Trying to link Apple ID with CloudiD -- no backup!?

Hello Guys,
Unfortunately I deleted a note from my "Notes" app and tried to find the missing note via iCloud. Since I know that my iphone backs up to the iCloud on a daily basis, I decided to try and restore my last notes from the last backup. The "iCloud Backup" is green (activated) on my iphone and it says "Last Backup: 00:20 yesterday". ICloud settings are also all green (Mail, Contacts, Calenders, Reminders, Safari, Notes, Find My iPhone, etc.) but at the top of my iphone it mentions under "ICLOUD Account" one of my ITunes usernames, not the iCloud account - is that correct?
When logging into my iCloud account on my PC, the notes, emails and everything are empty - appart from the contacts.
- Must the Apple ID coinsist with a precise iCloud account, or must the iCloud login belong to a specific AppleID thats loaded on the iphone o/s for the backup to work?
- And does iCloud backup the iphone data only via email? Because the email account (=itunes account) that is connected to icloud currently does not fetch any emails on the server due to incorrect email settings. So if the "Notes" data is transmitted via Email and not via the ICloud account itself via Wifi, then could that also be the cause of my problem?
I guess the note i accendentally deleted is therefore gone forever now, since the backups seem to work although there was no error message that came up on my iphone! I just hope that the missing note wasnt anything too important.
Thanks for any reply if you are familiar with this complex problem only - or sure about certain ways that this icloud backup functions.

p.s. I tried to find the "Notes" app in iTunes, but impossible to find (with or without the iphone attached via usb). Could you also tell me how to find the "Notes" app in itunes to at least try and open a previous backup of Notes and then see if I can find the missing note that way via iTunes?

I dont remember which of my Apple ID's is linked to this registered "@icloud.com" email address... is there a way to find this out?
What do you mean what I see on iCloud is the original data. I dont see anything under iCloud.com like I mentioned in my first post, thats the whole problem....Notes, Emails etc. appart from contacts are all empty!
Please precise what you mean by not confuse the iCloud data with an iCloud backup.... why should these be different?
I only want to see the last NOTES backup which I cannot access.

Are you trying to restore a backup, or just sync some apps? Do you have profiles installed on the device?
Have you plugged the ipad into iTunes, and did a fresh install? I'm assuming the device went through the prepare setup properly. You many have to unsupervise it first, then plug it into iTunes to wipe it completely.
I'd then do each step seperately. Prepare it, then install 1 app, if that works, try another app, then maybe a profile.

Trying to link my email with a iPhone 5c

I'm trying to link my Tiscali email account with my mail app on my iPhone 5c. I input all the correct details and as i press save it pops up saying 'Cannot connect using SSL' 'Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?'
If i press No then it goes back to the setting up account page.
If i press Yes then it saves the account and i recieve my emails. But it wont let me send any emails it just pops up saying 'Unable to send Email' 'A copy has been placed in your outbox. The sender address '[email protected]' was rejected by the server.'
Also a pop error message comes up on the odd occasion to. I've tried setting up this email on my iphone a few times now and ever time its failed.
Why is this happening?
I created the tiscali account ages ago before tiscali changed to TalkTalk. I have to go on the talktalk website to access my emails.

you solved the initial problem by turning off SSL. The second problem is that you missed some detail in the outgoing server set up. Google "tiscali e mail set up" to get a fresh copy of the specific e mail parameters , and try again. Pay particular attentioon to the outgoing server name, and port. If it asks again for your name and password - do it - even if it says optional.
Some services are screwy enough that they have a wizard for installing on mobile devices. I dont know if tiscaki does, but check their website.

Remotes don't sync. They pair with your BlueTooth.

Trying to link my Kobo with ADE and my Macbook

I just downloaded ADE to my Macbook (version 10.5).
I was able to authorize my computer and my Kobo, but my kobo doesn't show up on ADE anymore.
When it was linked was only reading the kobo info, not the book I had purchased.
Cannot figure out how to transfer from Kobo to ADE and vice versa.
I have tried dragging, etc. Read the "help" section, doesn't help!
Also, I have saved articles in Instapaper that I want to transfer to my Kobo.
Cannot figure this one out at all!!
I can get them on to "reading view" but then they disappear.
Would love to figure all this out!!

HT202213 home sharing does not appear in my library but it is turned on and I am trying to link Apple TV. How do I make this work?

Any help is appreciated. I'd hate to have to return Apple TV because I can't get it to sync and be forced to use iTunes Match. The Apple ID's are the same and the internet connection works.

