I am trying to initially install firefox - when I get to page where I must enter "user name" and "password," I follow prompt and enter Michele-PC\Michele but nothing happens and I
can't complete installation by getting to Firefox wizard set up

Is you Windows user account an administrator account? If you don't have proper permission to install software on the system, you need an administrator to enter their username/password

You can remove the Airplay password from the Settings menu on your AppleTV.

Claudius,either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. What caused you to get the impression that I was writing something else? furthermore this sentence - "The solution you described in your initial message isn't actually once since all the time you were operating on different account that weren't actually linked" does not make sense, I think you mis-edited it.and I need to point out that you are incorrect. The answer is no, even if you're using OS X Lion. (You don't mention what version of OS X or Pages you use.)
OS X Lion and Pages 4.1 autosave documents, even unsaved documents. But if you close an unsaved document, click the Don't Save button, then this document no longer exists.
Earlier versions of OS X and Pages do not autosave documents. So closing an unsaved document effectively deletes it.

umm. i hope you are aware of the fact that when you enter your password in Solaris you won't see any evidence of it until you press "enter".. hence, there are no "*" or similar which indicates that you are typing your password...

On the page where you enter username and password after entering and pressing "Log in" the page just stays in place. If you look at the error log you see

I can't get past a log in screen on a 10.4.11 iMac. Help!

We have a number of new staff members at our school. one of them wants to use a 10.4.11 imac that is connected to a Promethean board. The computer has a generic login screen that no one knows the verification information for. I created the new user in our 10.4.11 file server, then tried his login ID on the computer; it was rejected. Awhile back in an Apple discussion forum, I learned a hack for getting past initial login screens on imacs if the administrative ID password is forgotten. That always works, but DIDN'T this time. I am at a loss what to do now, other than reinstalling the operating system on the 10.4.11 imac workstation. Any suggestions? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

Adobe Acrobat won't install, can't get past "reader installer" "retreiving install"

I'm unable to open PDF files on my computer and cannot install Acrobat Reader
1--Click the "download now" button for: Adobe Reader X (10.1.0) (37.86 MB)
2--Click the "save file" button
3--Click the "Adobe Reader Installer"
4--On computer "Retrieving Install................0%" pops up and this is where the process ceases.
5--Nothing happens
6--FIREFOX HELP saves the day

Please note that you can activate Acrobat subscription on maximum two computers using your Adobe ID credentials.
In order to install and activate Acrobat on the second machine, you must first deactivate it on the first machine using the Help menu.
You might get User Account Control prompt after selecting 'Privilege Level' option under Compatibility tab of Acrobat properties.
Please check for the same and let me know.

AMS 5.0 on Amazon: Fresh install can't get past admin console login

I created a fresh Adobe Media Server 5.0 instance on Amazon EC2 AWS and followed all instructions in this document:

- I added the admin user to ams.ini
- created a user password using ./amsadmin -console -user <username>
- opened all necesarry ports.
- tested port 1111 using telnet successfully
However I still can't login.
I did the ping test using:
<ipaddress>:1111/admin/ping?auser=username&apswd=password
when using an invalid username/password this returns:
<result><level>error</level><code>NetConnection.Connect.Rejected</code><description>Admin user requires valid username and password.</description><timestamp>Sun Nov 18 15:02:59 2012</timestamp></result>
but with a valid username/password combination it just redirects the page endlessly until the browser stops.
Is there anybody out there who can give me a hint?

Little strange. But just want to be clear - you tried http command and with valid username/password you are not able to run "ping" http command - right? Can you juct check your Admin Server configuration and restart Admin server once and see if it helps. Also do you see any errors in logs - say master, admin logs?

Can't get past home page of instructables after upgrading to firefox 13

I can load the home page, but if i click on anything past it, it acts like it continually loads, nothing comes up on the page, it sticks at "Transferring data from www.instructables.com..." or "Read www.instructables.com" it seems to only have happened after upgrading to firefox 13. I have an old version of firefox aurora that came with the tor browser suite and tried instructables on there. worked perfect, and i was going to instructables on a regular basis before the update, so it's gotta be from the update right? what can i do to fix it?
P.S. It's not just the specific URL under "URL of affected site" because none of the pages will load after the home page.

did that solve the issue? i still believe it has more likely to do something with faulty cache (maybe the restart of the browser really triggered it );
if it was an issue with dns prefetching it would be rather strage since you already were on the domain instructables.com & wouldn't have had to resolve the domain for the subsites again. and since the server, your isp or your local hardware might not support ipv6 fully yet, it can always cause some glitches too...

Make sure you don't forget about Rosetta.
And you meet Mountain Lion Apple hardware requirements, and backup your data to at least two separate places, making sure neither is connected to the machine when the update is installed, and check that all your drivers are compatible as well. Only upgrade to Mavericks if there is software you need Mavericks for. Otherwise stay put until everything is up to date.

How do I skip upgrading itunes? I used to have an option, now I can't get past the upgrade for free screen!

I have been trying to access the itunes store for a week now but can not get past the screen to upgrade for free. I have an iMac G5 with a pre-Intel processor. My current OS is 10.4.1. When I open my iTunes store function, I get an upgrade to iTunes 10.5 page that does not allow me the opportunity to refuse the recommended upgrade and I don't want it because my processor is not the Intel processor. I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode. Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed. I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.
