Trying to import a PDF

I'm trialing Apeture 2.1.4. Not very familiar with it so I'm not sure if I'm making some fundamental error or trying to do the impossible. I'm trying to import a PDF from my desktop to a project. I've tried the command and dragging and dropping. Either way I only seem to be able to see the top image of the PDF in the project. When I check metadata it says the image is a PDF and shows the size of the PDF but I can only see the first image.
Any help would be appreciated.

Preview, built in to your Mac OS, will be happy to combine many pdfs into a single pdf. Have you tried that? Just open them up, turn on the sidebar for each so you can see the page thumbnails, and drag them into the one document which you want to save as the combined one. Make sure you drop it carefully as Preview can have several documents open at once, so you have to make sure your drag is adding it to an existing document. Give it a whirl.

The value of the Channel Strip volume etc is not stored within the C Strip setting, as you have discovered.
If you really wanted, you could add a Gain plug to the strip, with it set to give the correct output level with the Fader set to 0

Using my PC Desktop I am trying to convert a PDF file to excel. When the data is imported to Excel the majority of the data is vertical in the far left colum.

I am trying to import a PDF file from my desktop PC in to Excel using XI Pro. When the data imports in to excel, the majority of the data is vertical along the far left comumn instead of horizonal along the colums such as name, address, etc. I need to be able to import the data in to the horizonal categories so I can categorize the data after it is in excel. I'm sorry to hear that your file didn't convert well for you. Can you please tell me more about the PDF that you're trying to convert? Do you know how it was created? The quality of a conversion depends on the quality of the PDF, and it sounds like the file you have may not include the tagging information that is required to convert that properly into an Excel file. Is it possible to import a pdf into Adobe Story?

I tried to import a pdf into Adobe Story and received the message: "Failed to import document".
If this is not possible, what kind of files/types of pictures (e.g. jpeg, tiff,...) can be imported?

You can import a .jpg, .jpeg, .png and .gif image in an AV/Multicolumn script.

Importing scanned PDF not working

Hi,
I am trying to import a PDF to create a new form but when importing a PDF that was scanned in, nothing shows up, the form is blank.
If I try to use a pdf saved from another source it seems to work.
Why is this happening and is there any way to get around this? I am trying to scan in a 1099 tax form.

Importing one Pdf document into another.

I am trying to import one Pdf-document into another using a Reference XObject. I am looking at thePDF- specification, and I thought I was doing things the right way, but its not working. The PDF-specification doesen't have an example of how to do this, only an explanation.
Below is the PDF-file I am testing with (if anyone can be bothered looking at it ). The file embeds another pdf-file, and is supposed to show a part of the embedded file at a certain position.
Again, if anyone can be bothered looking at my PDF and see if they can see what I am doing wrong here I would appreciate it.
(There is nothing wrong with the embedded file itself...)

PDF is a binary format. The most important piece in a PDF file is the cross
reference table. It contains byte offsets to the different objects in a
file. If you insert just one space (which in a true ASCII file will not
change much), you are making all byte offsets after the insertion point
invalid. They now all point to something different than the start of an
object.
Because there is no standard about how line endings are encoded in text
files, every time may add (or subtract) a byte - depending on what computer
system and what editor you use to convert your PDF to fake-ASCII, and then
again what I use to try to convert it back to PDF. If you are using a
Windows system and I'm using a Mac, the cross reference table gets
corrupted. And that's even before the web server does it's magic and
potentially adds data.
If you want somebody to look at your file.
Have you looked at the post I linked to? The settings in Acrobat are
important. You need to enable Reference XObjects, AND you have to declare
the directory where your target file is stored as trusted.
From what I can see in your PDF code, you are doing a whole bunch of cm
operations. You may want to consolidate all those into one operation. I
have not done a detailed analysis, but you could potentially shift your
data off the page. Keep it simple and see if that makes a difference.

I have imported a PDF form (created in adobe acrobat XI pro) into FormsCentral. I now want to convert this document into a web form so I can embed it into my website. HOW DO I DO THIS?

I took a word document I had created and added fields to it in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. I then imported the PDF in Forms Central and now I am stuck. All I am able to do with it in FormsCentral is add a submit button. It will not allow me to edit the document in FormsCentral. What I ultimately need to do is get this converted to a web form so that I can embed it into our company website. Additionally, once it's converted, I need to add an option for the user to attach their resume with the file before submitting. I have looked all over the web and I cannot find an answer as to whether or not I can convert PDFs to web forms in FormsCentral. This will ultimately determine whether or not the company decides to purchase these programs after the trial version has ended in a few days.

I tried that first, but FormsCentral does not have the capability to create tables. The form I need to create is more advanced than what FormsCentral allows. Do you know if there is a way to create or somehow import a table when creating a web based form on FormsCentral?

Import multipage pdf in an Illustrator document

Hello,
Does a script exist to import multipages pdf document in an illustrator document ?
I usually use InDesign to import multipage document with the script named "pdf import".
The goal of the manipulation is to outline fonts, or resize the different boxes (Trim box for exemple).
An other question : can we import a ".jsx" file made for InDesign into Illustrator ?

