Trying to import songs onto CD but says not in MP3 format

So, I was trying to burn some CDs yesterday off of my iTunes and the blank CD was detected by iTunes - but once I created the playlist and clicked on Burn, it said that all the songs had problems with them because they weren't in MP3 format.
I went into the Preferences and realized that the setting that I had had it on when importing new songs into iTunes was not for MP3 so I quickly changed it. I reimported one of my CDs that I had bought a while back and replaced the files with the MP3 files and then tried to burn the CD and it worked.
I really don't want to have to do that with all my CDs that I had already put into iTunes by importing the songs. I noticed that there was a "Convert selection into MP3 format" option when you right click in the playlist but once I did that and tried to burn it- the blank CD wouldn't recognize it as MP3 format.
Please someone tell me that I don't have to reimport all my CDs again!!!!!

When you rightclick a song and hit "Convert to MP3" it made copys in MP3 but kept the original AAC files on the PC and in iTUnes.
All you have to do is go thru and find all the AAC files and delete them by highlighting them and hitting the "DEL" key on the keyboard so it removes them from itunes AND puts them in the recycle bin

I have tried uninstalling Itunes and then reinstalling it. The problem seems fixed for a while and then it starts again. I have had to deal with this problem for months now. I find this very frustrating. I don’t see the point in having an Apple ID or password when nobody but me accesses it on itunes. It would make more sense to have an option that will keep account logged in. I also find that your website does not offer any help when encountering this problem.The only options I have online are to login with my apple ID and change my name,email address or password. This also adds to my frustration with Apple. I have tried to turn ICloud on by following your instructions at help.apple.com but still find that the problem isn’t solved. I have looked on your site to see if I have an up to date Itunes downloaded and that ICloud installed correctly and I did. But still cant access my account or retrieve any of the music. I find there are many faults in your system which make it hard for me to enjoy using any of your products. If this continues I may just have to buy a different mp3 player and use that. I do not wish to stop using my Ipod.

You must initiallly activate iCloud from an IOS device or a Mac. You cannot inititally activated from a PC.

Trying to buy songs with paypal, but says I am using my credit Card

Now i have never used Itunes before so I set up an account that uses paypal. I tried purchasing a song, it said, if I was sure I wanted to buy a song, but it also said that it was going to charge my Credit Card...
I'm sure I have plenty of Money in my paypal account so what is it going charge, My Paypal or my Credit Card....?

I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers.

Logging into itunes store on each machine wth different Apple IDs is OK Autorising each others machines with the other Apple ID is OK. This is completley separate from Home Sharing
For Home Sharing to work you need to
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share.
You need to select one of the two Apple IDs you are using and ENTER THIS ON BOTH MACHINES WHEN CREATING THE HOME SHARE.
Home sharing will then work

Did you purchase them on your iPad with the same Apple ID that you are using for iTunes on your iPhone and that iTunes on your Mac is sign into?

Trying to import cd, it only shows tracks, not song titles. when i try and get the titles it says im not registered for online use even though im signed in. how can i fix this?

The "not recognized for on-line use" error is associated with the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to look up and retrieve metadata for CDs. Some users have reported that this error occurs when trying to import from CD, subsequent to upgrading to version 12. A number of slightly different solutions have been reported (though all of a similar nature).
Try walking through the following steps - before starting you may have to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed - in Windows 7 / Windows Explorer select Organize > Folder and search options, then on the View tab make sure that Show hidden files, folders and drives is selected. Without this you won't see the AppData folder in C:\Users\username\.
Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete the following files:
CD Info.cidb
com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this doesn't work:
In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete the following file:iTunesPrefs.xml
Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this second procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.

Delete any copies of the following files:

If you're still not able to retrieve CD info:
Exit iTunes
In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
When this process has finished, restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If none of these have worked (and almost everything I've seen suggests you should be OK by this point), you may have an issue with the installation and configuration of iTunes itself. If you have got this far, see turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on how to remove and replace of all components of iTunes.

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

Do you have error correction turned on? (iTunes preferences - General - Import settings.) If so, it will take much longer to copy audio CD's.

Assuming the songs play in iTunes
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Restore from backup. See:

Yes I held them down till the apple logo appears, then spinning wheel and repeated boot up process. I only knew it was going round in circles because the charging sound kept repeating every so many seconds.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

I have found a work around to this error message. I always found that when importing a CD it loaded the first track and could not do the rest. So I now import each track individually. The important thing to do is to make sure you stop the previously imported track from playing then the next track will import. It cannot play and import at the same time. To import a track highlight it by left clicking on it and then hold and drag it onto the music icon in the library. Once imported it will start to play. Stop it playing and then repeat the above for the next track. As long as you stop the track playing you can import. Takes longer, but at least you can get the CDs imported one track at a time. (Trust these instructions makes sense.)

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.
