Trying to Link from CSH to Second (Custom) Window within same .CHM file

We are using RH8 on Windows XP Pro 2002, SP3, outputting CHM.
Background
Our single help source has 2 custom window definitions--one for context sensitive topics (tall and narrow, opens on right, no TOC, always on top) and the second for the main help window (shorter and wider, opens with TOC, in center). The intent is to enable the user fast access to field descriptions via the CSH, but then to link to the main help for those who want to peruse more background information. Thus our goal is to allow two help windows to be open at the same time.
In our CSH windows we are ‘writing to the box,’ and our text is brief. Our long-term design goal for the current CSH content is to create what we envision using in an embedded help pane during the next major product release. We need the CSH window to obscure only a small portion of the application real estate, hence the ‘tall narrow’ window design.
In our CSH topics, we want to add a link that when clicked opens up the separate main help using its own window definition, at a specific topic we specify on a case-by-case basis.
We have tried
First we started with a simple hyperlink, but that opens Main in the CSH window.
Next we tried HTML design time controls, but the second window opens in a browser window.
Then we tried using shortcuts, which worked well temporarily, however they lost their definitions (‘program parameters’ on shortcut tab especially) for some reason. Are there any fixes for this?
We have tried searching the RH help system and the forums but we have not a specific answer.
Can anyone help point us in the right direction to be able to meet our design goals? Are we missing something obvious or are we tilting at windmills?

Hi there
That link doesn't even work for me when I paste it into the address bar of my Firefox browser. It does work in IE, but not in Firefox. In Firefox it opens the PDF generically.
I tested in a CHM and it did try and link, but it presents a black page. Looks like the correct page, but it's blacked out.
CHM files rely upon elements of Internet Explorer to display their content. So perhaps it's something specific to a certain version of Internet Explorer as well as a certain version of the Acrobat Reader.

How to programmatically jump from one topic to another in a compiled CHM file

Hello,
I'm working with the trial version of RoboHelp 9.0, trying to evaluate it for my company before we go ahead and purchase it.
Basically I'm importing a Word document and then exporting it into a .chm file.
I'm using a programing tool to jump from one topic to another in the compiled CHM file.
The topic is displayed just fine but the content on the left side stays closed and doesn't open accordingly.
I'm not sure how to extract from the RoboHelp viewer a topic's HTML address to serve as an input for my programming tool.
I'll appreciate any idea.

say there are two infoobjects X and Y.
X is existing infoobject and Y in new one.
go to infosurce-search for X-create export datasource - map the rules and load the data.
This is one way.
Other way is u can use X as a reference object of Y so that both of them have same structure and both objects will share common database tables in BW which are exsting for X.

Open youtube video link from gmail in new tab instead of same page?

Hi came back t fox after 3 years. Yesterday after 1,2 months of using a standard action was changed. I was in my gmail clicking on youtube notification to open video in next tab.
While it was late FF asked me would I like to stay on page or leave it - I chose stay. Now when I want to open video links from gmail it opens in current tab - I failed with research on my own, hence asking community.
btw browser.link.open_newwindow is set to 1.

For a laptop user it is essential to use only pad - for me late at night I would like to open youtube link in new window, one hand wihtout ctrl key, then double click to close tab not finding that tiny x.
This reminds me that problem comes from TAB UTILITIES addon -although I think mentioned notification is built in from gmail or fox.
Currently my about:config settings
browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external
browser.newtabpage.storageVersion
are set to 1
And it works as I wanted - so far.

Link in program won't open .htm page in .chm file

Previously we were able to link to an individual topic in a RoboHelp .chm (this old copy may have been generated in RHx5 or earlier) by clicking a link in the program interface.
This is how the link was written in MS Help Server Program HH -
m_strHelpPath[0] = "mk:@MSITStore:%sSystem\\FabriTALK.chm::/Connecting_a_Control.htm";
The .chm file compliled in RH8 will not open the topic level doc. It opens the .chm file, but for some reason won't dig down to the .htm to open it the way it used to.
Is this a question of compile settings?
Any suggestions?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

Partner link from Salespro role to custom UTIL IC role

Hi Experts,
There is a requirement of adding a Partner workcenter in our custom util IC role. Idea is that user could search other BPs and view details in custom UTIL IC role.
I tried adding workcenters with logical link id as MD-BP-SR, UTL-MD-SR, SLS-MD-SR but everytime getting a dump.
Also defined the outbound plug for the component in the navigation bar profile. for example for the link UTL-MD-SR
1. Pressed F2 on screen.
2. Got the details for component as BP_HEAD_SEARCH
3. Defined the Generic outbound plug mapping as below:
    object type: BP_HEAD_SEARCH
   object action: search.
   use target id : TIUBPSR
highlighted link id : UTL-BP-SR.
Please let me know what is missing in configuration.

Proper outbound plug configuration solves the issue. Object to be used should be BP_ACCOUNT

I want to link from Acrobat to a certain place in an .mp3-file. How can I manage this?

