can anybody have a look at this. trying to install Ardour3-svn from AUR. the package builds, but it fails to install. here the last lines: http://pastebin.com/xWgqnabW

Please preface your commands with LC_ALL=C so the output is in English...
There have been some other threads with yaourt erroring out the same way. Try and build it with makepkg and see how you go.

When i click on a link that opens up a new page i only get a page that says 'search bookmarks and history' when it should show up as a new page like for a survey. I tried re-installing firefox with no luck. How can i fix this?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Unable to install from AUR with yaourt

I am having problems installing packages from AUR. I can still use yaourt to install any packages from the official repositiories. As an example, when trying to install zenlib, I get this message:

I should also mention that I currently have a partition of my memory mounted onto /tmp. This is the corresponding line from my fstab:
none /tmp tmpfs defaults,noatime,size=1024M 0 1
I should have the permissions for my /tmp mount set up correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Installing Chrome with yaourt not working

I am a total newbie, apoligies in advance if I'm making any obvious mistakes.
I have just installed yaourt and successfully used it to install Dropbox, now I'm wanting to install Google Chrome (google-chrome-dev in AUR). When I run
yaourt google-chrome-dev
there is no output at all, and when I run
yaourt -S google-chrome-dev
I get
error: target not found: google-chome-dev
I have tried running
yaourt -Syy --aur
which, if I understand correctly, should update the package list from the AUR.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Is that the exact message you're getting? Because if so, it's simple: You've misspelled the name of the package – you're missing the R in chrome.

I´m trying to install Catalyst Catalyst-utils form yaourt, but always recive the same error with md5sums: "ati-driver-installer-10-12-x86.x86_64.run don´t pass the integrity verification" .
I installed a few days ago in nother pc like this one and i don´t have any problem. I don´t know what to do, and i can´t find solution in google. Some help? (my english is horrible...) Gracias.

I,ve installed it form the repository. I think it´s the same packet, but doesn´t work fine. I know that´s a nonsense, but for example, the catayst control center doesn´t work. In any case, I´ve seen a few minutes ago a comment into the aur about that problem. Other users can´t install it today too.

Trying to install Windows with Bootcamp

Hello. First, I do know this has been a recurrent trouble for a lot of Mac user who have tried to install Windows using Bootcamp. Believe me, I've looked it up both here in the Apple Communities and in saint Google. My situation is, however, that I have replaced my optical drive with a SSD, and now my optical drive works externally, via USB. Everytime I try to install Windows in a dedicated partition in the SSD, it just stays forever in a blank screen with blinking cursor.
Apple's troubleshot won't work for me, and I'm beginning to think that the issue has more to do with the optical drive itself. I tried:
To install Windows on the HDD instead of SSD.
To unplug every USB (even mouse), except for the optical drive with Windows 7.
To install it via USB stick (creating a bootable .iso with Disk Utility). In this case the usb stick does not even appear when holding option key.
To try another Windows 7 version (32/64 bits).
I have even read it might be because of a bad installation of the RAM memory... this makes no sense?!
If anyone has encountered this same situation, I'd appreciate some help. Hope I can get this done, because Steam's Age Of Empires won't ever work in OS X :S

If your Mac was originally configured with a built-in Optical drive, and it was later replaced, Bootcamp knows your original configuration and will not work properly in the modified configuration, because it uses your Mac's model string (found in About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> Hardware) for example, MacbookPro 11,3. The only supported method to install Windows is to restore the original HW configuration and install it and then move hardware around.
