Until java is easier to install, it will remain out of reach for the masses.

  • Installing Java Problems

I am quite new with my Nokia 6300 I have lost the CD Rom that comes with the phone. Can I still install Java without it? and if so how?

    Hi,
Your phone is S40 phone, then it's really easy for you to install Java apps (almost compatible with S40 phones). To install a Java app into your phone, there mostly 2 common ways:
1> Surfing the Web on your phone, download any desired Java app (.jar or .jad format) and install right away on your phone
2> If you have some Java apps stored in PC and want to send to mobile phone, well, i suggest u to visit website nokia at www.nokia-asia.com/pcsuite to download Nokia PC Suite and install it into the computer (notes: click enable flash to view the flash content on the page, select the right model and take into consideration the system requirement when downloading PC Suite)
+ Install PC Suite into PC
+ Double click to open Nokia PC Suite, connect the phone to PC via compatible cable (i guess DKE-2)
+ Once successful connected, select Application Installer icon in PC Suite to transfer Java apps into your phone. Believe me, it's simple, just follow the instruction given by Application Installer and you'll get the apps on your phone for sure.
    Hope it helps

  • Applet auto-install java problem

    Hi
We have a widely deployed applet, that uses html generated by html generator tool from sun, to cause auto-install of java for people who don't have it ... This was working fine till a few days ago people started getting errors like the following, when loading the applet html page:
"A window pops up and says the server has not found anything matching the requested URI. When I close this window a second window pops up saying unable to download http:java.sun.com/update/1.4.2/1.4.2_01-b.05xml for installation
My guess is this may be related to the launch of the java install via java.com and that somehow the old links are broken ...
I did a search for the url referenced above and don't find it mentioned ... I assume 1.4.2_01-b.05 has been superseded, but I don't know where this link is coming from
Doesn't seem that there is a new html generator tool available, the latest one generates html that is identical to what we are using (in terms of cab file references, etc)
Any help on this most appreciated ... or info on who I should contact to resolve this
    Thanks
    Jim

  • Tried to install Java 1.6 on my MBP - cant - says need 64 bit Mac

ok so my MBP Core Duo is 32 bit ? How would I determine that from System Profiler ? How does one tell the difference between 32 bit native / capable and native 64 bit ?

Looks like you actually installed an older version of Java 7. Try this link instead: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
The JRE is what you'll see in Java preferences. The JDK is what you'll see in terminal. Install both if you need it in both places.

    Hi,
This is a problem with your DNS settings (or lack of), not with Sun Java System Application Server/Access Manager.
You will need to setup DNS before installing.

  • Can't get rid of Microsoft VM when trying to instal Sun's Java

In the last couple of days, we have tried to troubleshoot two users (Win 98 and Win 2000) over the phone who were trying to install Java from the Get It Now link on the java.com website, yet no matter what, the Microsoft VM is still being used! We have tried the manual download as well, and have also had the users go into their IE's Internet Options and scroll down the Advanced tab to uncheck the JIT item in the Microsoft VM section, but that doesn't seem to work (whenever they go to Sun's page for testing your JVM, it still says they're using the old Microsoft VM). I found a website for removing the Microsoft VM on Windows XP, but nothing for earlier versions of Windows. Besides, shouldn't this work? We have thousands of users who have successfully installed Java on Windows and to use with IE, so why the problem all of a sudden?
I've also tried submitting for help on the contact page on the java.com website, but none of the few times I've submitted there in the past few months have I received any help. I know Sun might be laying people off like crazy, but does that mean no one is manning the fort?

I think all system requirements are respected!
I have installed the package but when I try to execute "java", using "./java", it state that the file is not found, which typically means (when the file exists :D), that it is not compiled for the system in question. So, I have compiled a simple helloworld in C and compile it, to compare the output of the file command, between my program and the "java" executable:
    * a.out: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, version 1 (ARM), for GNU/Linux 2.6.12, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.12, not stripped
         * java: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.14, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.14, not stripped
The only two differences are "version 1 (ARM)" or "version 1 (SYSV) - can it be the EABI? - and Kernel version 2.6.12 to 2.6.14.
Can someone help me understand what is the problem and if it can be solved by modifying my system (but not the kernel version)?.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    forgot to state libc6 version = 2.7-18;
    and gcc version = 4.4.3
    thanks!

I was trying to install Java Studio Creato 2 but due to some reason i had to manuaaly "end task" the installation. It was installing Sun java server 8 at that time.

I tried deleting the temporary files butthta didnt helped
    please help me install it
    thank you

There is also the \windows\system*\productregistry file that might prevent a new installation. I don't know when it's created during the installation but you might want to look if you have one and rename/delete it.
