Trying to install ALUI Interaction 6.1 MP2 for Linux

I was wondering if anyone has any idea about some issues that I have been having trying to install ALUI User Interaction 6.1 MP2 for Linux.
Here are the specs that I have:
OS: Ubuntu 8.10
Preinstall file run under root: yes
Error Message:

I would appreciate if anyone has any idea how come I am getting the libraries missing issue? I have tried many things but still getting all the same issues with the intsaller. I checked and I have all the libraries as listed too under /lib. If anyone can tell me how I can overcome this that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,
What you need to do is:
cat ALUI_Interaction_MP1 | \
sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > \
ALUI_Interaction_MP1_sed
This command will get sed to create a new file that has removed the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL from it. Thus you can run the file and it shouldnt give you any errors.
Thanks.

    Hi Tamekia,
I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.
Level-three uninstall, and register the Windows Installer Service

  • Help! Bought a used iMac (2008) and I'm trying to install quicktime but its asking me for a password and has Apple in the "Name" spot.  How do I retrieve or reset the password?

    Can anyone help...
I just bought a used iMac (2008) from an ebay seller and I'm trying to install quicktime but its asking me for a password and has Apple in the "Name" spot.
How do I retrieve or reset the password?
It came with the upgrade of Mountain Lion but I cannot find quicktime in the applications.  When I try to install anything this Installer Password thing comes up... so I'm stuck.

I think you're slightly misunderstanding something, so maybe I'll try to chime in, even though everyone has said it in various ways.
Before OSX 10.7 (aka Lion) came out, the upgrades to OSX belonged to the Mac and not the user. Probably there was a technical legality in the user agreement that you couldn't do that, but everyone did. I could sell a Mac with Snow Leopard (or anything before that) by just erasing the hard drive, and reinstalling OSX. Then ship it to the buyer. Now, I was pretty honest as a seller, and including not only the original installation discs but also any upgrade. I would only sell a Mac if I was replacing it, so I always was getting the brand new version.
With OSX 10.7, upgrading was done online, with no disks. So the upgrades were tied to an Apple ID rather than the machine. Recently, I sold a MacBook Pro (to upgrade to a 27" iMac), which came with Lion. I had promised the buyer that it would come with Mountain Lion, but I didn't know that the upgrade was tied to my Apple ID. I made good with the buyer by sending along a $20 Apple App Store card so that she could upgrade to Lion.
So what everyone is saying here is that you need the original Installation discs or Snow Leopard disk to reinstall and wipe out the Mountain Lion that is on your Mac. It doesn't belong to you, it belongs to the seller, and without his Apple ID and password, you cannot use it. Once you do a reinstall of Snow Leopard, then you can upgrade to Lion and then to Mountain Lion. I do not believe you can upgrade directly to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard, but I'm not sure.
If the seller claimed that you were getting Mountain Lion, then he was lying to you (or being more civil, maybe he just didn't know like I did). If you bought the used machine from Amazon Sellers or from eBay, then you have recourse through the feedback system or through PayPal. If you bought it any other way, you're on your own.

The instructions say the number should start with 1057 but there is no code on the disks, box or envelopes the disks came in that start with 1057. I had this problem. There are actually two boxes. The outside one with the photos and stuff and glued into it is another box containing the disks. That box has the serial number. Adobe was NO help with this as if no one else ever could not find it. I had to rip open the outer box.

    Peter,
Apple doesn't sell iWork that way anymore.
You have to get it from the Mac App Store if you want to purchase from Apple, or purchase a disk from a software retailler like Amazon. They're quite cheap online now.
If you do purchase an iWork '09 disk, you will need to trash the trial copy and any plist files it has generated before you install it.

I'm trying to download the Oracle 9i Release 2 for Linux (Enterprise/Standard Edition), I have
a Linux Server running Red Hat 7.2, and the browser I am using is Konqueror 3.0.0-12, the exact
problem is that when I agree to the terms of the license, it appears on the screen for a few
seconds the page where the files are in, but it then returns to the page of the license terms
without an error. If I try to download on a Windows PC (with Microsoft's Internet Explorer) it
works. Is it a problem with the browser or with Linux?
    Thanks for your helping.

  • Can any one help me. I tried to install Oracel 8.1.5 on RedHat Linux 7.0 and failed.

