Trying to put a line feed in setToolTipText

Is it possible to place a character return or line feed in the ToolTipText? I have tried everything that was recommended in other posts but nothing works. \n, \n\r, System.getProperty("line.seperator"), etc. If someone could tell me whether or not it is possible, I would really appreciate it.

I tried the HTML tags, but they didn't work either.
Thanks for the responses. Are you sure? I would have expected that to work. I guess you know you have to put
at the start of the string.
E.g. "
Line one
line two.
"
The
at then end is optional, but the
at the start is required. Maybe post the code you used???

Tim

• Replace Line Feed a field with imported data

Hi, I’m trying to replace a line feed in a form field where data is imported to the field.
I can make the replace function work when typing into the field, but I can’t figure out how to make it work on imported data.
This is the script I use:
if (xfa.event.newText.match(/[\n]/) )
xfa.event.change = "LF"

Hi,
So if I am getting you correctly, the imported data has the new lines (\n)?
You could try the layout:ready event and test against the field's .rawValue. But this is going to be very inefficient.

• Problems uploading a text file with line feed characters from Windows

Hi,
I am using the FM GUI_UPLOAD to load a text file in which at the end of each line there is a line feed character. When I upload the file, the FM interprets the entire file as ONE record; it does not recognize the line feed character at the end of each file line. I am using the parameter in the FM "HAS_FIELD_SEPARATOR" and it does not do anything to remidiate this issue.
The funny thing is that WS_upload works like a charm and it separates every line in the text file according to the line feed character at the end of each file line.
Why a FM that is obsolete would work better and with less effort than the new one? We are on 4.6c and will go to ECC6.0 May 2009.
Can anybody recommenced a way to process this type of file using GUI_upload?
The file to process is downloaded from a bank Website into a Windows PC. Sending the file to Unix first is not an option.
Thanks,
Pierre Martinez
Edited by: Pierre Martinez on Aug 15, 2008 1:09 AM

Hi,
I have done that and Notepad does NOT interpret the line feed character. The file looks all messed up. Notepad does NOT split the data into records. The Hex character at the end of each file line is 0A.
The user will download the file into a Windows desktop from the bank's website and from there an ABAP program needs to read it and parse it. But the ABAP program can not even catch the entire file with gui_upload. WS_upload can catch it with no issues.
I tried catching the file into an internal table of data type string using GUI_upload, but it only catches two bytes of the file and nothing else.
I will try catching the file in some other type of data type for the internal table in gui_upload.
Once I catch it, I can split the file by the line feed character. I need to catch it first, but "my glove" is not big enough. Defining the internal table for the gui_upload as character is a guessing game since I really do not know how big the text file is since GUI_upload will put it in a one record.
Thanks.

• Folder action to find and replace text and change line feeds

I want to use a folder action to find and replace text and change Mac carriage returns to DOS line feeds inside text files.
The text to be replaced is: "/Users/wim/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Music" (without the quotes)
This text has to be removed (i.e. replaced by an empty string)
The text occurs many times within each file.
The files are playlists exported from iTunes in the M3U format (which are text files). They contain Mac carriage returns. These need to be changed to DOS line feeds.
I have found the following two perl commands to achieve this:
To find and replace text: perl -pi -w -e 's/THIS/THAT/g;' *.txt
To change carriage returns to line feeds: perl -i -pe 's/\015/\015\012/g' mac-file
I know that it's possible to make a folder action with Automator that executes a shell script.
What I want to do is drop the exported playlists in M3U format in a folder so that the folder action will remove the right text and change the carriage returns.
My questions are:
Is it possible to make a folder action that executes command line commands instead of shell scripts?
What is the correct syntax for the two commands when used in a folder action shell script? Especially, how do I escape the slashes (/) in the string to be removed?
Thanks for your help

Ok, I've include an applescript to run a shell command. The applesript command quoted form makes a string that will end up as a single string on the bash command line. Depending on what you want to do, you may need multiple string on the bash command lines. I've included some information on folder actions.
It is easier to diagnose problems with debug information. I suggest adding log statements to your script to see what is going on. Here is an example.

