  • Can I clean install a Windows 7 Pro System Builder on a Lenovo PC with Windows 8 preinstalled?

Hi. I would like to clean install windows 7 on a Lenovo PC  that came with Windows 8 core preinstalled. I want to format the entire drive and remove windows 8 and clean install windows 7.  I already tried the clean install of Windows 7 Pro to get all of my drivers in line, and now I would like to buy a Product Key.
Would  a Windows 7 Pro System Builder work in my case? Would it work just as smoothly as a retail version? I understand that the System Builder is an OEM version that includes the Product Key, COA, and DVD) Just want to make sure before I buy the System Builder version of Windows 7 Pro.  Thanks.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

that should be retail since it seemed to be used for pc upgrades either way your new system builder key should work. those are called refresh because they re-released them sincea bug was found in thier installers. Do you have any key in the computer atm? or is windows just waiting to be activated?
EDIT: its a good copy look here>  http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links
Should you want to use the DVD images permanently, and don't own a product key yet, you can order a Windows 7 OEM or retail version from Amazon. The OEM reinstallation versions contain a DVD with a product key just like the retail versions. They are significantly cheaper, but lack a proper box packaging, and don't include technical support by Microsoft. The OEM key will work with the Digital River downloads, so you can just pick the cheapest one. Sometimes better editions are the cheaper ones, so all of the following links to Amazon offers might be worth checking. I've already tried to find good deals for all editions and linked to them here:

  • Upgrading Aspire E380 from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit - No device drivers were found

I'm trying upgrade my Acer Aspire E380 from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and getting an error that no device drivers were found. This happens after booting from the Windows 7 DVD.  The Acer support site only provides Vista 32 bit drivers for this machine.  Where can I find the drivers needed for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit?

I think you need to download this:http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/14875/en-us It seems that Windows 7 doesn't have a disk controller driver for this chpset so you need to unzip the above file and take out the disk controller driver and manually load it so that Windows 7 installer can access the hard drive during installation.

  • Installed iTunes 11.0.4.4 64-bit but window 8 pro 64-bit in task manager reports that iTunes is 32-bit.  Why?  Not running in compatibility mode.  Uninstalled and reinstalled.  Same result.

Installed iTunes 11.0.4.4 64-bit version.  Now windows 8 pro 64-bit reports iTunes as 32-bit in task manager.  Why?  Both my computer and operating system are 64-bit.  ITunes is not running in compatibility mode.  All my music files are MP3.  I uninstalled iTunes and downloaded iTunes64setup.exe from apple and still having the same result.  This was a clean install by-the-way.

    Ummm .... client license?
All license questions should be addressed to Oracle.  I believe what you'll find is that the license for client installation is free.  What you pay to license and support is the rdbms (server) software.
But all licensing questions should be addressed directly to Oracle.  A license agreement is a legal issue, and this forum will have no standing in court.

  • X200s on Windows XP Pro - System process around 50% after Standby or Hibernate

I have an x200s with the SU9300 1.2Ghz processor.  I'm running with a clean installation of Windows XP Pro.  I noticed less-than-expected battery life and found that after leaving the computer on for a number of hours (let's say overnight) and returning from Standby or Hibernate, I find that my "System" process takes up around 20-55% but usually hovers at 49-50% when the machine is idle.  The "System Idle Process" will take up the remaining 50%.  This is observed in the Windows Task Manager.
On my x60s with a core duo processor (and all my other desktops and laptops) the System process will  usually be 0% when idle and the "System Idle Process" will be at 99%.
A restart of the computer will fix this issue until I go into Standby or Hibernate again.  I usually went for days and sometimes weeks without restarting my x60s.  This issue will cause me to get 30% less battery life and will make my system slower to respond, even when I'm typing this post, for example.
Anyone have experience or thoughts on this?  Thank you

Any thoughts from anyone out there?

