Trying to go to a new site...just hangs

I see this happening both with Safari on OS X Mavericks (latest released versions of OS X and Safari) and on iPhone 6 Plus and iOS 8.0.2. When you try to go to a site, like even Apple.com, the progress band goes just a little ways, then just pauses, for up to several minutes (like it's hung or "thinking"). It may finally get to the site, or may never get there. I can often cancel or shutdown Safari, try again, and go right there. Have run bandwidth and other tests and seem to have a good Comcast connection of ~ 30 Mb download speed, that's constant (iMac connects wired, iPhone wireless).

Go step by step and test.
1. Power cycle
     Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
     Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
     It will take a   while.
     Restart the computer.
     Start up in Safe Mode

2 Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and all other website data:
     Press “Remove All Website Data” button

I got a new computer and have reinstalled Dreamweaver. I don't need to set up a new site, just need to set up reinstalled Dreamweaver to manage the old site on the company server. Does anyone have a step by step walkthrough for doing this?

The site files are on our server and I can still access them. I was not the one who installed and set up Dreamweaver initially and don't know very much about the program Just enough to manage our simple site and keep it updated. Just need help setting it up so that it's back to managing our website.

Go to Site > New Site and define your site. See screenshots:
Servers: Enter your FTP log-in credentials and remote server's root directory. If unsure, check with your hosting provider for details.
Click on TEST button. If you're unable to connect, click the More Options triangle.

Trying to re install os x but just hangs at apple logo

I powered up the macbook air but it just shows question mark flashing, tried to re install os x but it just hangs at apple logo. I rebooted holding down Alt and it onloy shows USB drive. Done a Hardware test and it shows no faults. Any Ideas!!!!!!!!!!???????????

Time to make an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP for service. You can try booting in the Recovery Partition by holding down the Option key when you hear the start up tone. Then run Disk Utility and attempt to repair the disk. If it comes up with errors after repairing the disk 3-4x then you know it's dead.

Issues with IE 7 and getting to the site - just hangs and then page cannot be displayed

Works fine if I open another browser and try to get to site - anyone else having this issue?

I do not even use IE on my computers, FF is the way to go.

You have two PDF "reader" plugins installed. Try disabling one of them. Tools > Addons > Plugins

Dreamweaver CC Mac OSX 10.9 Crashes when adding new site

I just recently updated my OSX to 10.9 (Maverick) on my MacBook Pro (2012) and now I cannot add new sites using Site Manager. I tried doing this with both New Sites... and Manage Sites... menu commands. When I select the root folder for the site in my local directory, Dreamweaver shuts down and produces the error report. (see below)

What you describe sounds like a permissions problem.
Have you tried creating a new user account to see if that helps?

Socket not used and just hangs program?

Hi, I'm writing a server class and in it, I try to open a socketserver and a socket. However, I found that when the socket tries to open up, the program will just hang there. I think part of the problem is because eclipse is saying that my socket object is never used. Despite having this line: "socket = serverSocket.accept();" being executed. Can someone shed some light into what is causing this to not be used/hang?

The problem is that your socket is never used, by a client. So accept() blocks forever. What exactly did you expect?
The norm is to accept sockets in a loop in a separate thread. And process each accepted socket in another thread, per accepted socket. And to never do blocking I/O in the AWT event-dispatching thread. And not to have servers with GUIs as a matter of fact. And certainly never to have a single static socket variable BTW: this is evidence of very unclear thinking> Even the server socket should be an instance variable.

Troubleshooting suggestions:
Ensure the page you are linking to exists in the correct folder.
Check your file name for case sensitivity . Index.htm is not the same as index.htm!
Temporarily disable any rewrite rules by renaming your .htaccess file if it exists
is the problem with
iweb or with hosting?
One Apple tech started to fix Iweb and had to end session and the next said problem with hosting at Network Solutions as it published
to local folder. NWS has checked sttting a few times-
Any help would be extremely appreciated as trying to fix this for about five weeks

thanks for responding. I read your link, looked at my settings and they were all correct. I tried to do a republish and got this message: The requested URL /childrenandcaring/index.html was not found on this server.
When I type the address in the address bar, I go to the site and the page says: This is the new site childrenandcaring.com
Any other ideas?

Just for fun, my new site

I had to do a little blog-like site for my web class. The code isn't perfect (I only had a couple of days to take this from start to finish) but the results are pretty cool. The inspiration for this was an old school notebook I found at my parents house from when I was a kid. Lots of doodles and stuff that I would do instead of paying attention in class. So I put a few silly widgets on the side for those with ADD like me . I also tried to do things I had never tried, like google web fonts. Lots to do still to clean it all up, but again just thought you would like to see this. Make sure you roll over the title!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. When iWeb publishes a site there is an index.html file that is created in the iDisk/Web/Sites folder that points to the last published site. So when you added a new test site and published the default became that new site. If you make a change to a page in the original site, just a minor one like moving pages as Wyodor mentioned, and republish the original site will again become the default.
If you plan on doing more with iWeb in the way of additional sites you might consider purchasing a domain name for your portfolio and have it point to your the first page of your original site. That way you can then publish additional sites and not have your portfolio site be replaced with a more recently published site.

okay, after ALL day of trying to figure this out, I finally uploaded and published my new site. I always have a tendency to complicate simple things and this wasn't any different.
Maybe this isn't the right place to post this, but I haven't had a chance to view the site in anything other than safari and firefox.
Hopefully I got most of the major kinks out, but would any of you mind taking a look and letting me know if you see any glaring errors?

Hi Christina, I just had a look at your site on Explorer on an iMac and on a PC. Everything seems fine on the PC but in the Explorer for Mac there are quite a few blocks of white space. On the Home page there is one right in the middle of the illustration. On the Portfolio page nothing was displayed below the headline choices, i.e. no slideshow button and no illustrations. On the Bio page the background is white and some of the text is overlaid with what I assume is another block of white space. The other pages appeared OK. I did get a warning on the last page but that was just because I didn't have a certain flash plug-in. All of the above could just be my set-up I guess. Hope that helps anyway.

I have just started to use Muse for our design agency and learning how to build ourselves a new site, I have managed to create a basic lightbox which contains sliding images, what I need to do now is have a pop up window which goes into detail about the projects, what I would like is a piece of text or icon that when you roll over it and then click a separate window pops up with additional information in, once finished reading the info you can then click to close the box, any advice on how to do this?

The best way to do what you're asking is with the Composition widget. Start with the Tooltip preset, which, by default shows the info on rollover. You can change the option to show on click, which is what you're after. You can also add the close button or have the info disappear on rollout.

The trial is always extended. The serial number you enter determines whether it runs as standard or extended.
I'm getting through fine with that link, so it must be a browser issue or some such thing. Try another browser.