For testing, run in the Script Editor.
1) Click on the Event Log tab to see the output from the log statement
2) Click on Run

-- debug lines
set desktopPath to (path to desktop) as string
log "desktopPath = " & desktopPath
set unixDesktopPath to POSIX path of desktopPath
log "unixDesktopPath = " & unixDesktopPath
set quotedUnixDesktopPath to quoted form of unixDesktopPath
log "quoted form is " & quotedUnixDesktopPath
try
set fromUnix to do shell script "ls -l " & quotedUnixDesktopPath
display dialog "ls -l of " & quotedUnixDesktopPath & return & fromUnix
on error errMsg
log "ls -l error..." & errMsg
end try
end run
How to set up a folder action.
1) right click on folder. click on Enable folder actions
2) Place script in
/Library/Scripts/Folder Actions Scripts
3) right click on folder. click on attach folder action
pick your script.
Create a new folder on the desktop & try.
You can put multiple folder actions on a folder. There are other ways of doing this.
Here is my test script:
on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving dropped_items
repeat with dropped_item_ref in dropped_items
display dialog "dropped files is " & dropped_item_ref & " on folder " & this_folder

How to make the text into an AppleScript program.
Start the AppleScript Editor
/Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor.app

• HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 A809 printing line feed page after every job

I've searched and I have found this is a known issue - that there is supposed to be an update to fix this. I can't find this update anywhere for the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809. It is connected to the computer via a USB cable. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, changing the print heads, doing diagnostics on it, ..., and I still get the line feed page printing after every print job. Help!

Hey there @tjkalb, I hope you are doing well
I read your post about how a "line feed" page prints after each print job from your Officejet 8000, running Windows 7. I have some steps and questions for you to try to get started. Afterwards please get back to me with the results and we will go from there if needed.
1. Does the "line feed" page print after print jobs from all programs, or are you finding it prints when you print from somewhere specifically?
2. Try a Clean Boot on your PC, restart the PC, and try printing from Notepad to see if the line feed prints.
3. Print a Print Quality Page from the printer and examine it for any defects and to see if the line feed page still prints afterwards:
source
4. Click here and try download the "Updates" for this printer: HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer - A809a
5. Create another User Account profile on your computer and try printing from there to see if the line feed page prints from another profile.

• Removal of Line feed from EDI file in IDOC to EDI file scenario

Hi Experts,
I have one problem related to line feed in EDI file. Currently i am using seeburger mapping to do XML to EDI mapping. After mapping i am using File Adapter(with NFS) to create file in my PI server.
The line looks like
UNB+UNOA......
UNH+1.......
BGM.........
but i want my file in without line feed
UNBUNOA......UNH1......BGM
Can this be possible without use of Shell script?
Is anything i can do in Seeburger mapping [i checked BIC mapper in seeburger and see some parameters there]?
Regards,
Shradha

Hi,
I am explaining my scenario in detail:
my Current EDI file looks like
UNAf1f2............'
UNBf1f2............'
BGMf1f2............'
UNHf1f2............'
now i want my file to be in following format
UNAf1f2............'UNBf1f2............'BGMf1f2............'UNHf1f2............'
NOTE: to create my current file i am using File adapter with NFS and seeburger mapping.
Can you please tell me a way to remove the line feed from the current file ?
I already tried newline checkbox from seeburger and it is not working. and other parameter i can use from see burger mapping tool which will remove my line feed.

• Line feeds in a BPEL assign activity as viewed in the BPM worklist

We are catching errors in our BPEL 1.1 process (created in SOA Suite 11.1.1.6) and sending them to the BPM worklist via a human workflow. We followed the basic documentation found here:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e10224/partpage_hwf.htm#CHDGICFI
Before we invoke the call to human task, we assign some strings to parts of the message. For example:
<assign>
<copy>
<from expression="Detailed message:\n\nMore details go here."/>
<to>....
When we pull up our error in the BPM worklist and view the detail page, we do not see "Detailed message" and "More details go here." separated by 2 line feeds. Instead, we see the actual text "\n\n" printed out.
I have tried a variety of other line feeds, but nothing seems to work (i.e. to break up the text on the screen):
or
- The tags show up in the detailed view. When I view the HTML source, I see it escaped them with < and >
<br> or <br/> - This exact text shows up on the screen (i.e. we see <, etc.)
&lt;br&gt; or &lt;br/&gt; - Same result (i.e. we see <, etc.)

