Trying to locate lost/stolen ipod. no icloud

I'm trying to locate an ipod touch that was not connected to icloud.  Any suggestions?

Just look for it.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

    hello?

Only if you had set up FindMyiPod prior to losing it.  If you did, you might be able to locate it via iCloud.  Browse out to https://www.icloud.com/ and log in with your Apple ID and choose Find My IPhone.
Keep in mind that in order to locate it via Find My IPhone, the device needs to be connected to a nearby Wi-Fi network, and must not have been restored by anybody who might have found it.
See this article for more information.

Report the stolen device to the local authorities and change any and all passwords to accounts you may have set up or used on the device.

  • TS4006 how can i locate a STOLEN ipod immediantly ?

How can i LOCATE a STOLEN ipod ?

It can only be located if you enabled Find My iPod on it before it was stolen.  It also would have to have be turned on with connection to the internet and still have your iCloud settings intact in order for it to be tracked.  (Unfortunately, criminals often restore them as new devices so they cannot be tracked.)
If you enabled this before it was stolen, you can try going to icloud.com on your computer to track it as described here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.

  • App for retrieving lost/stolen ipods?

imagine, ... you lose your ipod (or it gets stolen)... but that's ok because you were proactive enuf to have purchased and dwnloaded an app from itunes that registers one's ipod for this "insurance" situation. Is there such an app available on iTunes?... i have looked and cannot see anything remotely related to what i just described...
Then if somebody uses your ipod on their iTunes account then this would alert you as well as iTunes not to allow that particular ipod even after resetting it .... only the registered owner is able to ..., ... by getting it back into their hands. There could even be a reward-offering by the owner to the "finder" of the lost ipod.
    .... brilliant, i say, brilliant ....
i would certainly buy this yearly fee app or one-time only fee app, ... wouldn't you?

i know that apple is not interested in making such an app as they are not in the insurance biz nor do the want to be in the biz of trying to reunite owners of ipods with their lost/stolen ipods.... but somebody out there may want to make an app such as what i described and into making a lot, ... & i do mean A LOT of $$$ by doing this app. and then put it on iTunes to make it available to people. ANYBODY?

  • Advice for locating my stolen Ipod?

So our home was broken into a month or so ago and a bunch of items were stolen including my Ipod touch. I tried to locate it with Find My Iphone, and it showed it listed as one of my devices but it was always offline. I got tired of constantly checking to see if it was online so I set it up to notify me by email if it ever went online. I never got an email but randomly decided to check it today and lo and behold, it was no longer named "Melissa's Ipod" but is now listed as "jose." I'm just wondering if this means this person had to go online at some point for my account to register the name change, but if so I'm not sure why I never got an email. Does that request expire after a certain number of days?
Anyway, I'm not really sure what to do now, as so far it hasn't gone online. I'm reluctant to erase or lock the device because this seems to be my best chance of locating not only the Ipod but the rest of our stolen items. Do I just keep checking it, hoping they'll finally go online and I can locate them? Or is there some further measures I can take? Any tips or advice are welcome!

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • The other day at school i had lost/stolen ipod touch i had signed up with apple but i havent download the app (find my iphone) is there any way i can find out when my ipod touch gets connected to a wifi and track it

how do u track an ipod touch when its connected to a wifi and how do u find out when its your stolen ipod touch is connected

If you set up the Find My iPod service prior to the iPod going missing - the app is for tracking an iOS device from another iOS device - then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPod is turned on, connected to a WiFi network, and has not had the Find My iPod service disabled). Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. Note, though, that you'll only get the location of the WiFi router to which the iPod is connected; there's no way to pinpoint the exact location of the iPod itself.
If you did not set up Find My iPod, then there is no way to track it. Notify the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPod (the iTunes Store, for instance).
    Regards.

    - People would scream privacy violation if Apple logged your serial number every time you connected to Apple's site.
    - You tell Apple that somebody stole your iPod. You find it the next day on the kitchen table and forget to tell Apple. You sell it to me 3 months later. I log in and then sue Apple and you when the police come to me about having your stolen iPod.
    - Apple sets it up so they report to you when somebody logs in with your device.  You go to that house and get shot by the thieves. You sue Apple for placing you in a dangerous situation.
