trying to install CS 5.5 can't find install.app on "root drive" of DVD. When I double click on icon it just shows all the languages and documentation, but nothing else - on a mac.

What Mac? What version of OSX? You need to be more specific. Also make sure you actually have a Mac DVD...

I installed Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium on my borthers Mac and i want to put it on the Windows computer I just bought. It wont let me because it says the serial number is invalid. How do I fix this?

Standalone retail packages are platform specific.You simply can't use a Mac serial on Windows and vice versa.You will have to run a platform swap.

I have several troubles with my I-mac 27"- the computerstore will make empty the mac and re-install him. Is it possible that I re-install the adobe creative suite 5.5 standard (upgrade nr 1408 0727 4415 ; end user id. 21756517) on my mac when I have the computer back from the shop?
In a few months I intend to buy a new Mac. Is it possbile at that moment to re-install on the new mac the adobe program I mentionned before ?

You should deactivate the software before they empty it. OPen any one of the programs in CS5.5 and choose Help -> Deactivate. That will free up the activation used by that machine. You should be able to install it again on that machine and a new one too.
You are allowed to have two machines with activated installations, so when you get a new machine you can also install it on that machine and have both available in case you need a backup.

You have a disk drive on your MacBook Pro. You may not have a DVD or CD drive.

A single user license only provides for having two activated installations. If you want a third activated installation you will have to purchase another license.
You can install on as many machines as you like, but the activations of those are limited to two per license. You could activate/deactivate as needed, but I do not know if you end up reaching a limit for that as well. I know there used to be a limit on the number of times you could activate.

Try uninstall all Adobe software from the PC before installing CS 5.5, then reinstall them back again after you installed CS 5.5.

A customer service rep gave me a link to download off the Adobe site, but when I try to open the file to run it, I get this error message - "A problem occurred extracting the archive".

Yep. Nothing happens at all. Windows tries to execute the uninstaller, but I don't get any other screen and all activity stops for the MSI. I monitored it in Process Monitor and the MSI executable appears, but is quickly ended, like it couldn't find anything or something.
It's as if windows has a blank entry in Programs and Features, because it used to show the size of the Adobe application in the "Size" column. Now it's just blank. Link to screenshot below:

Note the install date. That's when I was able to successfully reinstall it. Now I can't even do that. I should also mention I tried Revo Uninstaller. It deleted one small registry key, but nothing changed.
By the way, is the CS cleaner supposed to ask for a disc in the drive when you run it? It refused to run unless I had one in it, so I used my install dvd.

make sure you're using the adobe cleaner, not crap cleaner, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
copy the installation files to a desktop folder and install from there.

Unfortunately that option is not possible.
You cannot upgrade a Creative Suite to a standalone product.
Creative Suites can only be upgrades to other Creative Suites.
You'll need to return Photoshop CS6 upgrade since you cannot use it.
Return, cancel, or exchange an Adobe order
Some options:
Buy a Creative Suite upgrade, or
Buy a full new copy of Photoshop CS6, or
Join the Cloud

I can't install Creative Suite 5.5 on a PC running Windows 7. Have tried twice but keep getting "Your installation encountered errors". The most recent time shows 2 error messages:

ERROR: DW013: Cannot initialize payload session
Any suggestions?

OK, I figured out how to get the install log - on my latest (3rd) attempt to install (and between each time powering down and back on again before trying to install again), I got the same 2 errors messages as indicated in my original post. The Install Log is as follows:

Im trying to install Creative suite 4 production premium.......

Im trying to install Creative suite 4 production premium and i can only get as far as entering the serial number, it accepts that i press next and then the 'upgrade check' screen comes up
It asks me to select a product i already own and enter a serial number , i have no product that i already own and this is not an upgrade version i am trying to install
can someone please help it wont let me continue unless i try and install a trial version

Uninstall each and any piece of Adobe software you may have on the system then run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and tafter that try again.

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like exact versions. Other than that it pretty much means what it says - older versions simply won't run on contemporary Macs.
