Trying to put images on a black background

hi, sorry if this is really simple but i can't figure it out.  i just want to layout photos on a blackground in pages.  i have figured out how to take a square shape a and create a black backgound.  but when i drag a photo ontop it takes up the entire page and covers it and when i grab the handles to make the photo smaller, it makes the black BG smaller too.
how do i put mulitple photos on a page with a black backgound?
thanks

  • Fade image to a black background

    hey guys,
    im trying to fade an image to a black background. i was able to fade the image from a few tutorials but not quite how i want to. i want to the image to fade into the black background. i was able to get the image to fade but its fading into a bright white. hopefully this is a quick one for one of you out there
    thank you
    jon

    I'm not sure if i understand exactly what You are trying to do, but if You change the "mode" from "screen" to "normal" and drag the pointer from left- to right (or remove the "reverse" and drag from the right to left) I'm sure it's about what You are trying to do.
    Another way is to paint "the edges" with a large soft brush in the same color as the background.

  • I have made flash cards on my ipad.  I am trying to put images on them.  How do I do this?

    My daughter is working on a project for school.  She has made flash cards and is trying to put images onto them... She has taken the pictures using her camera.  Now what does she have to do to put the pictures onto the flash cards?
    Thanks!!

    She says she used Ifree Flash Cards???  I don't know anything about the IPad.  I did however try to copy and paste but I guess it doesn't work the same as on a computer???
    Everytime we tried to copy the photo all it will do is make an extra copy?
    Thanks for your answer and any help.

  • Still images turn to black backgrounds in the exported movie

    I am still using Premiere 2.0. I produced a ca. 25 min project with still images at the beginning and at the end and short videoclips in between. Still images are only ca. 40-50 kB large. When working on it I occasionally got a few problems (e.g. an audio transition across two clips was making Premiere hanging up) but I could easily get around them and successfully preview the project and export it to a folder and directly to a DVD. However, when viewing the movie on TV I found out that almost all (BUT NOT ALL!) the still images had turned into black backgrounds. I have exported the movie as MPEG, more still images were fine but not all of them. I have tried to drastically reduce the number of still images (max 5) but nome of them were fine. I do not have any error message and this problem is driving me crazy! Does anyone have a brilliant idea?
    Last year I bought the new version of Premiere (3.0 I believe, surely not 7.0) but I stopped using it after one week because there was no way to successfully export the project I was working on. I made several videos, always got problems but so far I always found a solution on Premiere forum. Hope this time too!
    Many thanks for the attention

    Try sizing your photos to 1000x750 pixels in size.
    Also, right-click on each photo on the timeline and select Field Options and check the Flicker Removal box.
    These will give you the best quality.
    I am also concerned, however, that you are having technical problems and, especially, that you can not use a newer version of the program.
    I'd recommend you install the latest version of Quicktime and the newest RealTek drivers, as we recommend in our FAQ.

    Terence isn't the jerk in this thread. He's was just attempting to give you a solution you can run yourself instead of having it given to you.
    GraphicConverter can create a transparent file, a gif. Try the following workflow:
    1 - first convert the file to a gif (use 89a) and save and reopen.
    2 -select the Magic Pen and set it's sensitivity to about 40 (double click on it will bring up the setting pane).
    3 - click on the black background to select all of the black.
    4 - select to the Edit->Make Selection Transparent menu option.
    5 - save the file.
    The black will turn to a checkerboard pattern indicating transparency. If you anticipate a lot of advance editing I suggest you look at Photoshop Elements. I find it much more powerful than GC and it supports layers which is a very powerful too. Here's an example of some of the advanced editing you can do with it.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do you fix the zoom when trying to put a picture as your background?

    Every time I try to put a new background on my iPad mini, it zooms in way too far. This only started happening after I got IOS 7. Please Help! And I don't turn on the Optimal Zoom but it zooms anyways!

    have you tried to go to your photo int he photos app, 'send' it to be a wallpaper and see if it zooms less that way?

  • Black background on imported images

    I have imported a few images that have blank backgrounds (.png images for instance), and iPhoto automatically puts them on a black background. This is fine except for when the image is black, and in that case, you can't see the image. Can I change the background color?

    hotwls:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Those png files have transparency layers and which show up as black when displayed in iPhoto. When added to other documents or printed the background of the paper or other documents will show thru. To change them export them to the desktop changing the format to jpg and the transparent layer will change to white.
    The other formats that can contain transparency layers are gifs and Photoshop.

  • Why cant I see image I am placing on black background?

