Trying to install JRE 7u7
Hello,
I'm trying to install JRE 7u7 x64 and am having a few problems.
I can run the installer and its fine until it begins to install. Then an error message appears saying:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
It is referring to "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk 1.7.0_02\\", which doesn't exist on my computer.
It then comes up with Error 1714:
"The older version of Java 7 Update 7 cannot be removed."
The installer then quits.
Because of this I cannot run any .jar files at the moment.
Is there any way I can fix this and install a working JRE?
I've successfully installed the JDK 7u7 x64 and u2 previously.
I had JRE which worked OK before this but it suddenly stopped. I'm afraid I'm not sure whether it was 7u2 or version 6.
Thanks for any help.
Hi Varun,
I am using Safari.
I go to the Adobe web site, then download the latest Flash Player for Mac/Safari.
The file below appears in my Download File.
I am then unable to open the download and proceed. I get no error message.
Thanks,
Steve

16 bit MS-DOS NTVDM illegal instruction when Webstart tries to install JRE
Hi
When I configure a JNLP to download a JRE (if necessary) using the following line,
<j2se version="1.4.2_01" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se"/>
it downloads a JRE but then fails while trying to install it, in a couple of ways.
The first problem I get is a warning that the applications digital signature has an error. It has expired. It expired on the first of May this year at 1am. Ignoring that I press <Run> and proceed with the installation.
Now the big error, a windows dialog box (I'm using NT here, and it happens on other similar machines in the institution as far as I can tell):
Title: 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
Body: C:\DOCUME~1\<profilename>\APPLICA~1\Sun\Java\DEPLOY~1\cache\6.0\ext\E12499~1\J2RE-1~1.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
C5:085b IP:01df OP:63 6f 72 61 74 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
<Close> <Ignore>
Even if I choose "Ignore" the result is a broken/partial install of the JRE, with the only directories being j2re1.4.2._10 containing a file called dp14210.vbs and a bin directory. In the bin directory there is only a subdirectory called server, and in server there are two files, Xusage.txt and jvm.dll.
Note that I have not mis-typed the name of the directory above: although the jnlp requests jre1.4.2_01 the directory that is created is for jre1.4.2_10.
I have tried this for various other JREs including 1.6.0_01 and 1.5.0_12 and I get the same problem with the out-of-date certificate and the 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem illegal instruction.
The name of the file that gets executed after I click "Run" depends on the version of the JRE I am trying to install and follows a naming convention. In the case of the 1.5.0_12 jre the file name is "jre-1_5_0_12-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe" and in the case of the 1.4.2_01 it is "j2re-1_4_2_01-windows-i586-iftw.exe"
Any help appreciated, thanks,
Anthony HollandI'm positive JRE 5 can't be installed on NT. According to this 1.4.2 neither (I thought it could, all I knew about was this ). Maybe you could try giving a look at jnlp specs to see if any particular 'os' attribute can 'work' to auto-install on NT, but I think you're facing a dead end.
Bye.
PS: did you try downloading the exe and installing it via prompt? If that fails too, I guess you can call it off.
PPS: you can install [1.4.1_07|http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.1_07/jre/install-windows.html] (if it's enough for your purpose). -
Java WS tries to install JRE 1.5.0_02
I specified jre 1.4.1+ in the jnlp file. When I start the app with java ws 1.2 and jre 1.4.1 before launching my ap, it asks for permission to install JRE 1.5.0_02. Is this ok? Will it always want to download the latest jre if there is a newer version?
Will that installation succeed in a non administrator account in windows? If it dosn't have any installed jre that matches the specification, it will try to download the latest available that matches.
In you case you specified "1.4.1+"
if you did this without using the href parameter, then it is a java specification version, which can only be 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, or 1.6 - so only 1.5 or later would match. if you wanted it to use the sun 1.4.1 or later, use the hrevfas follows:
<j2se href="1.4.1+" href="http://java.sun.com/j2se/autodl"/>

Help Installing JRE, Locked Folder?
I am trying to install JRE on a brand new computer I just built. It has WinXP SP2 Media Center Edition installed as the OS. I am using Firefox for a browser... Everytime I go to install, web based and locally from the downloaded installer I get the same error message everytime at the end of the installation.
JRE could not be installed in to the folder because it is locked. Please unlock the folder or close the application that is using it.
I've tried everything I can think of, I can't think of any apps that I have running that would be causing a conflict... esspecially since I have tried my own install paths on different drives. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks! This search appears to suggest that there's a problem with the .dll's in your machine. You might try doing a check of the system files.

