Trying to import files to Folder

I Have Aperture 2.0 and last night I imported my photos into the Aperture library. I left the images where they were and Aperture generated thumbnails and previews. Today I put the Compact Flash card into the reader and tried to copy the files from the CF card into a subfolder in one of the folders. The OS said I didn't have the appropriate rights.
What happened? Did Aperture change the rights to the folders? Prior to using Aperture, everything was cool.

It's in the finder. I did some more investigation and had to reset the rights on all the folders in my Digital Photos folder.
Don't know why it was reset but it's OK now.

Crashing when trying to import files!

I used the betas with out issue.
Now I am trying to import some of my older photographs. But it keeps crashing throwing up
A) Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error
Runtime error!

Promptly followed by
B) lightroom.exe application error
The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x781346b6
Click ok to terminate this program.
Quite annoying not being able to import photo's in to a photo management suite.
Some additional information, all images are apx 640x480 all in jpg, and if I go back in and run it again slowly I can get the whole folder imported, but I have thousands of pictures from this old camera.
Hope someone can shed some light, and hoping all these crashes are not going to corrupt my database!.

I unfortunately can't say for sure if one of them is this one, but we have cornered a few crash bugs on Windows related to some peculiar values for certain metadata found in some JPEG files and at least one of them is related to a feature that was added after the last beta, which makes me hopeful it might be the one you are seeing.
What kind of camera are these files from? Is there a place you could post a couple of example pictures? I'd like to be able to confirm with greater certainty that we've fixed the bug you're seeing here.

Imovie hung up after trying to import files

Hello,
my son tried to import some MP4 videos in to imovie 09. It did not work and the program crashed. After we rebooted imovie kept giving the same failure message "the clip file XXX could not be found. Without this file the movie cannot be played". I deleted all remaining MP4 files he had on the computer. The message persisted. I then upgraded to Mac OSx 10.6.8 but the program persisted. I then deleted imovie and reinstalled it. And now we still have the problem. Does anybody have an idea why this is happening and how we can fix it?

In my experience, the following section may help to resolve your issue:
Delete the User Preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring an iLife application back to its original settings (this will not impact your project files or libraries). To do this:
1. In the Finder, click the Go menu and choose Home.
2. Open the Library folder and then the Preferences folder.
3. Remove the "com.apple.x.plist" file, where "x" should be replaced with the iLife application you are troubleshooting (for example, "com.apple.iphoto.plist" or "com.apple.imovie8.plist").

Trying to import files with transparent backgrounds into Premier Elements 10

I am struggling to import files from Photoshop CS3 into Premier Elements 10 and preserve their transparent background. I have tried .png (8 and 24 bit), .gif and .psd files. I have tried rasterizing the type layer before "Saving for web and devices" but can't get anything to work. The imported files end up as either text on a white background (.gif) or the file imports as a black background with no type visible (.png and .psd). I have read a few forums but can't find any suggestions beyond what I have already tried. I also get the same problem if I "Save for web and devices" out of Illustrator.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

You have brought up one very interesting maintaining transparency question which I feel goes more to the trigger on the
Premiere Elements Videomerge pop up than to the Photoshop CS2 Save As with or without a check mark for Maximum Compatibility
And, I find that Photoshop CS5.1 as well as CS2 involvement in this matter is the same.
I created three 720 x 480 pixels documents, each with a blue colored circle on a transparent background in
Photoshop CS2 and saved each
psd with check mark next to Maximize Compatibility

Each of them was imported into a NTSC DV Standard Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit project.
Each triggered the Premiere Elements 11 Videomerge pop up.
If I checked No for the program request to apply Videomerge, then all 3 results were the same, that is,
the area around the circle was transparent and the circle was not...just the way it was created in Photoshop CS2.
So, why was the Videomerge message telling me "Clip being dropped contains solid background color" when
it had transparency represented by black and did not have a solid background color?
Even more interesting was what happened if I selected Yes to the program's request to
apply Videomerge to create transparency for what it claimed to be seeing as "solid background color".
The result was the same for all three cases, that is, the inside content of the circle became transparent
and the "black background" became a "solid color".
Videomerge is not one of my preferred Premiere Elements options.
To avoid the Videomerge pop up, I would suggest placing a check mark next to the "Do not show again.",
followed by No in the Videomerge pop up. When you do, you should not be confused by the activities of the
Videomerge pop up activities and you should have no problems with the maintenance of the Photoshop
created transparency in the Premiere Elements project.

HT1338 What do I do if the Mac I am trying to import files into is telling me that the Migration Assistant on my other computer (Mac OS X 10.4.11), need to be updated - but I already checked for Software Updates and it said they were up to date?

