrr.Best Buy was out, but I found a Firewire cable at Staples last night and was able to transfer my data from my old iMac to the new iBook. Thirty bucks -- those things aren't cheap!
Now I'm trying to decide the best way to organize my old and new account info on the new iBook, since I now have two user accounts. (Use new one for clean slate? Stick w/old one? Merge somehow?)
I'm also having problems getting connected to the Internet with the new Airport Extreme base station and have posted over in that topic. I was able to connect once successfully last night, so I don't understand why I can't now.

I have windows 7. When i recently installed windows updates I began having script errors for firefox and my weatherchannel programs. I went to control panel, programs and features and tried to delete these 2 programs to install new ones. It seems like the programs didnt compeletly uninstall because they are still listed in my programs but have no file size. I downloaded latest version of firefox but it wont install. It tells me i need to restart computer to install a previous upgrade. I do that and nothing happens. I keep going around in circles.
If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

* Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

700p suddenly gives invalid user/password message when trying to get new mail
My Yahoo Mail Plus account is working fine. When I use versamail on the Palm Treo 700p to retrieve emails from my active Yahoo account, I get "-ERR(Auth)invalid user/password" message. I can access my Yahoo Mail account from the "Web" app on my treo.
So it is definitely a VersaMail issue. This happened after it had been getting new mail (and sending) successfully.
Can anyone help?
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Verizon)unfortunately Yahoo and their Branded contracts just don't work as advertised and neither the ISPs Nor Yahoo appear in the slightest bit interested.
If you delete the popstate.dat file in the profile folder in the yahoo server directory, it will restart the download again from the top (Everything)
You might also find that disabling email scanning in your anti virus program may be beneficial. (Could it be McAfee?)
The majority of RETR complaints here are from ATT and BT users, both of whom get McAfee given in by their ISP. -
iTunes won't install on my PC after using it for several years, now I get the following error message; "The installer has insuficient privileges to modify this file:C:\programFiles\iPod\Acknowledgements\rtf." I get the same error message if I try to uninstall iTunes as well. I am the only user of this computer and am the administrater.

Trying to use new 500GB external hard drive for backup for first time
I'm doing our normal Clonezilla Backup procedure and ran out of disk space for the first time. The normal person who does this is on vacation. I put the new hard drive in for the backup, but when I ran Clonezilla it didn't recognize it.
I looked in Server Manger and it shows it as Unknown with a red arrow and not initialized. It's shown as unallocated. What do I need to do at this point? Do you have instructions or a link to instructions? I'm new to working with servers,
etc. I probably need to format the new external drive but I'm not sure how. This is a simple server, without VM's, etc.

Illustrator/Indesign is not syncing my Typekit fonts anymore
Any one else experiencing a similar issue. When I open my Creative Cloud desktop App there is nothing in the Home tab or Fonts Tab... Deleted and replaced Creative Cloud app, deleted contents of OOBE and still Nothing Miffed!