  • Trying to identify which Clip I have so that I can start with Rockbox

Hi, I have this Clip (Amazon), but it's hard to find out which model it is as regards what I should choose when installing Rockbox. I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me. Also I bought a 32gb Sandisk memory card (Amazon again) for the Clip, and am curious that the Rockbox installer lets me choose that as a potential target for the install. Maybe it's a Mac thing, but the memory card mounts as a separate volume when you connect the Clip via USB. My other big question is, once I have identified the model, where can I find the boot file that the installer needs to start the Rockbox install? The pop-up in Rockbox pointed me here, so I guess I'm following a familiar path (!), but I can't see a pinned post about it anywhere. Would be immensely grateful for a clue.

As your linked page states as to the product, you have a Clip+.
It is relatively easy to install Rockbox, using the Rockbox Utility.  Simply follow the instructions (which are up-to-date, as versus in other locations).  Note:  you do need to read about what you need to do, to know what you need to do.
    http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/RockboxUtility
I also first recommend that you first look at the Rockbox manual, for an overview of the install process.

  • I am trying to identify which platform is best suited for creating a digital magazine?

HI, and thanks in advance for any help.  I publish a digital magazine on Joomag, but want to move away from that platform and use adobe.
I simply don't know which platform within the suite is best suited for a novice user.  I'm not a luddite, but not a wizard either.
    Can someone recommend some solution?

If you only need to handle 2 clients, I see no reason why you
couldn't run your FMS on your Windows XP machine.

  • Host= Windows 8.0 Pro 64-bit Guest= Windows XP Pro 32-bit upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

If I upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1, will it have any affect on my Client Hyper-V XP Pro VM That I have installed ?

The same way that you would on a physical machine - select shutdown, not logoff.
The other option is to do it from the Hyper-V manager. Turn off is like holding the power button on a physical machine - it just powers off. Save puts the vm in a saved state which is quick to restart. Shut Down does a system shutdown of the vm, and
requires a reboot when you start it next time.

  • Dose flash have a 64 bit for windows 7 pro

I have just redid my computer. And i can not find the 64 bit. can some tell were i can find it

    Hello
    the installers >=v11.3 are 32-bit and 64-bit.
They detect what you have and will install the needed versions.
For Internet Expolorer you will need the Active-X version and for other Browsers like Firefox, Opera, Safari, ... the NPAPI (pugin-in) version.

  • Using FF 12 32-bit in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit cause high mem usage

AVG gave an alert msg saying "detected high memory usage.
    256 MB".
It suggest to close and open again.
Also I notice highest page fault.
I didn't do anything, just continue to surf as usual.
I have 4 GB of RAM.
Do I need to be concern about this?
Is there a solution to fix this?
    Thanks.

256MB of Ram isn't really "high" (depending on what you are doing). To put it into perspective. You aren't even using a 16th of your available RAM. AVG is a very poor system optimizer and anti-virus, and often provides false positives.
You can try doing things like uninstalling add-ons you don't use: [[Disable or remove Add-ons]]
Update your graphics Driver: [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Install all Windows Updates, and then test again.
How many tabs and what were you doing when you received this alert? Did Firefox continue to run normally?
You can view at any time how much memory Firefox is using by typing about:memory into the address bar.

  • Windows xp pro x64 edition HELP -- Cant install Itunes

I have searched and can only find answeres that are 4 and 5 years old.
Can I download Itunes for this machine? If not, is there a program I can use that will allow me to play my ipod on this machine?
    Thanks you
    God Bless

The answers from four or five years ago still apply. There is no version of iTunes that supports the 64-bit version of Windows XP and never will be. If you search this forum for "XP 64"or do a web search for something like "iTunes Windows XP 64",  you'll find threads describing the process some people have used to "crowbar" iTunes onto XP 64, with varying levels of success, none of them complete.
As to alternatives, there are third-party utilities such as MediaMonkey, Ephpod, or Xplay for handling the transfer.  I haven't used any of these, so I can't make any recommendations. These applications cannot connect to the iTunes Store, so you will not be able to purchase content from the Store. The applications may also may not work with the most recent iPods, so confirm compatbility with your iPod model.
    Regards.