- The line break is visible in the HTML source, but that's just basic HTML whitespace which doesn't translate into a viewable line break
&amp#xA; - Same thing with
Just HTML whitespace

... 2 carriage returns here
- I tried to trick it into forcing the HTML whitespace into actual line breaks, but I had the same issue with the
where the open/close brackets are always escaped or printed...but never interpreted.
So...the big question is...what is the proper syntax to add line feeds that an HTML browser can interpret (while viewing the BPM worklist app) when I'm building that string in a BPEL <assign><copy><from> expression?
Please advise,
Michael

Can you simply format your expression according to what you need an try? I mean replace
<assign>
<copy>
<from expression="Detailed message:\n\nMore details go here."/>
<to>....
with
<assign>
<copy>
<from expression="Detailed message:
More details go here."/>
<to>....

• How can an external table handle data with line feed between delimiters?

I have defined an external table as below. My data is pipe delimited and comes from a DOS system.
I already remove any carriage returns before putting the file into the DATA_DIR for reading. But
I have found that some of my VARCHAR fields have embeded line feeds.
Is it possible to have a definition that would remove any line feed characters between the delimiters?
Below I also threw together a sample data set there ID #2 has that extra character. Yes, I could
write an awk script to pre-process all my data files. But I am hoping there is a way for Oracle
to also do this.
I understand the LDTRIM to remove any leading and trailing spaces in the delimited field. Is there a
REPLACE or TRANSLATE option. I did a bit of searching but I must be asking the wrong things.

Thanks for looking. But that relates to the record delimiter which in my case is the pipe character '|'. In my various data sets this is consistent. I expect each record to be one per line. But between two delimiters some data has a line feed. So I'm looking for a method that will "cleanup" the field data as it gets imported.
I was hoping there was an option that would ignore any embedded line feeds (\n) characters. I.e., those not at the end of the line.

Im trying to put music on my iPhone, when i click music all kt says is itunes match is on and has a box for me to click sync voice memos nothing else what do i do

Correct. When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.
10.6 software is not downloadable. You must purchase a DVD disc. You can order it from the on-line apple store

In tab module, i have:
Module name --> SAP XI Sample/ConvertCRLFfromToLF
Module configuration --> mode LFtoCRLF
The plain text file is attached to mail but there are no line feeds after the plain text lines.
Thanks, in advance

Stefan,
This is not a Java mapping, it's an ABAP mapping.
I've tryed also to insert this characters, but without success.
In my abap class i have:
data: l_newline type c value cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline.
data: l_linefeed type c value cl_abap_char_utilities=>CR_LF.
clear wa_string.
incode = idocument->get_elements_by_tag_name( 'linea' ).
length = incode->GET_LENGTH( ).
do length times.
outcode = incode->get_item( index = d_lines ).
wa_linea = outcode->get_value( ).
if wa_string is initial.
wa_string = wa_linea.
else.
concatenate wa_string l_newline l_linefeed crlf wa_linea into wa_string.
endif.
add 1 to d_lines.
enddo.
l_element_dummy = l_document->create_simple_element(
name = 'Content'
VALUE = wa_string
parent = l_element_root ).
so...it's similar to your suggestion..

• Converting strings with line feeds to a single line with identifying chars

Hi, I dont want to re invent the wheel if there is something out there that does this already. I want to take some string with multiple

OK, Hope this will make better sense. So right now a I have a routine that loads files like below:

After the initial word TEST, does that string have a backslash character followed by an r followed by another backslash followed by an n? Or does it have a carriage return followed by a line feed. (\r followed by \n)
We format it when loading in a way that it will look like this when queriing from the DB
"TEST
TEST1
TEST2"It doesn't look like anything "when querying from the DB." That part doesn't make any sense.
Either the string has a backslash followed by an r, in which case when you render in in a text editor or on a console it will look like a single line with a visible backslash character followed by an r, or it has a carriage return (\r) in which case it will look like multiple lines when rendered in a text editor or on a console.
Later I re-extract it to a file from the DB and What confuses me is when I inspect the string it looks like this
"TEST\r\n TEST1\R\n TEST2"How are you inspecting it? If it's in a debugger or similar tool, it's not uncommon for it to be showing a carriage return character (\r) as a visible backslash followed by an r, rather than interpreting it and rendering a new line. This is so that you can see exactly what characters are in there, rather than wondering about the specific whitespace.