I am mainly concerned with trying to import my iTune Library into my new MacBook Pro.
I don't want to lose all my tunes!

Assuming you have an optical drive in or connected to your MBP, the easiest way to go is to do a backup of your existing iTunes library to DVDs (you may need several) . In iTunes 9, this is done with selecting File->Library->Back Up to Disc... and following the directions. I do not see that capability in the current iTunes, though, but if one is using Tiger, one is limited to iTunes 9.
When the discs are burned, mounting any of the discs on the MBP should cause iTunes (you may need to have it up) to ask if you want to import the files. It goes pretty smoothly, or at least it has for me in Mt. Lion and Win-7. It's a little involved but it does work.

Howto: Automatically import files from folder at app launch!

I've never used iPhoto much, but I am starting to like it. I don't exactly know why, but anyway. A thing I'd like to do (and I don't know if that's possible or not) is have iPhoto automatically import photos from one or more directories (or a directory + subdirectory) when I start the program. I've seen similar questions like mine, and some AppleScripts/FolderActions on how to make iPhoto launch and import files when they are put in a certain folder. But I'd prefer if it didn't automatically start. Sometimes I want to just drop some photos into a folder without wanting to look at/edit them right way, and so these scripts don't suit me. Perhaps what I want, can also be done with AppleScript (I know it's powerful!) but either way, I would appreciate if someone could help me out here or at least answer me if it can be done (in a way that is simple for me!).

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Auto Import'. Make an Alias to the Folder (File -> Make Alias)
Drag the alias to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Pop files onto that Alias, they'll be imported next time you launch iPhoto.
This seems to be an option that was being added to v7 and then not finished.
You may also be able to concoct something with Automator or check out Hazel

Hello Guys!
Since I downloaded the latest ITUNES version I have the problem, that i tunes does not import all my files from the mp3 folder.
I have around 2000 files and it only imports 960.
Does anyone know what the problem might be and how I can solve it?

DVD Studio Pro Crashes when trying to import file

Hope you can help me because this is driving me crazy!
Whenever I try to import .ac3/.m2v files to DVDSP, the program crashes. The strange thing is that it is happening only when I try it on one particular file. I seem to be able to import anything else but the audio/video files I really need! I've tried re-compressing, and re-naming the file, I've also tried importing the file on a different computer, but nothing seems to work.   I haven't tried reinstalling since it seems to work with other files and I've tried it on separate computers.

In FCP, export the file in 4 different chunks.
In Compressor, convert each chunk to ac3/m2v.
Import each chunk into DVDSP.
Do they ALL cause problems or is it only one chunk?
If only one chunk, there is something wonky with the video in that segment.
Divide it up and go through the same process until you identify the offending source video. Once identified you have a couple of options -
1. Cut it out and try to stich the material around the hole.
2. Try using Digital Rebellion's ProMediaTools to see if it can fix the problem.
3. If the original media was in a different format, go back to the original media, reconvert it and replace the bad segment.

After my recent update, I can't get my music to copy to my itunes library. I've tried both adding file and folder, but nothing works. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you resolve it?

I've tried uninsstalling an re-installing itues sevral times, and still can't get it to work. I don't know what else to try.

iTunes will silently ignore any request to add files that it can't get access to. It is hard to know for certain but it seems that some requests go via the current user account and some via the system account. Might be worth checking that both your account and system have full access to all the files you are trying to connect, and that they are not hidden.
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

I found that the latest version was probably renamed.
If you do a tar tvf Oracle_Developer_Day.ova it shows you that the files inside are actually named differently:

Importing Files seems to be stalled

I am trying to import files to a folder in Dropbox. It worked the first couple of times I tried the transfer. The screen says 'Importing Files...' but it seems to be stalled. I've tried reinstalling the Dropbox. I've tried closing Lightroom and Dropbox. I've tried sending files as DNG, Copy, and Move. I've tried powering down computer. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a file on my computer which has all my music in, so all i do is put music in that folder and then just copy and paste it stright into itunes, i never have problems. Hope it helps

Error message -50 while trying to import music -

I have the error message -50 coming up when I am trying to import files from C drive. You have the question: iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod but not anything to do with -50 error message. Are you able to help me out. I lost nothing after the upgrade and "restore from previous backup." The only app that was not functioning after the upgrade was Copilot Europe, but the solution was to delete the app from the iPhone and reinstall it (did not have to pay for it again).
The problem after the upgrade was the fast battery drain and heat that others have been reporting with 4S, but that seems to be an iOS5 issue with some of the settings in Notifications and Location Services. I think I have pretty much solved that one by adjusting some of those. Also, there is already an update to iOS5 in the works.
I hope you succeed with the upgrade!