    I am trying to design a postcard with one image on a black background. I've made the area black w/rectangle tool and when i physically place image I cannot see it. Ive tried to move it to front? What am I doing wrong? Any help on resizing images would be helpful also. When I "placed" the image it was huge so I used the "transform" to reduce its size. How will this effect resolution? What is proper way to import image that you need to make smaller but maintain ratios? Many novice questions, I'd be grateful for help and answers.

    Here is the 72 ppi warning.
    Then I went to check what you suggested and here's what I found.
    and the link
    which isn't a linked image?
    I am trying to do something that seems so simple, an image from a .jpg on a black background???? I just cant get the 300 dpi like they say I need
    to do. I am far from a computer genius and screwed up the last postcard I made so I've got to get this right.
    I appreciate any and all the help.
    Hope to solve this in the am with all of your help, especially yours mr. falkner. Cheers.

  • When I copy an image with a transparent background into an image editing program like Photoshop, I get a black background

    I'm wondering if there's a way to preserve transparency, or even change the color of the background to white.
    I often need to get reference pictures for my artwork, and it is a pain to have to save every image and the black background often makes it difficult to see the image, especially when the image has only black pixels.
    Help?

    You can try to drag the image in a Photoshop window instead.<br />
    If that still doesn't work then you need to save the image and open it in Photoshop.

  • Problem: Light color shadow on top of black background when printing

    Using InDesign CS3, PC.
    I have a book cover design that looks perfect on screen. There is a section with a black background and colored letters on top of it. Also on top of this black background is an image of a dinosaur (made in illustrator CS3). The image was placed into the InDesign file and does not have any color to the background. But when it is printed (Xerox Phaser), there is a colored shadow where the image overlaps the black background section.
    There are also colored areas over other black background sections where drop shadows (35%) occur on top of the black background.
    Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have never dealt with 100% black in my designs before and I must be doing something wrong.
    Again, on the screen you cannot see any of these colored areas on top of the black background. It's only when I print that they show up.
    Thank you,
    Cathy

    I just tried another thing that worked! make sure your macbook isn't plugged into the power source, then hold your power button in for 10 to 15 seconds until it turns off, and you do that 5 times, and then plug it back in and give your photobooth a go. Mine worked!

  • Tried to install the latest update on my ipad. i get an image of "itunes" with a connecting cord. hasnt changed in three hours. if i turn it off, it goes right back to same image on black background. i am stuck, please help me, thanks

    i tried to install the latest update on my ipad. i get an image which says I tunes with a cord to plug in. it is on a black background.. it has been like this for three hours now. if i turn it off and then on again that is the only page that appears. i am stuck. please can anyone help me? thanks.

    It's too bad you lost stuff. I would recommend that you back stuff up before the next one. For example, iOS8 will be out sometime this fall. Just in case you experience the same thing again, do a backup before you do the update.

  • Trying to put a background image into my div but it closes out. What gives?

    I keep trying to put a background image into my div but it always closes out when I try to pick an image from the browse button and then I get the spinning colored wheel of death. I've tried it on the CSS Designer Properties section and in the Properties Box on the bottom of the layout.

    Could be a memory issue. Try closing Dreamweaver and re-start your computer.

  • Black background when scaling images with transparent background

    I am implementing Zooming functionality for reports which have some icons. I am trying to scale icon by scaling its image. But the problem I am facing is that the icons have transparent background and the scaling puts a black background in place of transparent. Is there any way to maintain its transparency or better yet, Is there anyway to put a white backgound instead of the black one that is created by default ? Here is my code
         public static Icon getScaledIcon(Icon icon){
             if(icon instanceof ImageIcon){
                  Image outImage = ((ImageIcon)icon).getImage();
                      return new ImageIcon(getScaledImage(outImage));
             }else{
                  Image outImage = new BufferedImage(icon.getIconWidth(),
                            icon.getIconHeight(),
                            BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
                    JComponent comp = new JComponent(){};
                    icon.paintIcon(comp, outImage.getGraphics(), 0, 0);
                    return new ImageIcon(getScaledImage(outImage));
        public static Image getScaledImage(Image image){
             image = image.getScaledInstance((int)(image.getWidth(null) * getScale()),
                           (int)(image.getHeight(null) * getScale()), Image.SCALE_SMOOTH);
            return image;
        }I haven't done much image manipulation , so I would really appreciate any help or advice.

    I have also not done much of image work. But I guess you could achieve your functionality of showing scaled image in the screen by not scaling the image and show it, instead scale the image in paint method by calling g.drawImage giving the height and width. But use high resolution images so that scaling is good.
    If you do in this manner, you could give any colour you want as background to fill the transparent area or leave it as such.
