Trying to reconnect media...Some attributes do not match..

Hey all,
I'm trying to do some color grading for a friend. She gave me the raw video files and the fcp project files on a hard drive. When I opened the project file, all the media was offline, so I assumed I needed to reconnect them. However, when I find the clips and try to reconnect it says:
"Some attributes of one or more of the files you have chosen do not match the original. This may cause problems within the sequences that are dependent on them. The attributes that differed are as follows:
-Rate
-Reel
Would you like to try to connect them again?"
Is this a big deal? What exactly are "Rate" and "Reel" referring to?
And how do I fix this, or do I even need to worry about it?
Just for clarification, all I'm doing is bringing it into final cut so I can send to color and color grade what she has edited together.
Any help would be wondreful

sounds like you need to verify your dimensional usage tab to verify the relationships between dim and fact on the measure group.

As Jon said, you can verify the relationships between dim and fact on the measure group on the dimensional usage tab. Use this section to define how you "join" your measure groups to your dimensions. There may be a Dimension-Measure Group relationship
that is defined using the wrong attributes and you'll need to select the correct attributes to link the Dimensions to the measure groups. Here are some similar thread for your reference.

Error code attributes do not match

when trying to install SQL Server 2008, on Feature Selection screen, I am getting an error message: Attributes do not match. Preset attributes (Directory, Compressed), including attributes (0), excluded attributes (Archive, Compressed, Encrypted). What do I do to proceed with the instal?

PublicKey attribute does not match

I'm publishing a VS2010 project (was converted from a VS2005 project) but keep getting the following warnings:
Warning 1 The value of the 'PublicKey' attribute in 'SAP Crystal Reports Runtime Engine for .NET Framework 4.0' does not match that of file 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi'.

Trying to down load some free games-not enough access priviledges?

I have been trying to download some free games on my new ipod touch. It gives me a message:
There was a problem down loading "game." You don't have enough access priviledges for this operation. Please check that the connection t the network is active."
There is an err-5000 on the download page. I did notice there was not an application tab on the left side where library, podcast, etc.. is.
I am on the internet, and signed in. It even shows me my balance on my itunes account. I am the administrative user, signed in on my account. Why won't it download for me?

OK. I now know what happened but don't know how to fix it. When I hooked up my ipod touch i did it on my son's user account. My administrator's user account doesn't have the blue application icon nor does my daughters. But my sons does. I supposed because I didn't sync it with the admisistrators account it worked out this way. So.... how do I get it on my account and my daughters. (She is going to go and buy one today.)

Exporting sequence, some clips do not match the timeline

Hey guys,
I am exporting video to match sequence settings (MPEG).
For some reason, I have two clips that will just not show up int eh final output video. There is some video in the beginning that defaults to the start of that clip, not the selected portion that is in my timeline, and then an audio issue towards the end that is the same thing. It's perfect in my program monitor, but when I export it, I'm getting something else. Is this a wierd bug or glitch?
Edit: Exporting directly produces the results I was looking for . For some reason, it only happens when I use media encoder.
Edit a 2nd time. I lied, it worked once, the next time I encoded it the clip was wrong again. WTF premiere.
Edit a 3rd time, now the clips in my sequence changed. It's almost like a caching issue or something .... it's wierd, it's like some clips go back to the very beginning, ignoring the in/out points I set for them.

Pro-100: Some colors do not match monitor; some do

New to forum but have reviewed all questions that I can see for 2014 and do not see an answer. I am using Photoshop Lightroom and CS6 and the Pro-100 printer. Monitor is an NEC P221W, calibrated using SpectraSensor Pro. Printing with Canon CLI-42 ink on Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II. I have installed the latest XPS printer driver and am confident that I am using the printer with the proper driver. Here's the problem: I cannot get bright blues and greens to print with the same level of intensity that I see on the monitor. As a test, I printed some other photos that consist primarily of portraits, and skin tones and general color are superb. Only my effort to print a photo consisting of green leaves and bright blue flowers with the saturated color of the flowers popping off the paper does not seem to work.

You are going to need to over saturate the colors you want to exceed the rest of the colors in the photo.
Over the years I have found out a few things that seem imposswible whrn prinitng. This was true in my darkroom as well as printing digital.
One, it is impossibile to get all the colors to match a monitor. You can get several to match but not all of them.
Two, the most important adjustments of your monitor is gray-scale, contrast and brightness.
Three, Canon professional photo printers have a tendacy towards a reddish (warm tone) bias. It is built in. This is going to make over saturated greens more difficult.
Remember you are looking at and comparing light on a screen to pigmented ink on paper.