Hello, recently I interviewed one of my kin. The result is a huge audio transkription in Word 2010 (which I converted to .pdf / Acrobat 10). Now I want people who read my audio transcription with biographical details about my father, whom I interviewed, to be able to jump to the spot in the interview record, where he says "in the year 1234 there happened blablabla", if there stands "in the year 1234 there happened, etc." in the PDF. The link shall be placed underneath the rownumbers at the left border of the document.
The problem: Until now I can only link to files like NiceAudioFile.mp3 or GreatInterview.wav or TheBestBiography.flac, but not to a certain time mark inside of it without the need to do a fast forward.
How can I manage it, that the mp3 opens up in the middle / at the end / anywhere I want it to?

Insert the audio clip as a rich media annotation using the Multimedia>Add Sound tool in Acrobat
Create your link and on the Link Action area use "custom link".
In the popup which appears, open the Actions tab and choose "Multimedia operation (Acrobat 9 and later)"
Click add, and make sure your audio file is targeted.
On the bottom of the dialog choose "Seek to time..." and enter the time in seconds you wish to play from in the blank input field at the bottom
Click OK twice to close the dialogs.

Can you link from the TOC to a bookmark within a topic and when activated have the bookmark appear

at the top of the page? If so, how?

You should just be able to drag the bookmark from the Topics pane into the TOC pane (pods if you are using RH8). This will put something like the following into the TOC:
My Topic#firstbookmark
Right-click on this and select Rename to change how it will appear in the TOC. You can see the display name (page title) and actual link (Link to) by right-clicking on the TOC entry and selecting Properties.
(This works in RH6. It should work in RH7 and 8, but I haven't specifically tried it myself.)

Firefox 8.01 won't install, just disappears. No error msg. Many attempts. Seasoned Firefox user trying to upgrade from 3.6.24 on Windows 7 machine.

I downloaded Firefox 8.0 and later 8.01. When the upgrade is launched it unpacks and then gets ready to install and I'm prompted to select a user or administrator. No matter which I select when click on install the prompt disappears and that's the end of it. Nothing happens. Tried about 5 times on both upgrade packages. Running on a Gateway laptop with plenty of memory and disk space with Windows 7. I have never had a problem with Firefox.

I am getting a "Prop Res DLL not loaded" message when trying to print from a website only while using Firefox, same does not occur using IE. Any suggestions

An attempt to change the "Properties" options prior to printing on my Lexmark X5150 causes the message. Same does not occur if I do the same under Internet Explorer.

I have tried creating the profile again and still get the same problem. The problem is machine based and not user based.

If you recreated the Outlook profile and still got the same problem, please try to recreate the Windows Profile:
Log on to client using local admin account->rename the profile folder under c:\users.
By the way, did you try to print the mails in OWA?

How do I can link from one MXML to another in the same project?

I planned to create a login page separated in my new Flex
application. Maybe I am too attached to the WEB philosophy but I
prefer to do it in that way. The login page will simply validate
the login through a call to a CFC. While the CFC will also create
the session variables I will need over the navigation of the user
(once the login is validated), the variables (or more specifically
the values of those variables) will serve as reference during the
user's navigation. And those values are contains in the ColdFusion
Session and can be accessed through CFCs.
If the login is a success, I need to redirect the user to the
appropriate page (in my case, the application is a help desk system
so if the user is identified as a technician will go to the
technician.mxml or if the user is identified as a sysadmin, will go
to the sysadmin.mxml - simple as that). Now, I know it is possible
to redirect using ExternalInterface.call function but is there
anything more specific to Flex redirection from one MXML to
another? Just like classes (where you can create dependency of a
child classe to is parent)?

I finally decided to use simply the method
ExternalInterface.call to do this and it works fine! I passed
parameters through the URL and I actually created CFM page that
contains a copy of the HTML code generated by FlexBuilder (the CFM
page give me the possibility to deal with the parameters).
But I though that Flex can actually call another Flex and
passing parameters directly without passing by the HTML page
itself. A kind of memory scope but I guess I wish too much!!!

I have just purchased a Nikon D7000 and iPhoto downloads jpgs but does not show them. It shows an empty frame. If you double click the frame it will show the image. I have tried importing images from the Nikon provided software and the same thing happens.

I just purchased a Nikon D7000. However, iPhoto does not display JPEG images. I seems to download ok, but displays only an empty box. Double clicking on the box opens the image in a single display window. It does the same thing when importing from Nikon's supplied software. Forget about handling RAW files. Now, I'm having difficulty importing JPGs from Photoshop files for slide shows or use in iMovie.

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Links from applications in a new window

It use to be that when I clicked on a link in Mail, it would open in Safari within a new window right on top. Now it opens in a new window under the one that is already open. Is there anyway to fix this? I don't want to open something new in another tab.

I am having the same problem, but I do have (and have always had) the preference checked to select tabs and windows as they are created. I love Spaces, but this only happens when Spaces is active and I think this problem has been happening only since 10.5.3.
With Mail.app in one space and Safari in another I click a known good link in Mail, Safari opens in Space 2 (correctly) with the new window opening and loading behind the Safari window that was previously open. It's driving me batty so any help is greatly appreciated.
