Trying to import video from internet to imovie HELP!!!!!!

ASAP.
i need a video from youtube to go on my imovie can anybody tell me how to put it on there?

Welcome to the forum.
What is the format of those Webcam files?
Also, along with the format, it would be useful to know the CODEC used by the capture software. The great, free utility, G-Spot, should be able to give you that info. Here's look at the G-Spot screen, w/ an AV file loaded:
Good luck,

  • I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this?

I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this? I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.

The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether.

  • Trying to import pics from iphoto to imovie- can't import the PSE modified pictures.  I see them in iphoto.

Trying to import pics from iphoto to imovie- can't import the PSE modified pictures.  I see them in iphoto however they don't appear in the thumbnails in imovie.

Drag the PSE modified pictures from iPhoto to the Desktop. Open them in Preview then save as jpegs (File > Export - then choose Format JPEG). They may already be .jpg files, but are not readable by iMovie. Exporting them from Preview may fix this. Import the saved files to iPhoto - they should now work in iMovie.

  • How to import videos from library to IMovie?

It keeps saying:  None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again.

Are you trying to import clips from one iMovie libary to another or are you importing from a folder on the mac (in movies, Documents etc)
If you are trying to import from a libary, its best to manually copy the clips out first.
    In Finder:
Go to Movies (Or whererver your imovie libary is saved)
    RIGHT click on the imovie.libary
    LEFT click show package contents
Now you should look for events, open or double click on that
To make it easy, copy the folder of the event with the videos in the libary (for example, "Birthday 14" is an event in imovie but this is the folder with the videos in) Right click on it, left click copy.
Go to the movies folder then paste the folder (Right click in white space > paste)
Then try importing from that. Basically you extract the event out of the imovie libary and imovie will just think of it as a folder with videos inside

  • Premiere Elements 7 keeps crashing when trying to import video from webcam, can i fix it? :s

I'm running it on my Sony Vaio laptop I got as a desktop replacement, specs aren't a problem, it runs perfectly with anything I  do except for when I try to import video footage from my webcam under Get Media From.. Webcam or WDM Device. Every time I try, it just crashes. The webcam is built into the laptop and works just fine on any other program.
Any help would be very much appreciated

  • Unable to import video from camcorder into iMovie HD

I am using a Mac mini PowerPC G4 (1.5). I recently bought a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD 106E camcorder that uses DVD discs. The camcorder has no Firewire (iLink) output so I have inserted the DVD into my external DVD writer/player. I can play the footage via the Mac Mini's DVD player software but I cannot import the video clips into iMovie HD.
The icons on the DVD appear to be PC files and are not compatible. Does anyone know how I can take off the footage I have shot and get it into iMovie HD, please?
My secondary thought is that maybe I need to be able to convert the footage clips into Quicktime files, maybe, but I don't know how to go about this, if, indeed, that is the solution.
    Please, please help
    regards, Huguenot

Your camcorder is incompatible with iMovie 5, which is designed to use DV streams from tape, imported via firewire.
If your camcorder uses DVD disks it likely produces files in mpeg2 format, which is the standard, compressed, final delivery format of a DVD and is not intended for further editing, and cannot be imported into iMovie 5.
I am a bit puzzled as to why you chose that camcorder!
Ideally you should take it back and exchange it for a camcorder that records onto mini DV tape and which has a firewire output.
As it is, firstly you cannot import the footage due to lack of firewire. Secondly, in order to use iMovie at all you will have to convert the mpeg2 files into a DV files which is what iMovie uses.
    For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
But any way you do it, there will be penalty in terms of quality.

  • Premiere EL 11 importing video from Internet

    Hi,
I have been struggling undestanding how to properly manage video I download from the Internet and use in Premiere Elements 11.
Most of the time I download from youtube with "Youtube Downloader HD" hoping that this is a valid tool to use and a lot of times I end up with a ".flv" file. If you know of any better software please suggest. Unfortunately, Premiere El. does not import flv file (I hope very soon development team can add this file format too, if possible). So, I have to use another software I purchased called "WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe" to convert the file into avi. (I know that the first software already converts it into avi but wish to retain the original file format.)
I have PAL as live in Europe and would prefer 16:9 over 4.3 if possible, considering that most of the modern TV display are wide screen
1.This is the specs of the movie I downloaded from Youtube at 480p
First thing I notice is that I should have 25fps for PAL rather than 29.970029.
Question n. 01: when converting it into avi can I change frame per second into 25 or should I keep it as it is and in this case select 30fps?
(I ask this question for when I will import it into Premiere EL.)
Question n. 02: when I start a new project what do I select among the many selections (for PAL)? Can someone please provide me the full path from beginning "File/New/Project/Project Settings"?
Question n. 03: as previously stated I selected in Youtube 480p (which should correspond to Progressive Scan 480P 640x480). Howcome in the property of the movie (I obtained it from the VLC Player while playing the movie) reports being 854x470? What should I do?
Question n. 04: is AVI the best video format to convert for later on import into Premiere EL or not? If not, what do you advise me to select?
Last Question: Please it is so important: can someone list me some valid links where to learn about all video format commonly used and how to master this initial portion of the Premiere EL project?
This so that I will be able to manage and properly set correct project settings in future.
    Thank you,
    Spiro

