Trying to Import iDVD dvd Image to another Computer.

I do not have a DVD Burner in my Computer, so I created the DVD Image hoping that I could transfer this image to my other PC which does have a DVD burner....but it is not letting me. Something about "file could not be moved because ""Videos" cannot be modifie" Any help would be appreciated.

Never Mind I found the Answer...

I asked this question before but I can't find it now. Anyway, I'm trying to import a DVD video that was made on a MAC and use it on a new iMovie project.
How do I do the importing.

If the video is already on a DVD:
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • Trying to build a DVD image, DVDSP4 says not enough space

I have many years' experience using DVD Studio Pro 4, so this hopefully is not a stupid question.
I'm using an iMac with 80gb free and an external HDD with 12gb free.  I have authored a DVD in DVD Studio Pro 4.  The project says it's 4.6gb.
I need to make a disc image file of the DVD so I can burn it to DVD media using another computer.  When I do this, it encodes for hours and then says "Formating Failed.  Not enough space of the output media"  (I might be paraphrasing.)
The only possiblt output medias, the iMac and the external drive, both have plenty of space, and the project is under the limit.  So what gives?

Let me try this again, because I think we're not communicating.
I have authored a DVD Studio 4 project with menus and assets, etc.  It simulates just fine.  The tab on the top of the DVDSP screen indicates my project is 4.6gb.  This means I should have no problem turning this project into a DVD.  The computer I'm working on has no DVD burning capabilities so I want to create a disc image of the project instead of burning a DVD.  I have done this before, where DVDSP encodes and builds a file that I can then use Disk Utility to burn to a DVD.  So, once I have my disk image, I will transfer that file to another computer, and use Disk Utility on that second computer to burn the DVD from the disk image.
    NOW
The problem I'm having is that DVDSP is not able to make the disk image.  When I go to "Build/Format", it should make a disk image, but instead, I get an error saying there is not enough space on the output device.  The "output device" in this case is my external Hard drive which has plenty of space.  That is why I am asking for help.

  • Aperture busy for 3 days trying to import over 1000 images

I am trying to import over 1000 images, and Aperture is showing busy with the colorful dial since 3 days ago.
How can I check the import log to ensure it is busy working and not stuck?

First, sign out of MobileMe from your System Preferences, the "Mobile Me" tab.
    Press the "Sign out" button.
Then launch Aperture again. If you still see the "MobileMe" panel, press the "Learn More" button, not the o.k. button. Ignore the web page tat will open.
In Aperture go to the File menu > Web Accounts > Edit Web Accounts.
    Delete the MobileMe account.
Now you should be able to find the project (partially) downloaded from Mobile Me in the Library Inspector panel. This will have MobileMe in the name. Trash it.

i'm trying to download a recent purchase on another computer of mine.  I was able to download and then I put in the serial number.  Then Adobe asked me for a qualifying previous version and a serial number?

The license for the version you are installing is an upgrade, which requires you to identify the older (qualifying) version that you are upgrading from and to provide its serial number as well to prove that you qualify to use the upgrade.  There should be a list to select the older version from followed by entries for the serial number of the older version.

  • Trying to import from DVD

    Hi everyone,
I am making a documentary on my friends band. He gave me some extra footage on a DVD-R. I have no problems watching the DVD.
I am trying to import it into IMovie, but it isn't working. I click on "Import" and click on the DVD and it shows 2 files. One is Video T_S and the other is Audio T_S.
In the audio file, there is nothing there. In the video file there is a 7 files, but they are all greyed out. I click on open anyway and it says it is importing, but nothing happens.
Does anyone know what is going on here? If you need to know the names of the 7 files, ask and i will list them.
    Thank you in advance

  • How can I view backed up iPhoto images from another computer?

Hi! I have an iMac, and a MacBook Pro. I have backed up both my iMac and MBP to a Seagate FreeAgent 1 TB external hard drive. I am going abroad, and I want to delete my photos from my MBP. Before I do that I want to be sure that I can still be able to view them on MBP while I am away instead of keeping them on my computer. So, I went into my iMac backup on my MBP and I tried to open my iPhoto Library, but I received this message... "The iPhoto library is a Time Machine backup, and so cannot be used as the main library. Reopen iPhoto with the Option key held down to choose another library."
Is there anyway to be able to open both of my iPhoto libraries that are backed up on my hard drive with both my computers? Or can I only view the images on the computer they were originally on? Because in that case then I can't delete the photos from my MBP like I had planned.
    Thank you!!!

You can't open them with iPhoto but you can view and restore individual photos in the backups.  See the gray box towards the end of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #15.

  • Using a clone image on another computer

I made a clone of my MBP Tiger system using superduper to an external drive before upgrading to Leopard on the MBP.
I also have a Mac Pro running Leopard.
I would like to transfer just my emails in Mail from the MBP clone image to my Mail inbox and sent folders on my Mac Pro.
The rest of the clone doesn't interest me and I plan to wipe it out and create a new clone of the MBP after it is all set up running Leopard.
Migration assistant didn't seem to allow me to do just this so I didn't use it.
Can I connect the external drive with the MBP clone image to my Mac Pro and boot from that without creating problems because it is another computer with different hardware?
Can I then just export those Mail folders and then import them into my Mac Pro's Mail folders?
If doing it on the Mac Pro is impossible, can I boot from the clone with my MBP now that it is running Leopard and export the Mail folders there then just transfer them to the Mac Pro?
    Thanks for any advice.