Some sound does not match up in iDVD during transitions

I have created iMovie 09 (8.0.4) that has transitions (fades, wipes etc) and then send it to iDVD and at different times the sound cuts out several seconds before the transition then then the new sound starts at the wrong place. But it does not happen at every transition, but enough to make it very noticeable; in my case a wedding procession of each bridesmaid walking, the sound cuts out (should fade) about 2 seconds then the Cross Dissolve happens, but not on every girl, but most of them.
I have other movies and DVDs that do not have this issue.
Any ideas?

You are correct, re: the "best" way to hanlde OOS. The ultimate method with VHS tapes, is to use an A-D bridge, that Captures both the Audio & Video in sync. However, this usually means an investment is a product like the Canopus/Grass Valley 110, or their 300*. These are FireWire devices, but will get your tapes Captured (through the Edius software) onto your computer in DV-AVI Type II format w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio.
Next to that, the manual method works well. Usually, the OOS will not be dynamic, i.e. it will not drift over time, but always check to be sure. Also, it will most often be constant Capture to Capture, i.e. you can usually find the offset and can at least use that as the starting point for all other Captures from that card.

Reconnect media attribute change

I am trying to revise a project and have moved the media from my MacBook Pro to an external drive. When I try to reconnect the media I gat an error saying "Some or more of the files you have chosen do not match the attributes of the original".
The attributes in question are the reel and rate. I have not changed anything, just moved them.
Any ideas?

so, what you're saying is that you duplicated the contents of the capture scratch, from Disk A to Disk B
thats fine of course, but unless you've instructed to your FCP project to use the duplicate copy as the media source, then your project will still stay media is offline if you don't mount Disk A, because it doesn't know anything about Disk B ...
then again, you seem to be suggesting that Reconnect Media... is not letting you redirect the offline clips (on Disk A) to the new copies (on DIsk B) ?
the procedure that ought to work is:
in the Browser window, select all the offline clips, then choose File > Reconnect Media...
in the subsequent "Reconnect Files" window, click "Locate" and navigate the "Reconnect" browser to the new clip location on Disk B.
when you've selected the new copy of the clip, make sure the "Reconnect All Files in Relative Path" checkbox is ticked and then click the "Choose" button.
that should take you back to the Reconnect Files window, and the list of files in the upper pane should now have moved to thelower pane ... click "Connect" and you should be done.

Reconnecting Media to offline clips

Hi all,
I have an interesting situation with a client. Never seen this problem/scenario before.
Here is the setup....
--> Client is logging all footage on her computer.
--> I provided her with a formatted Excel document that will allow me to import a batch list.
--> I converted her Excel logs to a txt document, then successfully imported the batch list into FCP.
--> After importing the log, FCP appears to like the log information. Everything is in its proper column, the clip icon (still with a red slash through it) and all of the necessary info (Clip name, Media Start and Media End, Log notes, Reel, etc) are all properly placed. FCP Even calculates the duration of the clip for us.
The problem is, when I try to "Reconnect Media" in an effort to connect the log information in FCP to the actual clips, it is a massive fail.
What I am seeing when trying to Reconnect Media....
--For starters, I notice that all of the logging entries in the browser are checkmarked as offline.
--When I try to Reconnect Media, the RM dialog is asking me to search for the NAME of the individually logged clip, rather than the REEL.
--RM cannot successfully reconnect media. At best, I turn off the Match Name option (Even though the REEL name is spelled perfectly in comparison to the actual video file), then manually select the clip to reconnect to. Interestingly, upon reconnecting, FCP has renamed the REEL in the browser as "0", rather than using the actual reel name.
Any help as to how I can import the clients log files(36 pages of info) and connect them to the actual video files?

If the clips are not actually missing, you could try to refresh the timeline by using cmd-0 and then going to the timeline options tab. Then select name only where it says "thumbnail display". Press ok to accept the change, then repeat the process to add thumbnails back to your timeline.

