Trying to make sound louder than standard controls allow me

HI,
I am trying to make the volume louder than the standard controls allow me to. Using my laptop for conference calls with a large group of people is difficult.
I have the HP Elitebook Folio 9470m laptop.
My operating system is Windows 7 Enterprise, service pack 1.

As it turns out, Elitebook 9470m is an ultrabook standard PC and has tiny speakers which may be good for the person sitting in front of it but for a larger audience, the sound output is not adequate.
If it was audio from a video then you could have tried something but in a conference call, it would not be possible to increase the sound.
I suggest you to have a look at notebook portable speakers which come in a variety of sizes and are designed to fit in a laptop bag so that the user can carry them along. These are not very expensive.

Hard drive sounds louder than expected when using a wacom bamboo tablet

i hace been trying to do some illustration work in photoshop CS5 using a wacom bamboo pen tablet
however as stated this seems to make the hardrive work louder then expected and i am worried that i could over heat and break my mac if i continue to work like this,
i dont even run any other programs well working (eg; safari or i-tunes)
i'm wondering if it is because my mac dosent have enough RAM to work both photoshop and the tablet at the same time and that if i add extra this would solve the problem
the tablet is powerd through a usb port

um i dont know how much ram it has ,but i havent added any yet so what it came with is the best answer i can give to that (sorry)
how loud would the fan sound as the noise i'm getting is a loud hum that starts up after a couple of

Xperia Z2 Cannot record audio sound louder than a bird chirping without distortion!!

Seriously Sony My Nokia 808 Pureview recorded Loud Concerts perfectly!!! Amazing that i spent 450 Euros on the new Z2 Xperia and the audio recording isnt bad is ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC!! Why have 4K Video if u cant record the sound. Even at a sports event it sounds Horrible... I NEVER had this problem on my Nokia Pureview... PLEASE FIX THIS!!! IT is totally unacceptable for a Flagship device!!

Because the CEO of Nokia is a moron that should have put ANDROID in the Pureview and that would sell a million units!!
But lastly Windows phone has NO let me repeat NO good apps!! If the Apps were equal, I would have absolutely no issue with getting a Nokia Lumia ahnds down!...You cant even get Tinder on a Windows phone!

I want to point out that the last time I posted this, the discussion was completely blank. This is a repost and hopefully it won't be blank this time
In my most recent short movie, I decided that I would focus a lot more on sound than I normally do, so bought a microphone, a recorder and a boom pole etc. I also decided to implement more sound effects (Bear in mind that I'm 16, not a professional).

Note that at about 0:10 seconds in, you can hear an alarm ringing, but also a sort of 'thump' sound (It's actually the sound of a vault opening/closing). You couldn't hear it normally, so I turned the bass up on it to 17dB. When playing it back in the timeline, it sounds perfectly fine, but when I export the video, much like the attached one, it's muffled and you can't hear the alarm or anything else.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to try and fix it, also that scene takes a while to export so I couldn't quite do any trial and error.
Now however, I'm going to enter the video into a small competition, so I thought I'd try and fix it...because it does sound terrible/unprofessional.
Any suggestions? Remember, it sounds perfect (In my opinion) when playing it back in the timeline. I'm using Premiere Pro CS5.5 on an 11,2 (October 2010) iMac running Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8, it's also being exported to a G-Drive FireWire 800 hard drive, not a RAID, perhaps that could be a problem?

And tried using the original MP3. It still didn't sound good.
I then tried exporting the sound on its own, with the bass, then imported it, but it still didn't sound as good.
I asked my friend (Who happens to also have the surname 'Curtis') and he said "just sounds to me like you have it so loud that it's clipping" and suggested that I "multitrack" it, basically layer several of them on top of each other, but that didn't work either.
He decided to add the bass in and fix the 'clipping'. It sounded good, but once imported, you could barely hear it, so I thought I'd try putting the bass up to 17dB like before...had the same problem. It seems to only sound nice/fitting with the 17dB bass...am I just going to have to turn it down and live with it?

I'm making a voice chat application, that currently works using the Java Sound API (So no JMF), in the following PCM_SIGNED format:

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what to use/read/look into in order to achieve this?
Also, I noticed that during the voice chat the volume was very low, so I've searched this forum, and I've found a way to increase the VOLUME, and later the GAIN, but these values were already on full volume, so I couldn't make the microphone any louder.
Is there a way to make the voice chat louder than it currently is?
My program is a J2SE GUI application, there are no servlets, both sides of the voice chat are GUI Desktop Applications, the voice chat is happening on UDP sockets.

