Trying to reactivate an original iPhone after reseting it

I recently upgraded to a 4s from an original 3 iPhone (non "G").  I had reset the 3 phone and wiping the info clean, stupidly thinking I was trading it in, but decided to keep it to make it just an iPod for my daughter.  Now when I hook it to iTunes, it won't activate and I get just a blank space with no prompts to do anything.  I thought it was because of iTunes 10.5, so I downloaded older versions and tried, but same result.  I really think now it's the fact that the iTunes store itself doesn't support the older OS.
Suggestions on how to activate the original 3 phone now?  Thanks for any help you can provide.
-Bruce

Put it in recovery mode to restore it, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.  You can do this on your other laptop; it won't ask for a passcode if it's in recovery mode.

  • I cannot activate my original iphone after resetting

I reset my iPhone, and it then got stuck in restore mode? All i can see is a picture of a USB cable and the iTunes logo.
It has a slide bar saying 'Emergency calls', if i slide this it then takes me to a keypad where I can then allegedly type in a code to be able to take me to my home screen.
It is saying, when connected to iTunes, that it is an invalid sim as the iPhone was purchased from The States.
Does anybody know how I can get hold of a code, or does anyone have one for me? If not, what else can I do to be able to get my phone back up and running?
    Thanks.

I have the same iPhone as you.
    The one locked to AT&T.
    All i did was:
    go to this website: http://www.quickpwn.com/downloads
and download by clicking on: Download PwnageTool 3.0 (Mac users only)
this program will create a new ipsw restore file for you iphone, but it will unlock it.
i had to downgrade my itunes to an earlier version than 8.2 so that it would work.
all u have to do is follow the steps of the program and then restore your iphone but with the file that custom it will create.
And your iphone should be unlocked and running the 3.0 update.

  • Has anyone else had the issue of losing the YouTube apps on the original IPhone after updating to 4.3.5

Has anyone else had the issue of losing theYouTube app on the original IPhone after updating to 4.3.5?  (The Restrictions is turned as OFF)
The Youtube app is now cleaned away from the IOS 4.3.5
    Any help would be appreciated.

This still doesn't make sense. The iPhone 4 may have come with a number of different versions of iOS out of the box depending on when it was purchased and how long it had sat on the shelf.
If you can't find it, check restrictions and make sure you haven't locked it out.

  • Original iPhone - attempted reset all - won't turn off

Has anyone ever experienced and found a fix for an original iPhone that won't shut down after trying to reset all (from the Settings icon on the phone itself)?

Have you tried resetting the phone?
-hold the sleep/wake button and home button simultaneously until the display goes black and the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work, try updating the phone. If the issue is malfunctioning software this may fix it.

  • I'm trying to activate my original Iphone for a few weeks

My daughter dropped my 3G in the toilet- and so of course it is toast.  I ordered a new 4S- but they are backordered- so I was told I could place my current sim card into my original Iphone.  When I do- it shows a picture of cord to be plugged into  Itunes.  When I do plug it in, my computer recognizes it, but the phone is just frozen with this icon.  I've tried 3 different computers and they all had the newest Itunes software.  Has anyone had this happen?  And more importantly- do you know how to fix it?  I really need a phone for the next 3 weeks!  Thanks for any ideas!

Your patience is greatly appreciated joanr1331! Let's get your iPhone 5c activated once and for all. May I have you remove the sim card, reboot, and reinsert, & retest. Keep us posted with your findings.
    Thank you…

  • Bluetooth not working on original iphone after 2.1 update

Just updated my original iphone to 2.1 and all my pairings for bluetooth are gone. Also when I attempt to re-pair the bluetooth section just displays a spinning circle and refuses to recognize any of my bluetooth devices.

    Hi jopiii,
Try Resetting Network Settings on the iPhone, go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings.
Then make the bluetooth headset discoverable and pair it to the iPhone as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1664

  • How do you reactivate  an original iPhone to a new account?

I upgraded my original iPhone with a new 3GS a month or so ago. I did not change sims. The original iPhone still has it's original sim and has been used as an ipod touch for the last month or so and my 3GS has my original phone number with it's new sim it came with.
I now want to switch my husband from his Verizon account onto my AT&T account and have him use my original iPhone. I know I need to arrange with AT&T to add a line to my account but I want him to keep his phone number. Do we put the sim from his blackberry in the original iPhone, will AT&T give me a new sim, or will they somehow activate the original sim in it?
If I can do this over the phone without having to go into a store (using either my original sim or his sim) then that would be easiest.

im sorry i do not know but can u tell me if i can sync to a droid phone

  • Video Formats Supported by Original iPhone (after 2.0.2 update)

Hello, I checked the technical specifications for original iPhone and iPhone 3G separately and I found the following difference.
    Original iPhone:
H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP2
    iPhone 3G:
H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP495
So my question is that if I update the software of my original iPhone to version 2.0.2, does it update the supported video formats as well??
    Thanks.
    Raymond

I did a little digging around and found this at the AT&T site...
    http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/en/2G3Gcomparison.pdf
It would appear that they both support the same throughput and Baseline Profile … with the updated software, I presume.
    Hope that helps.

  • HT4623 i am unable to restart my iphone after reset

    sir
how can i restart my iphone while i have reset my all setting on iphone and every thing has been errased

Try DFU Mode Restore. Here are the steps:
Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release Power button, keep holding Home button. When iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, if iPhone screen is blank, black this is DFU Mode. Usually takes up to 20 more seconds of holding Home button. Restore the iPhone firmware. DFU Mode can be a bit tricky even for experienced users, so keep trying to get DFU Mode. Again it is Recovery Mode with the blank, black screen. If you have the iTunes screen this is not DFU Mode, keep trying.

  • Tried to update deactivated original iPhone

I have been useing my original deactivated iPhone as an iTouch. I tried to put 3.0 on it and now it is stuck in "emergency call" mode with the usb cable pic. anyway to get it working again as an iTouch??

You need to insert the no longer activated SIM card - the SIM card that was used with the iPhone when it was activated in order to install a firmware update or restore the iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed, or to complete the process.

  • Unable to start my iPhone after resetting/erasing all content.

I have iPhone 3GS 16GB. I got a problem. I have reset my iphone i.e. want to restore to factory setting so when i have selected :Home screen/settings/general/reset/erase all content and settings, my phone got off and after that its not restarting now. Even i have connected to itunes but its not being started so pls guide to restart again so that i can start using my phone once again.

Charge up your phone and try to see if it get's past the Apple logo. If it does not try to reset the device.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't work, then try to turn the phone off.
Restoring the device may be your only option at this point, you will lose any data not already backed up.
Press and hold the home button and plug it into your computer with iTunes open. Keep holding that Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, the iTunes logo and USB cable.
Then iTunes should tell you that it has detected an iPhone in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored.
Those steps are also in this article with pictures!

  • Can't recieve texts from iphones after resetting iphone 4

I had to reset my iphone 4 (ios 6) over the weekend. Now my phone won't recieve texts from iphones. It does recieve them from other devices. I think it may be an imessage problem since I can't reset that as I'm unable to recieve the necessary text! Any ideas?

i had the same issue.  what worked for me, and hopefully for you, is that my iphone friends still had my number listed in their contacts as an iphone.  Once they changed it to just mobile i started getting their messages.  They also went into their messaging settings and checked the box that says to send a SMS message when imessage is unavailable.  i'm not sure if this is a universal setting or if it can be changed per contact.  i'm not sure which of the above did the trick, maybe the both in tandem, but i haven't had a problem since.  unfortunately, you won't know if there's a problem until you get an angry call from an iphone user whose texts you are "ignoring."  i hope this helps