Error installing jre 1.4.0_01
I have installed and installed the sdk and jre version 1.4.0_01. To cleanup my environment I uninstalled all of my java products and began re-installing them. When I tried to install jre 1.4.0_01 (this is the first product that I tried to re-install) I get a message from the installer
"You already have the Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.0_01 already installed on this machine...."
I have went thru the registry and deleted any reference to java 1.4.0_01. Any help would be great.
Thanks.Yep, i had installed the JDK, but when I found out that the plug-in app was not operating properly in the control panel, I figured something had gone wrong. I uninstalled everything and tried installing just the JRE, when I noticed this error.
I used Iolo's system mechanic to try and clean the registry and run all kinds of analysis and cleaners on my system.
No dice, still have that problem.
I believe I may blow away windows and move to a Linux desktop -

What do I need to do to fix this? Not to mention that I couldn't find any such Troubleshooting section.

Installing JRE 1.4 while JRE 1.5 has been installed.
We have developed an application that uses JRE 1.4. Initially it can be launched from Internet Explorer using Java Web Start, and it directs you to download JRE 1.4 if it does not already installed in the server. We have already JRE 1.5 installed in the server, and when we start our application, it points us to a URL and it downloads and installs JRE 1.4 in the server. The problem is that if we start our application using Internet Explorer, it does not recognize JRE 1.4 installation, and it again points us to the same URL to download and install JRE 1.4. When we check the server, we see that it is installed properly. We dont see this problem if we use Netscape or Firefox browser. This problem is also valid if you already have JRE 1.4 and trying to install JRE 1.3. Has anyone encountered with this problem before? If so, how you have fixed it? Many Thanks
I think your jre 1.4 is not enabled in java web start. open File->Preference window in java web start. go to java tab. Check the jre is enabled or not.

pls send the solution ASAP to my email id - ([email protected])Make sure you have IBM's Java 1.1.8 JRE/JDK installed on your server and $JAVA_HOME set. Check the Oracle installation instructions. One other problem with Red Hat 7.0. is that
there is a libc library incompatibility problem with Red Hat linux 7.0 and Oracle 8i. The database will not start after you install it. Go to MetaLink (if you have support) and search for document # 121176.1. Basically, you have to download an older version of glibc, modify your Oracle link environment files, re-link the database executables and all will work normally. I did it on my Red Hat Linux 7.0 server two weeks ago and everything is working fine. Only other alternative is downgrade to Red Hat 6.2. -

requires the glibc 2.1 compatibility SDK, i386-glibc-2.1-linux.tar.gz,
to install under systems based on glibc 2.2, like RedHat 7.0.

Are you still having problem..with this..let me know??
first of all 8.1.7 , or 8.1.6. 8.1.5 neither one of these are certified to work with linux 7.0 Redhat.
Secondly there is a work around you could try..assuming that you have set the enviroment varaible and JVM corrent..( let me know if you need help with this)
here u go...
There is this linux gnu lib file which oracle is looking for which was there in 6.x and not in 7.0.
However if you have upgraded from 6.X linux to 7.0 then it will work..
for some reason it is looking for this glibc file.
either way the oracle message it is giving is not relavant...
it is just not going to work...unless you find a way to implement that glibc file..
I had link..which talk about the work around..

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
The procedure for RedHat 7.0 is not officially approved by Oracle. If you are putting a mchine into production, I would strongly recommend sticking with RedHat 6.2 instead (and patching the security holes in it). There are other problems with RedHat 7.0 that extend beyond Oracle. Personally, I'm waiting for 7.1 before I think hard about migrating
hope this help...