Clip names missing when trying to reconnect or batch capture

After dealing with a variety of hard drive issues, we have moved our project to a new system and I am in the process of trying to reconnect to old media as well as batch capture lost media files. I have run into two problems:
Problem 1: Many files, while they contain all proper loffing info when viewing in Final Cut, have lost their name when trying to reconnect media. When reconnecting media, the file name shows up as "". I have to manually search and reconnect the file. The problem is, if I try and reconnect from the clip in the browser, the corresponding clips in the timeline do not reconnect.
Problem 2: With clips where the media has been lost, I simply want to batch digitize from the original tapes. Again, while all the info is correct for each master and subclip I want to capture, when I actually go to batch capture, FCP is looking for the clip name "", so it starts telling me that I need to rename my clips since they all have the same name. You can see the problem with that.
Is there something corrupted in the project that is causing this? Will this keep happening? How can I batch capture without renaming all of my detailed clips? All suggestions appreciated.

Ha! Why do you say that's the issue? What would cause that to happen exactly in your theory?
You might want to know that I just opened an old autosave from before we had hard drive problems and switched to a new system and I copied/pasted the exact problem files and they are properly batch capturing as I write this.
Somehow, I still don't feel I have any explanation.

Thumbnails not matching photos

I was organizing photos in iPhoto '11 and noticed some thumbnails do not match their photos. Does anyone know how this could have happened or how to fix it?

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your thumbnails - this may take a few attempts

Crop Marks Inaccurate and do not match document size.

8.5 x 11 acrobat file.
There is no scaling.
When printed to HP5500, or Xerox 7500, the crop marks measure 10.6 x 8.22.
This dimension changes depending on what STYLE of crop marks are selected in the ADVANCED section of the print dialog box.
This happens with Acrobat 7Pro and with Acrobat 9Pro.
This must be an issue with this file because it is repeatable on 2 different printers and with 2 versions of acrobat.
How does acrobat decide where to put the crop marks?
The DOCUMENT BOXES are:
Crop = 8.5x11
TrimBox = 7.99x10.34
BleedBox = 7.99x10.34
ArtBox = 7.99x10.34
So how may I output this file on an 12 x 18 sheet and have accurate crop marks print at 8.5 x 11?

I think whoever is generating the files is exporting or printing to pdf with a 1" oversize page setup. 8.5x11=9.5x12
Then someone else is cropping the file. How is the cropping done? We don't know. Using acrobat's crop tool? Using Pit Stop's crop tool? Another third party plug-in?
These files are actually only at a preflight stage. The order entry people need to see what it is and how to write it up for construction (business forms). They then see that crops marks are trimming into copy and alarm flags go off. The pdf is eventually placed into an indd template with the the called for construction. (perfs, stubs, punches, numbering etc.)
We rarely have positioning problems when we select "crop to trim" when importing.
Now the problem is if I set the document boxes to zero as I mentioned, the order entry people have the same but opposite problem. Inaccurate marks 1" LARGER than they are supposed to be.
The original post was 8.5 x 11 document but the art box,, the actual stuff on the page was 7.99x10.34. In that case I think the artist was being lazy and wanted to take an 8.5 x 11 and add bleed to it. The intent would have been to stretch distort the 7.99x10.34 to 8.5 x 11 when placing the pdf in indd. But none of this explaing why, when printing a pdf from acrobat, the marks we get on the paper (in some cases), do not match what we see on the screen or are not in the correct place. Where is acrobat getting the information to create these marks?

"Error loading media. File Could not be played" when trying to view streaming media on only some sites. How to fix?

I've been having a problem trying to view streaming media, but it only happens on some sites. It's similar to a problem I have on my Windows PC, that's related to Adobe Flash, but since I'm very new to using my iPad Mini, I don't even know if Apple devices have Flash...do they?
Anyway, when I go to a site that's plagued by this issue, I tap the 'Play' arrow on my screen & the circle spins like it's gonna play, but then the screen turns black & this error message appears:
"Error loading media. File Could not be played" followed by a triangle with an exclamation point !
I read several articles online & the solutions ran from updating firmware in their router, (mine is brand new...installed last Thursday), to disabling ad-block programs in their browsers...(I don't have any enabled), and the last one was making changes to the DNS...(I know it means 'domain name server', but I don't have the foggiest idea how to make changes to it!
Anyway, that's my problem. I hope that someone out there knows what I can do to fix it!

I would assume an issue with the HTML5 media player.
If those aren't working on Windows then it is possible that the proper codecs aren't installed.
You can try to disable the HTML5 media player and make Firefox use the Flash plugin.
You can do this by setting these two prefs to false on the <b>about:config</b> page:
*media.windows-media-foundation.enabled
*media.directshow.enabled
