Trying to install Muse, which brought up installing Adobe Air problems

Question

Cant uninstall earlier version.   1.1.0.5790
Get this error trying to uninstall:
"An error occurred while uninstalling Adobe AIR.  Uninstallation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
Get this error trying to install the latest version of Air:
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator.
This is my personal computer, I am the Adminstrator.  There are no Guests or other Users.

Trying to install AIR on Mac 10.6.8 and get the same
"An error occurred while uninstalling Adobe AIR.  Uninstallation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
Looked at others solutions and tried downloading through Firefox, finding the Frameworks folder of AIR to delete it but those didn't work. Tried many other solutions that haven't worked.