Adobe maintains that the formats that go into Premiere Elements are those which come out of a camera. FLV does not and so it is not supported. I remember seeing this as an official response to a similar question (Can't find that thread)
To answer your questions to the best of my knowledge:
    1. Do not change the output frame rate to 25 from an external software. I say this because there are many algorithms that convert a 30 fps to 25 (Which frames are dropped, what happens to P-frames, bidirectional frames etc.). And Adobe will best understand an algorithm that is theirs. So keep the frame rate to 29.97 when converting to DV-AVI
    2. Convert the video to a project setting that Premiere Elements has. You want a Widescreen, so do a 16:9, 720x480, DV-AVI. This video when brought into Premiere Elements will switch the project automatically to the NTSC DV Widescreen
    3. I don't know this. There are too many things that could have gone wrong. The downloader could have encoded differently, the original file would have been this resolution but youtube chose to "categorize" this as 480P since it is the closest preset for them. VLC could be showing it wrong. Cconvert it to DV-AVI and you will surely see some borders but should not really be an issue once viewed in Full screen. I personally stop noticing them after a while and it is not a pain, for me.
    4. Use DV-AVI. Premiere Elements simply likes it

  • I'm on 64-bit windows 7 trying to import favorites from Internet Explorer 8 to Firefox 3.6.10. When I click on File menu, the import option is grayed out. Any suggestions please...

Sorry, no more content to add.

Yes, apparently I was in Private Browsing mode. I guess FireFox came up in that mode when I started it for the first time. Changed to Remember History mode, Import was then usable and I was able to import my Internet Explorer favorites. Thanks TonyE...

  • I am trying to import video from a tape deck but optimize media is not highligted as a choice

These will be my new original files, I cannot just import as proxy which is the only copy. Does anyone know how to make the optimized media option light up?

It won't. Tape based formats, DV and HDV, are already in a format that's optimized for production.

  • Trying to import movie from iphoto...help!

can i not import a movie recorded with iphoto? i keep trying and it keeps telling me "no matching video".

Double-click the movie in iPhoto; the movie should start Quicktime. From within QT, share/export the movie in any format (choose large for best quality), then import it into iMovie.

  • IMovie not importing videos from iPhoto

I am trying to import videos from iPhoto into iMovie. It is not bringing in ( i.e. creating thumbnails for) anything after Dec 2010. The videos all show up in iPhoto and they were shot with an iPhone. Is there a date range set somewhere that I need to change. I can not even get them if I specifically try and import them one at a time through File-Import-Movies. When I try this method it lets me select the videos, but they still don't show up in my video thumbnails. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Other info:
    OSX 10.8.3 on a 2012 iMac
    iMovie 11 9.0.8

I open up iMovie and it then imports movies from iPhoto. The problem is it is missing several videos. When I select import video it imports those missing files, so I know it's not a file format issue... Anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on how to get ALL my videos into iMovie?
iPhoto will import any file that can be played in the QT Player (i.e., that is "playback" compatible). On the other hand, iMovie '08 will only import files that it can edit -- i.e. that are "edit" compatible. (Would you really want to waste your time importing files only to find that you can't do anything with them once they are "in" the application?) Your solution is to convert non-edit compatible files to compression formats that are editable -- primarily DV, AIC, M-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, or H.264. You should also note that both audio and video content must be edit compatible. For instance, many AVI files contain M-JPEG video which can be edited along with ADPCM audio which cannot be edited and so such files will not import.

  • Importing video from samsung hmx10c camcorder

Trying to import video from samsung's new hmx10c camcorder (oprah's 2007 list), and everything works great at first, (imovie sees camera, shows thumbnail clips). But then it gives me an error message when I try to import. Also, after connecting the camera to the macbook, if I look in the disk image on the desktop, the camera appears to have mp4 files on its internal memory, but they won't play in quicktime either.
Anyone know a method to get the avchd samsung video files into imovie 08? I've got a bad feeling about this.
Thanks in advance to all advice!

Your problems may well be down to the way you connect your camera and in which order you establish a connection. If all else fails voltaic will get the files from your camera in AIC which will readily be imported into im08 for editing.
