Trying to install and can't

Hi all. Sorry if the answer to this one is obvious but...
I was given a copy of 10.5 which I think was bundled with an iMac or a laptop. When I try to install it on my old G5 tower I just get a message which says "Mac OS 10.5 cannot be installed on this computer.). I'm guessing this is because I'm a different type of Mac and it's decided I've not paid for it.
never mind I thought a free copy was probably to good to be true.....
Cheers. Derek.

I'm guessing this is because I'm a different type of Mac
It is. You need a retail package to install Mac OS X 10.5 onto the G5.

  • Application keeps trying to install and can't

After creating a backup of all my data and updating my N95 8GB to the latest firmware I now have a problem of some application trying to install itself after I use Mass Memory mode or turn my phone off and then back on again.
It tries to install for about 2 minutes (phone just says "Installing Application") and then says that it can't and I should try installing it from wherever it's stored in mass memory.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi Jericho,
    Thanks for your reply.
At the moment I only have the standard themes installed that came with the phone, and these are all on the phones memory, not the "external" 8gb. Also I can't seem to delete any of the preinstalled themes anyway.
The same with my messages, I checked and they are all saved to the phone's memory, not the 8gb memory.
Interestingly I just tried the phone again to see if it would go into mass storage mode and it worked. After unplugging it from the pc though it still tried to install something and I again received the message "Untrusted Software is trying to be installed on your phone, please install it from the applications folder".
I plugged it back in and the mass memory was still able to be read by my computer, so I'm at a loss as to what changed, or stopped running to allow this.

    Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so Contact Apple in your Country to Purchase a Snow Leopard Disc...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
    In the US...
    1-800-MY-APPLE or 1-800-676-2775
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS6. Well, InDesign is the only one that works and I have a ton of work due! I don't have a serial number for Photoshop or Illustrator except for CS3, and they don't work. InDesign gave me no problems. Illustrator says it can't work on this machine. Photoshop needs a serial number. I'm stumped and getting anxious and freaked out. Can anyone help? Adobe Chat is down right now.

if you have a cc subscription, close ps > sign out and then back in to your cc desktop > open ps.
    ai cs6 requires:
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7. Adobe Creative Suite 5, CS5.5, and CS6 applications support Mac OS X v10.8 and v10.9 when installed on Intel-based systems.*
2 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)
2 GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
    1024 x 768 display (1280 x 800 recommended) with 16-bit video card

I have tried to install and run Captivate 4 but it tell me I have this product installed on 2 other computers. I do not have this installed on any other computers.
How do I solve this issue so I can use the Captivate software?

    - You can only sync with one iTune library but you can manually music music and vides with different computers. To do so go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
    - To get iTunes to see the iPod:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

  • When loading the program, the loading, circular icon will not stop. It seems like it is trying to load and can't.  Since Adobe tech support won't help with version 13, I need your help.

I just bought this and was trying to load it for the first time and the circular icon just keeps flashing like it is trying to load and can't.  Most elements come up but I am wondering why it is still flashing like it is trying to load.
At times, the drop down menus will not stay up.  When I click on them, they flash and then disappear.
This is not a blank message.

Not the help you're looking for -- sorry -- but I'm fighting a battle with Adobe tech support, too.  They won't help me with an issue involving using the program, but their site seems to indicate that tech support is available for download, install, & setup.  Check page: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/what-contact-options.html and try calling them again.  Good luck!

  • Error 1856 yeah tried re-install and running as admin still have that error

yeah tried re-install and running as admin still have that error any Ideas?

    Good start.
Only two things I did differently. I used a new admin account. I opened a .mov file freshly downloaded from Apple's web site.
Log into a different account with admin privileges (create a new one if necessary)
Download a .mov file and store it on the hard drive.
    Open the .mov file.
Move that same file to a temp folder on hard drive and assign rights to problem user.
Log off and log in as the troubled user.
That same file should now open
Try opening one of the files that could not open before.
If that doesn't work,  (I didn't do this, it was on another Apple support forum post elsewhere)
    Fully uninstall QuickTime
Download the K-lite Codec pack (I downloaded the full version here http://www.free-codecs.com/Klite_codec_packdownload.htm)
Install it and accept its changes it will make
Once K-lite is installed, now you can re-install QuickTime
    Try opening the file again
    G'luck.

  • Mac OS 10.10.2 is installed and can open documents on my new Mac Air but an error message occurs with I try to attach a PDF to emails.  Any thoughts?  Apple was unable to help.

Mac OS 10.10.2 is installed and can open documents on my new Mac Air but an error message occurs when trying to attach a PDF to emails.  Apple was not able to fix.  Any thoughts?

    The message says:
    Please wait
If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of your document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.
Then it goes on to suggest an Reader upgrade, which I already did.

  • Stuck in Bootcamp Windows install and can't get out

late 2009 iMac with Mavericks with homemade fusion drive with super drive removed.
Was working fine until i tried to use bootcamp to install Windows 7. Now I'm stuck in the Windows partition, windows won't install and can't get out of the loop.  Machine boots white screen with no apple logo and chimes. Eventually has black screen with No bootabe device -- insert boot disk and press any key. I have a USB drive. I've tried everything. Doesn't seem to be recognizing bluetooth keyboard. No sort of button combination on startup works. Tried holding X, command-alt PR, shift, command-R, option. Tried everything. Light doesn't come on on keyboard in startup which means it's probably not recognized. Tried disconnecting internal drives and booting from USB. Tried booting from Time Machine USB drive. Nothings works. Think a USB keyboard would solves this?

I have gotten in this loop.  When doing this kind of thing, a usb keyboard would be good to have around, and that is probably the problem, because when I would boot, the first time set the windows partition to the default drive.  Hold the key combo and boot into OSX, and go into Settings/Startup Disk/ and change it to The osx hd.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

  • I reinstalled acrobat 8 on my computer but when I try to print to a pdf it states that the program isn't activated.  I tried to install and reinstall it but it still doesn't work.

I reinstalled acrobat 8 on my computer but when I try to print to a pdf it states that the program isn't activated.  I tried to install and reinstall it but it still doesn't work.  It shows that it is activated.  I tried to deactivate and reactivate but that doesn't help either.  Everything else seems to work.

    Hi tspcat,
What operating system are you using, and what version? You may be running into a compatibility issue between your older version of Acrobat and the OS that you're running.
Please let us know a bit more about your setup, so we can get to the bottom of this printing issue.
    Thanks,
    Sara

  • Pod Touch 32GB MTP USB device has failed to install and can't sync.

After updating iTunes on my Win7 64bit PC, when I plug my iPod Touch 32GB in, I get the error message "MTP USB device has failed to install" and can't sync. Yesterday, everything worked well.
    Need help, please!

Thank you. I removed iTunes, QT, Safari and related software, then applied a Windows update and reinstalled iTunes and related software. It solved my problem and let me sync my iPod.
    Thanks!

    Hi Tamekia,
I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.
Level-three uninstall, and register the Windows Installer Service
Note: The title of this document is not specific to the issue you are experiencing or the operating system you have, but the 3 steps and instructions are what I suggest we do to resolve the issue you are experiencing.
    Hope this helps.

I keep trying to install and reinstall itunes but keep getting apple application support not found...how do i fix this?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Application Support won't install normally.