Illustrator has a PDF open options object with allows for sizes height, width, boxes i.e. media art crop and page to open.
I have so far NOT tried scripting this but should NOT think its too much of a problem with the exception of knowing how
many time you need to loop to get all the pages in the PDF. The scripting guides contain a basic example too.

I start with a pdf document convert it to a jpg
     mark it up in ideas
     then finish up with a marked up jpg document
     then reconvert it back to a pdf
I can only use jpgs in ideas. Converting the pdf to a jpg and them re convert it back after marking it up but this seems like an awfully round about way of doing things especially as it should all be inhouse adobe products .
An alternative would be to use adobe reader to mark up the document, but this does not allow me enough control as compared with marking it up Ideas, particularly with layers and control of the tools.
What I am trying to do is mark up and scribble over my architectual CAD drawings which are exported as a pdf document.
Any one got any bright ideas?

I also considered recommending Adobe Debut, it is currently only available on Android and might only work if you presenting the markup data from the tablet itself. You can import a multi-page PDF and add markups to the various pages and present the document to someone from the tablet, not sure if that would be useful for you or not?

If you have placed your .jrxml file say in C:\reports, and when you use compileReportToFile(jrxmlFileName), then the jasper file will be created in the same directory C:\report with the same file name with .jasper extension. If you want a pdf report then specify the same location and file name with '.pdf' extension as destination .

How do I import a .PDF into inDesign? Does anybody know how? I need to edit a book in inDesign that is a .PDF. So if anyone know how to do that please tell me.

Re PDFs - actually, I'm working in Acrobat (not just a finalized PDF), and Acrobat does of course allow editing of a sort; I'd concluded that since Adobe is willing to tolerate that degree of editing with its product, it should therefore tolerate moving its native format (*.pdf) into another of its own native formats (*.indd). I see that's a misconception.
This morning I tried all flavors I could find of getting my Acrobatted content into ID3, including copy/paste, place, and import (from the ID side); none was satisfactory. Output from Acrobat to Word and then placing Word was fine for English but destroyed the Greek - not just wrong font, but complete gobbledygook and loss of all diacriticals. Names of fonts don't matter for my purposes; the legibility of the English, and the legibility and tonic accuracy of the Greek do matter. Author of this project is not tech-savvy and is using old Greek system as well; nothing he or i can do to fix that.
Current plan is to request author to provide me his native files, which will be Mac files. Am I understanding the Import dialog and your collecitve comments to suggest that with that file resident on my PC (and unopened), I can use the Place dialog, with "Show Options" selected, to get the Mac file into ID?

FrameMaker keeps "bombing out" when trying to import photos

Hello:
I have been having problems all day trying to get some photos into my FM document but the application keeps "bombing out" on me; that is, it either hangs and reports back an Internal Error 8004, 6345644, 8487696 message or the application completely closes. I want to import the photos by reference rather than copy them but nothing seems to be working for me. I've tried importing the files as .JPEG and .PNG formats without success so far. Each photo is ~3565KB in size.
I searched the forum for this particular error message but most of the comments had to do with PDF files and they don't apply to my situation (I even changed the printer to Adobe PDF before I began importing the files without any noticeable improvement).
System details:
Dell Vostro with Intel Core2 @ 2.40GHz and 3.25 GB RAM
photos from a 10 MP Canon camera (saved as both .JPEG and .PNG files)
FrameMaker v8.0p277
Windows XP
Is it a matter of available system memory or is it something I might be doing in the import process? I'm looking forward to finally getting to the cause of this issue with your help.

I haven't been clear enough or if I haven't undestood your suggestions: When I download the photos from the camera as JPEGs, the file size is large. I then open those JPEGs in PaintShop Pro and save them again as JPEGs. I tried this because I'd read that it would help to reduce the file size and it does. I also save the original JPEG as a PNG because PNG is less loss-y.
I am concerned about file size because I receive an error message in FrameMaker when I try to import a photo (both JPEG and PNG) that says "The filter encountered an error and could not complete the process." I get this message and I don't know why. I get the error message at first and if I continue trying to import a file Frame just closes on me.
I thought that maybe something to do with memory.was causing the message.

PS: I tried to copy a file (one of the smaller JPEG files) into my document and received the same error message. I'm stumped.

'NotAllowedError:' - when trying to import a picture in acrobat reader v7

Hi
I am desperately trying to create a pdf template that people can use in Acrobat Reader V.7 - V7.1. I want the functionality that enables the user to click on a placeholder button/area and it will bring up the dialogue box enabling them to navigate to a picture file and insert it.
I found this code on another forum which I attached to a button;
event.target.buttonImportIcon();
- and it works fine in acrobat Pro - but on Acrobat Reader - even after enabling usage rights it is throwing up an error;
NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
I believe there may be a way round this using a trusted function - but I am a complete novice when it comes to Javascripting and wondered if anybody could advise?!

Try the importIcon method to get a reference to an icon object, and copy it to the button, but it will only work to import PDF pages. Reader cannot convert images (jpeg, gif, tiff, etc.)
