Trying to move photos from ipod to computer

Can anyone help me? I'm trying to move photos from my ipod to my computer. I had to have my hard drive replaced last week. I was able to get my songs back onto my computer but I'm trying to figure out how to move my photos. Anyone know?
Thanks--
Susan

Susan, had you checked "Include Originals" in the iPod preferences via iTunes?
If not, you'll only have very small thumbnails on your iPod and there is no straightforward way to recover these. (You won't be satisfied with their quality anyway as they are really small, downscaled versions.)
Don't you have any other backup (CD/DVD, .Mac, external harddrive)?
If you did opt to include the original pictures on the iPod you'll stilll have to enable "Disc use" of you iPod to access the iPod's content via the Finder.
Alexander.

  • Transfering photos from ipod to computer?

    Hello!
i used to sync my photos in ipod with my computer. But my computer crashed and i had to change a new computer.
Then, i realised that i can't transfer the photos that are already in my ipod to my new computer. The photos in ipod are in a file format that can't be opened (photo database).
Does that mean that my photos are stuck in the ipod forever? i can't view them with the computer and i can't sync photos with the new computer as i was warned that the old photos in my ipod will be deleted.
    Can anyone help? Thanks!

how do you transfer photos from ipod to computer?

See here for photos taken with the iPod: iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
If these were photos that you synced to the device via iTunes, then you'll need to download third party software to help get them off your iPod.

  • How do you move photos from iPod to new computer?

Just got a new computer with Windows 7 (I think) after using an old (really old) one. All my photos are on my iPod and the FAQ says they can be moved from it to the new computer if I enabled disk use (which I did). But it doesn't say how to actually move them. Can anybody help?

1.Turn on your computer. Close any applications that might slow the photo transfer.
2.Connect your iPod to your computer with the cord that came with your iPod. Make sure you have turned on the iPod.
3.Open iTunes. Wait for iTunes to register that your iPod is connected. If the screen does not register that a connection, disconnect the iPod and try again.
4.Click on the "Photos" tab below your iPod on iTunes. Look through the photos stored on your iPod.
5.Drag photos from the photos folder on your iPod to the desktop. You may also drag these pictures to a photo editing application, like Photoshop or Photosmart. Move any other images from your iPod to your computer.

how do I move photos from phone to computer

For photos taken with the iPhone or saved from emails/websites then see this page.
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPhone, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

    Hey kubanlinda64!
Here is an article that can help you get these pictures from your iPod:

  • Trying to download photos from Dropbox onto computer, but each time it says Decompression Failed. Can anyone help?

I am trying to download photos from Dropbox onto my computer. Each I time I attempt this, it just says Decompression Failed often after 1 hour of downloading. Can anyone assist me? I am not hugely technical!

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Need to move songs from ipod to computer

I had an incident and my computer needed to be reformatted. So I lost all my songs. Is there a way to move all the songs from my ipod to my computer?

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • When I connect my Iphone 4 to my computer I no longer get the option to move photos from iphone to computer. also i do not think my driver is operating. what to do?

When I connect my iphone four to my computer I no longer get the option to load photos from phone to computer.  I think i have a driver problem as well. What should I do?

The AutoPlay function on the computer is controlled in Control Panel. Also, there needs to be current photos that have not been imported to the phone for it to start, and also the phone needs to be unlocked if you have a passcode on it. If you have not been prompted to "Trust" the computer on the iPhone and answered that, it will also make a difference.
Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? What makes you think that you have a driver problem? You can take a look at Step 5 in this support document to see if that helps your driver problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

  • I cannot move tunes from ipod to computer

I had to re-install the operating system for my Power Mac G4. When I "enable disk" in the summary page for my ipod, I am unable to move tunes back to my computer. Does anyone know how to do this?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