Edited by: user3033086 on 16/03/2009 16:16Hi,
What you need to do is:
cat ALUI_Interaction_MP1 | \
sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > \
ALUI_Interaction_MP1_sed
This command will get sed to create a new file that has removed the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL from it. Thus you can run the file and it shouldnt give you any errors.
Thanks. -
Hi Everyone,
I am really stuck at a point from where I do not know which route to take. I am trying to install OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5) on my Windows 7 (32-bit) laptop. I have tried all the options:
1. Simple Install
2. Enterprise Install
3. Software only install (after installing Weblogic 10.3.4.0 separately)
Everything goes well till the step Bi Configuration->Creating Domain.
In this process whenever it reaches the stage when it tries to start Node Manager, it starts getting java exceptions and fails. It typically occurs when it does not find the nodemanager.properties file and tries to save the configurations there. It then encounters a Fatal Error.

Exiting WLST will not stop the Node Manager process. Please refer

After this it hangs for a long time before finally coming up with Node Manager Server Timed Out error and finally the Creating Domain step fails.
One thing that I have noticed is that whenever it tries to create the nodemanager.properties or write to it it encounters this error and hence the nodemanager.properties file is also not getting generated.
I have ensured that there are no spaces in the TEMP and TMP paths. I even tried creating and putting the nodemanager.properties file in the location but that too does not work.
Strange part is that when I install Weblogic separately and have nodemanager as a windows service, then with the nodemanager.properties that I created the windows service runs, but the OBIEE installation still fails.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
SubhoMy problem is "creating domain is failed". I guess that the issue with windows 7 32 bits on laptop doesn't configure and run nodemanager. I tried to start nodemanager but don't work (with weblogic scriptinf tools WST). However, Weblogic run ok but nodemanager is inactive. Also it doesn't create nodemanager.propierties. If I create a file nodemanager.properties (or I copied on directory obiee_home\ws_server_10.3\common\nodemanager) obiee installer configures its parameters pre-configured (if I modify a parameter, the installer modify it a default value and I don't know where is these parameters and its definition).
I have installed obiee simple and enterprise and it don't work. I have installed on oracle 11g R2 (desktop and enterprise with datawarehouse) and obiee installer doesn't work. Further this installation obiee delay an hour and then generates error in my case "creating domain is failed".
I'm going try to run install obiee 11.1.1.5 on windows 7 xp mode.
Important: We need help of oracle experts or Oracle communicates if obiee installs or not on windows 7 32 bits laptop because We have wasted

Error while trying to install Oracle 8.15 on Redhat 6.1
I have been trying to install Oracle 8i (8.15) on my machine but I got an error while trying to run runInstaller:
Initializing java virtual machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre. Please wait
Error in CreateOUIProcess(): -1
: Bad Address
FYI:
- I downloaded the Oracle 8i from the technet download site (I am not using a CD)
- I am using Redhat 6.1
- I downloaded and installed JRE as advised in the documentation.
- My machine is a AMD K6, so is non-intel but I have not noticed any other problems using Redhat.
- I currently only have 96MB RAM as opposed to the recommended 128MB.
Please Help!!!

If u are only using one linux machine, then I don't think you need to have 'DISPLAY' defined. Unset it then. This variable tells X clients where to display its X output. If unsetting does not make it work, then try 'export DISPLAY=ip_address:0.0' and then 'xhost +ip_address', where ip_address is the IP of your machine, or try 127.0.0.1.
If u have two linux machines, like what I did:
* Ran X on client machine (192.168.0.2).
* Telnet to server machine (192.168.0.1 - where 8i will be installed), login as 'oracle'
* On the telnet session, I 'su' as root then mounted the CD, then 'exit' to return to the 'oracle' login on the telnet session.
* On the telnet session, I did 'export DISPLAY=192.168.0.2:0.0' - telling it that all X clients on this telnet session will send its X output to the host on 192.168.0.1.
* On the client machine (where X is running), opened another shell, did a 'xhost +192.168.0.1' - telling the X server on the client machine to accept X connections from the server machine (192.168.0.1).
* Went back to the telnet session to the server machine, then ran the installer.
In short, everything you do can be done remotely, apart from putting the CD on the server machine.
The installer runs on the server but send its output to the client.

What's the point on using KF in addition when loading datastore objects?
Hi all, i'd like to know why sometimes KFs are uploaded in addition even when loading a dso. I mean, when KF are all in overwrite it's easier to do a full repair request if something goes wrong or you are loading a new field in BW, so why some KFs ar
