Trying to publish a new site... comes up under my original one :(

I'm trying to publish a new website as I have a family pack for .mac (five domain sites). I originally published my wedding site this past summer and when I try to publish my personal one (for my portfolio) it comes up under the wedding one.
ie: http://web.mac.com/originalsite/newsite
I would like it to just be:
http://web.mac.com/newsite
How do I change this?

If you have multiple sites within one domain each one has it's own address.
Like Tom, I'm a little unclear what you are trying to do.
I would suspect if you have a family pack you would be publishing from the separate accounts and would have separate domain files with one or more sites on each account (one per domain file probably best).
Now your probably as confused as I am.

Where are you trying to publish it to? Back on your GoDaddy hosting or with Adobe Business Catalyst?

    Hi roddy,
thanks for responding. I read your link, looked at my settings and they were all correct. I tried to do a republish and got this message: The requested URL /childrenandcaring/index.html was not found on this server.
When I type the address in the address bar, I go to the site and the page says: This is the new site childrenandcaring.com
    Any other ideas?

  • I need to know how you would publish a new site into an existing site

Okay I have a new Dreamweaver website that I just created for my brother in-laws law firm and want to publish in onto an ftp server but the sever already has the existing site published onto it and before I have it pulled down I would like to publish this new site on there to see if everything is going to work okay and if everything is displayed correctly.  Does anyone know if there is a way I can do this and how to do it?  Please help!!!
    Thanks

I typically create a TEST folder on the remote site.  Upload new pages and dependant files there for debugging and testing purposes.  Then using a 3rd party ftp ware (filezilla, cute ftp or Ws_ftp pro), I move the new site files & folders over to the root directory.  If you have used the same filenames as were on the old site, new pages will overwrite the old ones.  If you used a different naming convention, you will need to delete old files from server.

  • I just published my new site

okay, after ALL day of trying to figure this out, I finally uploaded and published my new site. I always have a tendency to complicate simple things and this wasn't any different.
Maybe this isn't the right place to post this, but I haven't had a chance to view the site in anything other than safari and firefox.
Hopefully I got most of the major kinks out, but would any of you mind taking a look and letting me know if you see any glaring errors?
    Thanks in advance,

Hi Christina, I just had a look at your site on Explorer on an iMac and on a PC. Everything seems fine on the PC but in the Explorer for Mac there are quite a few blocks of white space. On the Home page there is one right in the middle of the illustration. On the Portfolio page nothing was displayed below the headline choices, i.e. no slideshow button and no illustrations. On the Bio page the background is white and some of the text is overlaid with what I assume is another block of white space. The other pages appeared OK. I did get a warning on the last page but that was just because I didn't have a certain flash plug-in. All of the above could just be my set-up I guess. Hope that helps anyway.
    Nice images by the way!

  • Trying to publish a new iWeb site to mobileme

My son is part of a family account I have and he is experimenting with creating a blog using iweb
Is publisihing on Mobileme still supported?
We are trying to publish but it's selling us to sign in (and we are signed in) and can't progress further
I know that no future for IWeb publishing to MobileMe has been announced but is creating a new blog for an existing member of a family pack still supported?
    Thanks in advance
    James

Yes, if you already have a MobileMe account, then you can publish until June next year.
The Family Pack has different log in accounts, so just log out and then log in again.

  • I need to publish a new site for a client and need an IPS Tag. Where can I find this?

I have just produced a new site for a client who had originally set up a site with a host called Mr Site. She has been trying to cancel her contract with them so that she can now have her new site published, but Mr Site are saying they can't do anyting until they have the IPS Tag. Where do I find this and what do I have to do once I've given it to the Mr Site? Any help gratefully received.
    Cheers,

    Thanks Liam,
I think I understand. However, I thought I was using Business Catalyst for hosting, so am a bit confused about that. I've created a new site for my client using Muse and assumed that by publishing it using  BC that I'd be hosting it for my client through BC. I guess that is wrong. Do you have any suggestions for how I go about hosting the site? My client purchased the domain name via Mr Site (I think?) and I'm not sure they are going to allow a site created outside of their template system to be hosted by them. I'm a bit green when it comes to the hosting side of things, this is the first Muse site that I've created and am on a very steep learning curve. Any help you can give me would be wonderful.
    Cheers,
    Cathie

  • How can I publish a new site without republishing all previous sites?

I use iweb for publishing pages of photos on different jobs that I do. However every different job requires a new site and I cannot put up a new site without republishing all my previous sites. This obviously takes a very long time of unneccesary republishing. Is there a way round this?

The reason this is happening is because all of your sites are saved into the same iWeb Domain file. To truly make each of your sites separate and be able to edit and publish them completely independently, you will have to put each site into a separate Domain file. For exisiting sites, you can find instructions on separating your sites into different Domain files from Apnewbie here...
    http://web.mac.com/mark8heaton/iWeb/DomainSeparation/
Going forward for new sites and for your multiple domain files, you might find it easiest to use an application called iWebSites that will help you make and manage multiple Domain files...

  • Why do I get the question about index.html when I try to publish a new site?

When I try to publish a new or corrected ftp website (anyone)  I get a message saying that the file "index.html" already is present on the web and am asked if I want to replace it. What does that mean? I do not want to replace that site, only to publish new ones or repair old ones

Read this to learn about the index.html file :

hey Mr Froggywoggy, thanks for the communiqué
What do I want to happen ? ... Replace the old site !
In fact it gives me a chance to change my original (boring) site to something a litlle bit more "schnazzy",
so i'm doing a new different site to replace the old one. . ..
you read already that my original domaine site was not backed up,
therefore rendrering it "imposso" to edit of my existing pages.
I want to keep my domaine name -
    web.mac.com/phillip_peris
So one final Qu. to keep my head at ease,
    you say -
"But deleting those files manually will assure they are gone."
excuse me , but which files ?
All files in the folder, e.g.- photo page files, profile files etc, etc... or just the index.html ? ,
In brief, I just wanna wipe the slate clean and start-over with the new one
I'll do that, roger, will-co, 10-4 big buddy, & thanks dude for the info