I had an iphone G3. I just bought a G4. I can't hear the caller as well. I am really straining to hear. My hearing did not become impaired in one afternoon.Can you make it louder other than the left side buttons? I also have a screen saver or it but is for the iphone4.

Do you have: Settings > Sounds > Change with Buttons > ON? If so and you've maxed out the volume with the side volume buttons or the Settings slider, that's as loud as it gets. That sentence makes no sense, and I don't know what you mean by "screesaver"? No iPhone has a screensaver. Do you mean lock screen wallpaper? Isn't the iPhone 4 the model you have? Please clarify.

Quick follow up, since I was on my phone earlier and am back to a real keyboard.
To access Easy Setup, hit Control Q.
If you click on the blue discosure triangles, a dropdown menu with about a dozen different presets will be displayed. Select the one you want, (Here, I've selected 720P.)
Whatever you select for a preset will not be applied until you make a new sequence. (I don't like to have sequences with different properties in the same project so I prefer to make a new project if I change the Easy Setup.)
Because photo aspect ratios are different than video, I typically put a solid generator of some compatible color on the first track (v1) and put my photos on the track above (v2). Looks better, IMO, than black bars. There are other creative ways to display them. And of course, you could scale them up to fill the frame…but then you probably would have to re-position them.

My guitar is very quiet when trying to record? How can I make it louder?

I just got a new iMac and am using GarageBand to record some guitar and it is very quiet even with everything maxed out (gain and volume on focusrite saffire pro 14, track and master volume, and amp sim volume). Is there anyway to make it louder? Chain is Fender Deluxe Lone Star Strat > Saffire Pro 14 > FireWire cord> iMac. Thank you.

Hi The App,
When you're plugged in, does the light that says "Inst" light up on the PRO 14? This indicates an instrument level input, and can be activated through Saffire Mix Control. Near the bottom of the window, make sure the channel your guitar is coming in through has "Inst" selected, rather than "line" (also make sure you turn down the gain before you do this). Let me know if this solves your issue.

How come downloaded files always sound louder on iPod than ripped files?

Files that I've downloaded from the internet (.mp3) always sound louder on the ipod than the ones I've ripped (.m4a) from audio cd's. How can I fix this problem? I've tried by changing the bitrates of both types of files in the Options/Import dialog of iTunes but sound remains the same.

Try using a different "ripper" I personally prefer either dbpoweramp or EAC (Exact Audio Quality) they both are very competent in what they do, namely converting various between the numerous audio file types - I don't tend to use iTunes compression. I think you'll find that as long as you rip at >=192kb/s the quality of your compressed music is equally as good as the tracks you download from iTunes. EAC is freeware, dbpoweramp is available on a free trial. They both import the correct tags for your music files - as long as the music you're ripping isn't too obscure!

Does anyone else's MacBook Pro i5 make a loud harddrive disk startup sound?

Whenever I boot up my MacBook Pro, It makes a loud disk startup sound. Does it happen to anyone else?

I would take it in if the start up sound is different than the other Macbooks you've had.
Too few people here seem to have a new i5 yet and if its a big problem you want
it seen by Apple ASAP if it needs a replacement laptop.

if i clear the book so that it is all blanks and then try to load in the pictures i have it loses the chronology of the pictures that i had established in the album.
is there a way to import photos into an ibook template and keep the original order of the photos without having to do them one at a time?
also, is there a way to insert a photo rather than just dragging it? i have tried the cut and paste funciton but it doesn't seem to work, the target site doesn't seem to register with iphoto.

Photos are added to book in chronological order. So if you want to add them to a book in the order you have placed them manually in an album do the following:
1 - select all the photos in the album.
2 - use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option as shown here. Select any date and add 1 minute between photos.
3 - select just one photo from the album and create a book from it.
4 - in the book click on the Options button ➙ Book Settings button and make sure the checkbox for Auto-layout pages is unchecked.
5 - drag the album with your book photos onto the book icon and they will be imported into the Photos tray of the book in your pre-determined order but not into the pages themselves.

@Barbara – What purpose is that PDF for? Print? Web?
If web purpose, you could convert CMYK images to sRGB. That would reduce the file size as well.
A final resort to bring down file size is:
1. Print to PostScript
2. Distill to PDF
That would bring file size down even more. About 20%, depending on the images and other contents you are using, compared with the Acrobat Pro method. If you like you could send me a personal message, so we could exchange mail addresses. I could test for you. Just provide the highres PDF without any downsampling and transparency intact. Best provide a PDF/X-4.
I will place the PDF in InDesign, print to PostScript, distill to PDF.