Trying to link existing mac pro time machine backup to cloned startup drive

I have recently had to replace my startup drive on my Mac Pro as it was failing. I used SuperDuper! for this, and the clone is working fine as my new startup drive. I then went to run my next time machine backup (i backup to a time capsule), and time machine connected to the existing backup but wanted to backup everything as if backing up for the first time.
So i did a bit of researching around, and found this hint:

which changes the UUID registered with time machine, from the old drive to the new drive, so that it thinks that it's the old drive and carries on where it left off. i followed the instructions in the hint carefully and everything seemed to go right (i had to copy fsaclctl from an old leopard backup as it is missing in snow leopard). but when i ran the next backup again time machine wanted to backup everything.
towards the bottom of the hint, there is a comment about the UUID generated under snow leopard, as follows:
"I'm concerned that the output of xattr showed 37 hex pairs, not the 32 hex digits and dashes. By the looks -- I've forgotten all my ASCII -- it is a hex representation of the actual hex UUID (43 41 ...) and its dashes (2D), terminated with 00. That's arguably the same as the UUID, but not quite close enough to give me the warm & fuzzies"
So if anyone can help me get this working right, using the method described in the hint, or some other method, i would be very grateful. Seems like my scenario isn't that uncommon (changing a startup drive), and it baffles me that there isn't a more straightforward way to make this work.

That's correct. Time Machine backups retain the original ownership and permissions. So one user doesn't have access to another user's data. Usually, that's a good thing.

How to connect apple TV with 2 Macs?

I have connected/linked Apple TV with the iTunes library from my iMac (wireless). ..... Now, I have also downloaded some movies from iTunes on my MacBook. So I connected the MacBook (wireless) with Apple TV, but when I open Apple TV in iTunes on the MacBook I just get the choice of two tabs: +information and photos+. How can I move the movies?
I think it has something to do with streaming, but I don't know how to get there.

At the bottom of Movies on AppleTV, do you see My Shared Movies - these new ones will probably be seen there as a second computer will be streaming only and it's content is selectable under My Shared.
The top library in Settings>Computers is the sync/stream library, any below are streaming only and cannot transfer stuff to AppleTV only stream it live when the computer and itunes are running.
Assuming both computers use the same account on iTunes, you could copy the movies from the Macbook (Show in Finder - copy the files do not move them or iTunes gets confused - if you want to delete do it from within iTunes) and add them to the iMac library.

In effect this is a DNS block.
You can do it.
You need to be in an Admin Mac User Account that has non blank password.
Go to the Applications/Utilities folder and open Terminal.
You should see your shortname (the one under the Little House icon) followed by the $ symbol
Copy and paste the bold text below into Terminal after the $ symbol.
sudo pico /etc/hosts
This will load the file "hosts" into and editor that works in Terminal.
Use the arrow keys to get to the line with Verisign in it.
Now type the # symbol and it will be added in front of the character that is highlighted.
The # symbol is either Shift +3 or ALT+ 3 depending on your keyboard layout
Now use CTRL and O keys together.
This Saves the changes.
Quit Terminal.

You could be right that the response to clicking on help is a symptom of an entirely separate issue, but nevertheless the secure link to itunes is definitely failed, and I am unable to log into Itunes on either PC.
I also noticed that even if I click on the link to create a whole new Apple ID, I cannot do that either, presumably because the secure link is not working.
After I noticed that there were weird things happening this morning, I did change my Apple ID password in the hope that this might resolve it, but it seemed to make it worse. Now, all of my apple devices keep constantly prompting me for the apple ID password, and randomly either accepting it, or telling me it is wrong. I know the password is correct because I can log onto the apple Manage My Apple ID screens in a web browser with it.
I was starting to think that this is an ISP issue (BT Broadband), but I have not seen anyone else posting with the same issue. Does Apple use a different security protocol to everyone else? I'm asking because all other secure services seem to be working fine, but anything related to apple that requires a secure connection or authentication is having issues.
I have also seen reference to making sure that Itunes is listed as an allowed program in Windows Firewall. I cannot seem to do this because it says that my Windows firewall is being managed by McCafee. I have checked the settings in McCafee, and it appears to me that Itunes, Bonjour, and many other apple programs have been granted "Full" access. As said before in any case I have tried temporarily disabling the firewall and even this did not solve the problem.

Actually when LR 5 starts for the first time after it is installed it will have a dialog to Buy, Try or Enter a serial number. You select Enter a serial number and enter the LR 5 serial number first and then because it is an upgrade serial number it will ask for the serial number of a Previous version. You then enter the LR 1 serial number.
