Trying to Launch Mail icon from toolbar on iMAC/appears to be stuck??

I click on my mail icon at the bottom of my iMac screen [the icon with the eagle]. The inbox opens and in parantheses next to Inbox it says "0 messages". Well, this is incorrect. Additionally, I can't do anything in my mail account from here because the cursor changes to the rainbow circle as though it is trying to perform an operation. Problem is, it never quits. It just hangs in this mode forever. I had to force shutdown today -- don't know what may have changed that would be causing this??? Please help me find my mail.

I am running Mail 2.0.5 and OSX 10.4.3 [NOT 10.4 as originally stated].

Possibly relevant: A few weeks ago, my Yahoo account was used to send spam. (Yes, I changed the password). I check that account on both my Mac at home and my PC at work and ran a virus check at work (it didn't find anything).
After that, I've come home from work to discover that something is trying to launch Mail on my Mac. I don't use Mail, so it just gets stuck at the setup screen and bounces on my toolbar all day long, but I'm wondering what is doing this.
Is this related to the spam, or just a coincidence? If it is related to the spam, how do I fix it? If it's not related to the spam, how do I stop it?

What else is running at the time? Try quitting other programs before you go to work and see what happens. Open Activity Monitor and make sure the pop-up at the top of the window reads "My Processes", then compare to the list below (default items running on my machine with third-party processes removed, sorted by name). Is there anything on your list that isn't on this one?

How can I get a mail icon on toolbar that will take me to "Mail"?

Just downloaded version 3.6.11 and noticed that my mail icon on toolbar is no longer. Used to click the icon to get to my mail program (which is Mac's "mail") while running Firefox. How can I get the icon back on the toolbar (have already set preferences for "mail"?

You need to keep in mind that Gmail works differently than how Outlook works. Gmail is web mail that is accessed through a web browser, where Outlook is a locally installed email program that communicates directly with an email server.

Is there a way to stop the mail icon from bouncing

Mail Icon from STart menu has wrong user info

we set up the new 400 pavilion slimline pc, and see an incorrect user name in the start menu. first question is how to change that. next, when we click on the Mail icon, a different user name appears (what appears is username and password request info that was sent from my work pc to this home pc as a means of testing and practise for the homeowner to access mail) it's like the home pc took over my work username info and installed it in the Mail icon set up!
in sum, how can we change what first appears as an incorrect user name, and set up the correct user name on the Mail icon prompt. the home owner can access and get mail, so that works fine but we added the comcast account link into 'favorites' folder as a means to connect into her mail. we naturally want to make this easier by just selecting the Mail icon off the Start menu. thanks! tc17

If you're talking about the icon for the default Mail app that is part of iOS, it can't be deleted. She might have moved it somewhere, but the app can't be removed from the iOS device the way some third-party or optional Apple app can be removed.
Look carefully through all the home screens and folders. It's in there somewhere. If you really, really can't find it, try restarting the phone. If that doesn't work, perform a factory restore operation by connecting it to your computer running iTunes.

I cannot open e-mail icon from my dock

I used to be able to open the e-mail icon on my dock. The icon is still there, just can't open it.

Click Launchpad in the Dock to launch it.

TRYING TO LAUNCH BEx ANALYZER FROM R3 SYSTEM, WITHOUT LOGIN AGAIN...

We are trying to launch BEx Analyzer, with a Program/Function from R3 System, using an RFC.
1.- We create a program in R3 system (4.6c), in that program we try to call BW (SAP BI 7.0, SP18), with:
        - CALL FUNCTION 'RSAH_LAUNCH_TRANSACTION_SLAVE'
          DESTINATION **RFC TO BW**
         EXPORTING
        TRANSACTION                  = 'RRMX'
or
       - CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_CALL_TRANSACTION_USING'
          DESTINATION **RFC TO BW**
             EXPORTING
               tcode                         = 'RRMX'
               mode                          = 'N'
With that, or calling an Z transaction, with an Z program, and calling the next functions in the BW program:
         'RSSEM_QUERY_LAUNCH'
         'RSAH_LAUNCH_EXCEL'
         With o without setting Infoprovider and Query or Workbook in the functions.
The result was the same:
1.- R3 call BW - OK
2.- BW call BEx ANALYZER/EXCEL - OK
3.- Analyzer shows, but the user have to login again in BEx Analyzer to open queries or workbooks, and that step we are trying to hide to the users.
We need that users call BEx ANALYZER from R3 to BW using an R3 program or transaction, without login again into BW or BEx, but it seems like there is a problem with ANALYZER, RRMX (and its functions) and SSO.
RFC works fine, and is "trusted". Remote connection and Test Connection works OK.
If you make a REMOTE ACCCES with the RFC, and call RRMX, the result is the same, you have to login again in BEx Analyzer, to open queries or workbooks...
We think, must be something wrong with the SSO, or the SSO with BWE and BEx Analyzer, i mean something wrong with the standar or versions.
We tryied with:
1.- BIAddon 9 in Excel 2007
2.- BIAddon 6 in Excel 2003.
We really appreciate your help.

what is best way to remove icons from tool bar?

On any mac application you should be able to right click (or control-click) on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar... This will enable you to drag icons off the toolbar or onto the toolbar.
If you are referring to the Menu bar icons (in the upper right of the screen) then just press Command and then click and drag the icons off the menu bar to remove them.

I've trashed my mail icon from my applications, but now I have em pted my trash ptyed my trash ! can I get it back ??

I am still learning how to use my mac and I have put my mail apps into the trash! but when I went back to my mac I forgot

When i click mail icon,my mailbox does not appear.any way to fix?

it was working fine then was asked if i wanted to sync my email adress to ical, icalender etc which i did. previosly i had an itunes software update and did a restart. now the computer is up and running i cant get my mailbox to open when i click on the mail icon like it usualluy does. the only way to get into my mailbox is to click on the mailbox header at the top and click on 'go to favourite mailbow'. Any way to fix this please?

HT5361 Is it possible to eliminate the upper right notification Banner from Mail without removing the Mail icon from the lower bar?

Every time I get an email, that darned notification banner pops up in the upper right corner. I don't want to eliminate Mail from my dock, because it's handy, but is there a way to simply stop that annoying Banner in the upper right corner?

I suspect it's to do with IOS7 but not everyone is affected, mine was working before. I have read on some forums that Apple have just replaced the iPad as they have not been able to resolve the issue. If yours is new I would take it back and ask to try another with IOS7 installed before swapping.

one more thing what is the version of your Quick VPN?
In my case I can connect fine with no problems. How about your MTU since you are able to connect, have you tried adjusting it? Try using 1200 or 1300.
