Trying to re-install Skype

HELP. I'm having problems trying to re-install Skype on my Asus tablet. I keep getting an error showing '-24'

Your device is Android-based.  The install error (-24) you are having is somewhat common on Android devices and can happen to any program, not just Skype.  From the Android FAQ thread.  You are experiencing problem #2.
http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/Frequently-asked-Android-questions-Answers/td-p/211358
The below is the simplest solution next to obtaining root access to the tablet and hunting down the equivalent of leftover/stray files/settings to fix the error.
2) "Insufficient available space" during installation
This is actually a bug in Android itself due to not all files being removed after uninstalling. Try restarting your device, e.g. switch off and on again. Afterwards retry installation from Android Market.  If that did not help try resetting your device to factory settings.

    hi nbinc,
    thanks so much for replying..
    i tried what you said.
and I get this reply: can't sign in. wrong password...
tried getting new password but doesn't work either.
below the original info.plist in text.
I had a doubt with one of the string I had to change...
    <string>Skype version 2.8.0.866 (18210), Copyright © 2004-2010 Skype Technologies S.A.</string>
tried replacing the number only and then the whole string for what you told me:  <string>6.3.0.602</string>

  • 1603 error while trying to install skype

I'm having an issue while trying to install Skype on this computer, when I try to install it, it pops up and says "Object Already Exists" and then I get a second window saying "Error 1603 has occured: Fatal Error During Installation." I had Skype and it told me I needed to update so I clicked it and I've been getting this message ever sense. I tried to find Skype to uninstall it but after clicking that update the program was gone. So I went into Program files and deleted all skype related things and tried to download and install again. Got the same message. Please help!

You have to reboot for that fix to work.  If you already did this then for whatever reason the solution didn't work on your machine (possibly due to some other corruption).  The issue you are having is not Skype based but Windows/OS installer based.  Try to install the latest Windows updates to see if that will fix the issue as newer Windows updates were designed to address that problem.  If you have already tried that then remove the problematic Windows updates that causes this issue on some computers.

  • I have three programs I would like to uninstall from my apple pro ,   also I am trying to install skype but having great problems with this to  Marie

Hello, I have three programs I would like to delete and uninstall from my apple pro , plus I cant seem to install skype for some reason,as we are going to be traveling around Australia soon I would like to keep in touch with family and friends. I would be most thankfull for your help
                                             Regards  Marie

    Hi Marie
Can you please describe what happens when you try to install Skype? I've found one common issue people have is that they don't actually fully install it - a lot of people download it, open the downloaded image, and run it from there - and dont actually ever copy it to their Applications folder, so next time they look for it, it can't be opened. Try again from scratch - go to the Skype website, download the file, if it doesn't automatically display the Skype disk image on your Desktop, go to your Downloads folder, locate the Skype download and double-click it to open, then, open a new Finder window and drag the Skype application from inside the disk image to your Applications folder. Once that's done you can trash the disk image. Go to your Applications folder, find Skype and launch it. Let me know if you get stuck.
As John says, it would be very helpful to know exactly which Mac you have. If its a laptop, you probably have a MacBook Pro, not a Mac Pro, which is a very large, heavy silver box and not amenable to being dragged around Australia!

I would like to know, while installing Skype in ipad2, what is the postalcode tobe entered?

  • Error while installing Skype; code 1603

    Good evening,
Today my girlfriend tried to update her Skype but she got an error code:
    - You can not remove the older version of Skype / tm 6.18. Contact your technical support group
    - Error while installing Skype; code 1603
She tried some solutions I believe but nothing seemed to help, I'm not sure what she did so far, I guess it's not to much. Maybe somebody got an idea what it can be? Please help.
    Netbook: Acer
    Windows 7
Thanks in advance, I would really like to know the solution since I can't wait to be able to Skype with her in a normal way again.
    Greetings,
PS: Lately when I was spending time on Skype with her I barely saw her, and we thought that updating her Skype might solve the problem, somebody knows if this would solve her problem? Or maybe it's a problem with her internet?