The answer to that is "maybe," but you don't have to boot from it to export folders from it to another drive. As long as the Finder can see it, you can import folders from it to your startup drive.

  • Exporting IMovie to Flash Drive vie IDVD for Burning on Another Computer

I have made a slide show in IMovie and since my computer can't burn a DVD, I would now like to export the IMovie to IDVD and then onto a flash drive so that I am able to burn on another computer (probably a PC). Which is the best format to put the movie in for export via flash drive and how can I create the appropriate file after transfering the IMovie to IDVD. There didn't seem to be an export or share option for me on IDVD. If someone could help with the steps after sending the IMovie to IDVD. Thank you.

  • Importing a DVD made on another machine

Is it possible to import a non-copyrighted DVD made elsewhere into I-movie or Final Cut Express. I've inserted the DVD and it plays fine in Quicktime Player. Is there anyway to get it directly into FCX?
    Thanks.

Thank you very much. I tried streamclip but couldn't make it work. I think I'll hook up my DVD player through my Analog/digital converter and import that way. Sounds simplest.

  • Whenever I'm trying to import videos into Image Capture and iPhoto, it doesn't allow me to?

I've been trying to do this for about an hour now. And it keeps on bailing on me!! I'm super stressed right now and I'm about to rip out my hair.
It keeps on importing my images sure fine, but whenever I try to import a video (all of my images are about a minute, three to four minutes and one close to ten minutes) it says there something wrong with it and it can't import! Grrrr!
Please write ASAP, I realy need someones help!! xxx

Unfortunately, I don't have an iPod, so I'm not familiar with how it works. However, have you tried syncing it - does it wind up in iTunes?
As for iPhoto, you should be able to copy or export the files to whatever location you want: your Documents folder or your desktop for instance. If you have them in iMovie, you will need to work on your project there (iMovie is a video editor, not a filing system or player) and then export/share it. If you export it, you can save it to any location you want as well.

  • Cant import from dvd image

I have a movie that plays on my computer but when I explore the disc I have 2 folders Audio_TS and Video_TS. What do I need to do to it to be able import it into iMovie???

I have iSquint and it worked great I also have streamclip. Which do you think is better?
MPEG Streamclip is more functional but requires the $20 QT MPEG-2 Playback component be installed for use with MPEG-2 files so I usually recommend iSquint and a first step test since it is free and doesn't require the component.
Basically, iSquint only allows you to export to either MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC. Pre-set will work but does not provide highest quality unless you increase the data rate manually. On the other hand this application is both free and simple to use.
MPEG Streamclip is much more full featured in that you can export to any iMovie '08 "edit" compatible compression format -- including DV, AIC, Motion-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264 with DV, AIFF, AAC, Uncompressed, etc. audio. It also allows you to crop/scale/center the video; blend frames when reducing frame rates; de-interlace; re-sample audio; trim and/or join files; adjust volume, brightness, contrast, and/or saturation, as well as, apply a limited number of QT filters such as scratches, dust, hairs, fading, tints, etc, as part of the re-compression process. While it is not as easy to use as iSquint, it does allow "room" for the budding video enthusiast to "grow" in as he or she learns more about its use. About the only thing it cant do as well as QT Pro, is the layering of content. I consider both MPEG Streamclip and QT Pro as indispensable for daily use where a full editor is not required or ungainly.

  • How to transfer both original and modified images to another computer?

    Hi,
I've been trying to figure out if there is a way to copy items between iPhoto libraries in two different computers.
Basically I've got a desktop mac and all my digial images are sorted in the iPhoto library there. This is where I want to keep them as the disk is a NFS-mounted RAID-array adding a bit more security.
Now I've got a macbook pro as a travelling companion. To avoid a huge project later in sorting and editing the pictures, I'd like to do that in pieces while abroad. So I'll edit the pictures already in the macbook and also would like to sort out what stuff to publish by creating albums containing the best pictures.
But how to preserve all that when coming back home? How do I export the stuff from the macbook so that it preserves both the original and modified image and also any comments I've added? And then how to import all this to the mac mini? When I'm at home, both the computers can access the same NFS server so transferring the data is not a problem.
I can of course export the pictures to a folder, copy that folder to the shared disk and then import in the mac mini. But export seems to export only the modified image so I'll lose that if doing it that way. If I just copy the files to the modified/original -folders in the mac mini, the index files of the mac mini lack the information about the new pictures as they were not properly imported.
Is there any way to do this? I can't just copy all the stuff including index files as then I'd lose track on the 10000+ pictures already in the iPhoto library of the mac mini.
    /hv

    Thanks.
It seems to be a little buggy. My first test import seemed to be ok but it didn't copy any of the modified pictures. It seemed to put some originals to the modified folder but not the real, modified ones. Second try seemed to work, though.
Anyway, this seems to be what I've been looking for.

  • Home sharing is not work on either of my computers. What can i do to fix this. I am trying to import my library to my new computer.

I have two computers. One that is running windows XP and the new one that is Windows 8. I have tried several times to import my music Library from the old computer. I have installed and uninstalled Itunes. The Apple's help desk had me to re-install. they sent me an email to import my music. The Home sharing  will not stay on after I hit done. what can I do.

A broken logic may also prevent the firewire startup to work; do you actually see a firewire icon moving on the old MBP?  If not, then you logicboard is probably unable to startup in firewire mode.
Your only other option will be to get your harddrive out to place it in an USB enclosure in order for your new laptop to mount your previous drive.
If you have some technical expertise, you may find instruction in how to do this here: http://www.ifixit.com/.  But you could also find a technician to do this part.