I am running my system with RedHat Linux 7.0 and tried to install Oracle 8.1.5.
I extracted jre required files and when i tried to start ./runIns.sh from install/linux directory it is giving me an error Unable to initalize threads: cannot find class Java/lang/Thread
    Could not create JVM
i tried 3 times and i ended up here and i need instruction to sort out the problem as earlier as possible.pls do advice me in this.
pls send the solution ASAP to my email id - ([email protected])

Make sure you have IBM's Java 1.1.8 JRE/JDK installed on your server and $JAVA_HOME set. Check the Oracle installation instructions. One other problem with Red Hat 7.0. is that
there is a libc library incompatibility problem with Red Hat linux 7.0 and Oracle 8i. The database will not start after you install it. Go to MetaLink (if you have support) and search for document # 121176.1. Basically, you have to download an older version of glibc, modify your Oracle link environment files, re-link the database executables and all will work normally. I did it on my Red Hat Linux 7.0 server two weeks ago and everything is working fine. Only other alternative is downgrade to Red Hat 6.2.

Oracle 8i is not compile/link time compatible with glibc 2.2. It
requires the glibc 2.1 compatibility SDK, i386-glibc-2.1-linux.tar.gz,
to install under systems based on glibc 2.2, like RedHat 7.0.
RedHat 7.0 ships with glibc 2.2. Oracle compiles with glibc 2.1. See the problem here? The good folks at valinux.com have created a compatiblitly SDK that will "fix" Redhat so you can install Oracle 8i. Go to the following link to learn more:

    Vijaya zi,
Are you still having problem..with this..let me know??
first of all 8.1.7 , or 8.1.6. 8.1.5 neither one of these are certified to work with linux 7.0 Redhat.
Secondly there is a work around you could try..assuming that you have set the enviroment varaible and JVM corrent..( let me know if you need help with this)
    here u go...
There is this linux gnu lib file which oracle is looking for which was there in 6.x and not in 7.0.
However if you have upgraded from 6.X linux to 7.0 then it will work..
for some reason it is looking for this glibc file.
either way the oracle message it is giving is not relavant...
it is just not going to work...unless you find a way to implement that glibc file..
I had link..which talk about the work around..

    WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
The procedure for RedHat 7.0 is not officially approved by Oracle. If you are putting a mchine into production, I would strongly recommend sticking with RedHat 6.2 instead (and patching the security holes in it). There are other problems with RedHat 7.0 that extend beyond Oracle. Personally, I'm waiting for 7.1 before I think hard about migrating
    hope this help...
NOTE ---> ORACLE DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS METHOD.
    Good Luck

  • Trying to install a non IP'ed zone for snort

I'm trying to install a zone that runs only snort. I want it to run on a non-IP'ed interface (bge1 in this case)
Without zones I normally do a plumb and arp up and then start snort running on the non-IP'ed interface and it works fine.
I've tried giving it IP 0.0.0.0 and setting physical to bge1, but snort is not seeing any traffic. Confirmed, traffic is there.
Can someone prvoide assistance if you know what's wrong or have done this before. Runs ok if I give the interface a IP.
    thanks

    Hi,
Have you managed to get it working yet? It might not be possible to do this. Because of zone limitations, it may only be possible to use snort in the global zone. Maybe Blaise knows this?
Do a search in this forum on zones networking.

Hi, I'm trying to install w2k os on an mcs-7825-h2 but the smartstart cd (7.40) doesn't have the sata raid drivers.
As these servers don't have floppy disks has any one got any info on how to do this?

do you have the cisco hardwareDetection CD for the version you are attempting to install? if so, use this to boot and prep your 7825.
if not, download the latest smartStart CD (ISO file) from the following location:

  • Failed to install php-oci8 with instant Client for linux 64

    Hello,
I have a 64-bits Linux box with RHEL4, and PHP version has been upgraded from 4.3.9 to 5.1.6. I try to make the connection to remote oracle server.
I download instantclient-basic-linuxppc-10.2.0.2-20060327.zip , and follow the instruction to
    install it.
But when i try to install php-oci8*.rpm, no matter which i use:
    php-oci8-5.1.6-1.el5.i386.rpm or php-oci8-4.3.9-2.2.el4.i386.rpm
The installation always failed due to dependencies errors with oracle instant client.
I also tried with some other packages like: php-oci8-4.3.9-3.el4.x86_64.rpm
All my tries gave me dependency errors.
    sometime like:
    error: Failed dependencies:
    libclntsh.so.10.1 is needed by php-oci8-5.1.6-1.el5.i386
    oracle-instantclient = 10.2.0.3 is needed by
php-oci8-5.1.6-1.el5.i386And I cannt find the right RPM for oracle instant client for linux 64 bits box, and php-oci8 5.1.6 64 bits.
I have been trying on this problem for more than one week, and so frustrated. I will appreciate if I can be guide on this issue.
    Thanks in advance!