Thanks for the fast reply, but we are not quite there yet unfortunatly.. When she tries to download http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.18.0.105.msi she gets the message:
The Installed Product does not match the installation source(s). Until a matching source is provided or the installed product and source are synchronized, this action can not be performed.
So we can't really get started till this is solved. You might know a solution?
We also tried the http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/en We got quite far with this but in the end we had 2 messages:
    - Cannot install or uninstall a program (Not fixed)
    - Corrupt Patch Registry keys (Fixed)
Is this a good sign? I really don't know myself.
    Thanks in advance again!
    Greetings

  • I want to install Skype on my iPhone.

I have got an iPhone. I want to install Skype on my iPhone. When installing it throught iTunes, it is showing that Skype is a free application but when I continue to download and install it, it asks for payment through credit cards!? So what is the meaning of showing the skype application as "Free"?
Or if it is really free! Please let me know how to install it.
    Thanks.

There are no charges for free apps. You're just opening an account. If you don't buy anything you won't be charged anything. In addition to Credit Cards, you can also use PayPal, or set up an account without a card following these instructions. You must be at least 13.
      iTunes account without credit card:

  • Installed Skype and now Flash Player won't open in new window

I installed the latest version of Skype and now Flash Player does not work properly.
I just bought a new laptop, it has Windows 7, 32 bit, IE 9, and Flash 10.
A website that I go to all the time uses Flash Player so when you click on a link in the site it pops out the player into a new window and you can listen while you still browse on their site.  After I installed Skype last night, that 'pop-out' function is no longer there.  The player now replaces the webpage and it is very large and distorted because it is supposed to be in a small pop-out window.  No matter what I click, I can't get the link to open in a new window, it always opens in the same window replacing the webpage.
I uninstalled Skype and then used the manual uninstaller of Flash because the uninstall would not work from the uninstall screen in Windows.  I then reinstalled the latest version of Flash Player and I still have the same problem.
Is this a setting that I can change somewhere??
    Thank you.

Hi eidnolb, thanks for the reply.
I did uninstall the google toolbar that was installed with skype.
I now found that it is not just flash player that won't open in a new window, I can't get any link at all to open in a new tab or a new window.
I tried restoring IE's settings and that did not work.
I know this is an adobe forum and my problem is now much larger than just adobe, but if you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

  • Requesting solution for how install Skype to ipho...

    Dear Skype support Team,
I have iPhone 3GS (6.1.6V) mobile,im facing problem while try to install Skype app using the App Store, it showing Error massage “my mobile version not support 6.1.6V, its requires iOS 7.0 or later”
Please update me regarding this incident & if any older support version available please provide me How to download and install to my IPhone 3gs device.
    Regards,
    Randika.

I use Vista, a lot easier, but still helps to pull OS X boot drive during the install.
Format one drive as MBR before you begin and forget using BCA.
Never need to use other than quick format, but I do have to reboot from Vista DVD after formatting before it is accepted.
Acronis True Image 11 won't work.
Gave up on all Norton products though I have not used the latest version Ghost 14 (12 was last I tried) or the new 2009 betas.
    Prosoft DataBackupPC seems useful.
MacDrive 7, even the latest is NOT compatible at all with Vista Ultimate 64-bit, it is the worst piece of software and brings Vista to its knees and requires giving up (hard restart) anytime I tried copying. (And it constantly nags).
Paragon-Software 6.4 NTFS driver for OS X works very well and better now than the MacFUSE 3G set.
The Mac Pro is Intel, not IBM, hence, not G5 series. Great machine. Broke my teeth on IBM 360s as the 1401s were being replaced, along with "unit record" equipment

  • When installing Skype, I get error 2001

Every time I try to installing Skype, I get the iTunes error 2001 (not very helpful at all)!

    Pat,
Thank you for responding. I'm experiencing the same runaround. I don't know which Illustrator link to click, and the one I did click wound up giving me the same error message. I think the problem is I need to download it to the Cloud or to Google Drive. I don't seem to have an option for where Illustrator can be downloaded. I read on the Chromebook website that there is no hard drive on a Chromebook, that everything needs to be downloaded and retrieved to/from the Cloud. I need CS6 Illustrator and also need Adobe Photoshop for my class.
When I tried downloading I also noticed I was in an area for people who haven't paid. How do I download it as part of my subscription?
If downloading to the Cloud is possible, how do I access and retrieve programs downloaded to it?
    Best,
    Stephanie
